I tend to get that goofy involuntary "food grin" after a satisfying bite. When the flavor of the food just forces you to react that way. Food grin...followed by a happy seat dance and a guttural giggle. Taira creates the grin, the giggle, and the dance even tho I don't dance early and often. Comfort and innovation in each crafted omakase piece. Warm and friendly hosts.Ice cold Asahi and homemade appetizers. And a beef tongue dish that should to be taken home and eaten with kimchi and rice. So order some to go. HA Dining is a mix of comfort, quality, and of course, the food. This place hits them all. Sweet spot, bullseye, umai.Feel at home, feel welcome, have fun, and eat some food grin sushi at Taira.

This place is superb. I came here with my husband after a recommendation from my family. We ordered the 12pc omakase and asked for a recommendation on the sake to go with the omakase. Needless to say, the sake was so good and went very well with the food. Everything served in the omakase was delicious! They serve fish that I have never tried raw before, it's very unique. I also normally do not eat uni because I don't like the taste (maybe a bad experience at another restaurant), but I tried the uni here and it was very fresh. We also ordered a bunch of appetizer sides and the beef tongue is something you MUST order here! It's a small restaurant that seems to be run by only two people (husband and wife) and it feels like a really cozy place to enjoy top notch sushi. Bar seating is limited but there are a few tables, This place is reservation only so if you're interested, make sure you call ahead of time to book.

This spot has been bookmarked for who knows how long and I'm so happy that I finally decided to make the call to visit here. Came here to celebrate a special occasion as it seemed like an intimate omakase experience, and it did not disappoint. It's definitely one of the more affordable omakases in the area, but let me tell you, they do not compromise on their quality. They only allow reservations, so make sure to give them a call to reserve your spot. There's limited seating inside so if you are planning to go in with a large group, def recommend calling in early so you can find a suitable date with the restaurant to accommodate your party. Mine was just a party of two, and I called 2-3 weeks in advance and had no issues with making reservations.|| L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G ||-Cross Streets are Garden Grove Blvd. and Magnolia St.-Located in the same plaza as T-Kebab and Kutekook-Ample amount of parking in the small plaza-|| F O O D ||12 Course Omakase ($84/pp) included (and I apologize as I may not have recorded all the details at the time):Sea BreamAmberjackHalibut with truffle salt & oil (Jeju Island)Scallop (japan)Red SnapperWild Yellowtail with in-house soy sauceKing Mackerel with Chive & Garlic sauceChutoro (Mexico)Golden Eye SnapperOcean Trout (Norway)UniBluefin Toro with white truffle oilEach piece was such a treat. Of course, our favorites were the Bluefin Toro, Chutoro and the uni, but honestly each fish was so fresh. If money weren't an issue, I could just have the entire 12pc omakase all over again. We decided to get an extra order for the chutoro and the ocean trout and it was amazing as when we originally had it moments ago.We also got the $19 appetizer add on per person and it was such a delight. Our favorite of the cold appetizers was this savory flan that they had. It was so salty and savory and right up my alley. As a surprise, they gave us complimentary dessert (hojicha panna cotta and matcha chocolate) because they knew we were celebrating a birthday. It's just little things like these that makes me want to support these kind of businesses, because they sincerely care and are happy that you chose them to celebrate a special occasion.

I love taira sushi. It's a small family owned restaurant. You have to make reservations weeks in advance to get a table. We sat by the bar and it was a fantastic experience!

Ordered:- Braised beef tongue (5/5): Our first time having beef tongue in a thicker cut than what's typically used in bbq style and we loved it! We learned that it's braised daily for 4+ hours and it's incredible how much flavor and how tender the starter dish was. We were mindblown from the start and were so glad we got this.Following standouts from the 12-piece omakase were all 5/5's:- Norwegian ocean trout: Looked like salmon yet not salmon. But that didn't stop it from tasting like one of the best pieces of salmon we had ever had.- King mackarel with chive and garlic sauce: the sauce really made this dish stand out for us especially since the flavors reminded us a lot of Chinese steamed fish with ginger scallion sauce.- Blackthroat sea perch and halibut side fin were both really unique experiences as well. The side fin was an added piece as my substitute for the scallop due to my allergy and my gf was able to order it at the end too and really enjoyed it! Both fish have really cool textures that taste a bit fattier and smoother than other fish that surprised us a lot.- My gf also really loved the yellowtail and says it's one if the best pieces of yellowtail she's ever had because it tasted so clean and smooth.Overall (5/5): We loved our experience and can't wait to go back. Not only was the food amazing at a great price, but the owners were also so friendly. We didn't feel pressured to have a conversation with the chef but he was really attentive to us and was a good sport in answering any asked questions. His wife and the waitstaff were also really friendly and open to conversation even when they were busy. It's amazing to see such a small team run the entire restaurant operation!

Ohmakaseeeeeee!!!More like oh mah gosh this place is GOOOOOD!Reservations only. You can reach them via that yelp app or in the evening by calling. We went here for a 12 piece Omakase dinner Ordered a few sides and appetizers. Highly recommend beef, tongue and monk fish liver. Their fried chicken was good as well. Met the wife and the sushi chef husband. Super small and personable. They don't have a huge seating, but the food was definitely quality over quantity. I would come here again.

Taira is located in a little plaza with plenty of parking. This restaurant is by reservation only so be aware of that before you go! I'd call maybe a week or two in advance to secure a reservation. My fiance and I went for his birthday meal and the food was really good and the flavors were unique. The reason for the lower stars was that the staff made a few mistakes (ex they seated us in the wrong place and gave us the wrong dish). It was a bit puzzling since there were so few customers but they were still friendly and the food was good! Would definitely still come back (:

I'm so happy that an omakase spot finally opened up near me. I don't mind driving far for good sushi but after having kids, we can't get out as much. The restaurant itself is small and I believe they are strictly reservation only at this time. It's run by a beautiful couple, they are so sweet. You really can't bear the price for omakase. I love the add on appetizer course. My husband and I ended up sharing one and it was enough for 2 even. If you're hungry, get your own. The nigiri was all fresh and well seasoned/flavored. The chef's palette is great. Everything is just the right size and taste.

My fiancé took me here for my birthday dinner! There were two others celebrating their birthday and bc the space is so intimate we were all saying hbd to each other :-)ExperienceIt's owned by a husband and wife and they're really nice! The wife was serving us and it was her birthday the day before mine and she gave me a slice of her own birthday cake a friend dropped off for her that day...! It was so kind!?!FoodWe had the omakase 12pc. So good. Our favorite piece was the king mackerel, which was a seasonal one. The flavors of this omakase set were different than ones I've had in the past. It tasted more savory and had warmer tone flavors. Really yum!!AreaEasy/free parking lot. Not hard to find. Small interior, pretty sure reservation only? Great place for more intimate dinner conversations.

Really the best bang for your buck! Located in a small plaza next to H Mart, this restaurant is owned by husband and wife. Both were wonderful and very welcoming. The husband was the sushi chef while the wife attended to all of the guests. The restaurant itself is quite small so reservations are highly recommended.Their menu offers a decent amount of appetizers and three different set of omakase. (8 piece, 10 piece, or 12 piece) Sets range from $75-$100 per set. We opted for the 10 piece on this visit.1. Sea perch2. Amberjack3. Halibut4. Hokkaido Scallop 5. Bluefin Tuna6. Kinmedai7. Ocean Trout8. Black Cod9. Uni10. Fatty TunaEach piece was was so fresh and dressed very well. Excited to come back for the 12 piece set.
