This is a wonderful go-to spot for authentic, fresh, and delicious tacos if you're in OC! The place has a smaller interior where you order at the counter from a large, various menu. Customers typically sit outside in the patio with their trays of food, cups for beverages, and salsas, limes, and pickled carrots.Service is efficient, making sure they get the order right. While I realized I forgot what a gordita is, I had a wonderful time trying our tacos with green corn tortillas (XOXO they tasted immaculate!) and filling up on the pickled carrots! Flavors are strong, the food is served warm, and the plethora of pickled vegetables and generous servings of protein are pristine.

Looking for a new place to eat Mexican food in Orange County and we this spot and gave it a try.Not necessarily a mistake, but the food was just plain. Not bad and not like wow that was good.Ordered a chili Relleno,Gordita and a burrito. The sauce and cheese on the wet burrito was good. The sauce on chili was plain, and the Gordita was hammered. Now that means it was over cooked. It should be soft and not hard. Rice was ok. Did like the green tortillas. Hot salsa was bad. Made my sick.So would we come back, probably not, but someone else this may be good food. Not us.

I ordered the El Pastore burrito , contained way too many beans and very little pork. Tasteless. Same thing with the chicken quesadilla, bland. Siri overpriced. This was a one and done visit never, to return. Del taco taste better than this place.

What a hidden gem!!! I got the chilaquiles with grilled chicken--price was slightly above average but it made up for it with its generous portion and amazing flavor. Food was ready within 10 minutes and the cashier was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Don't forget your pickled veg (delicious) and salsas. Will definitely be back.

I wanna like Taco Mesa more since it is nearby my work but the pricing is a little high and the food is kinda meh. I've tried their tacos here before. A taco is $5+ but they are a little bigger than tacos from a taqueria spot and they fill them up with lots of meats. The only problem is their meats can be kinda dry.The last time I got food from here was when someone ordered me food. I really wanted a fish taco but they were out so I ended up getting chicken and al pastor. The chicken was a little dry and needed sauce which wasn't given unless you ask I assume. The al pastor was good but I didn't like the artificial guac they put on top. Also they wrapped it in a plate and it leaked everywhere so that was annoying. I probably would come back to try their other stuff since it's nearby me. Just wished it was more tasty.

Great spot for Taco Tuesday! It can get extremely busy on Tuesdays, but if you wait off to the side in the parking lot you can generally get a spot.Great margaritas and tacos! The Beef Tacos Fritos are my favorite! Will definitely be back! Have been going at least once a month on Taco Tuesday!

Taco Mesa is the best place for food in Costa Mesa. There is plenty of parking in the back and their food is incredible. The portions are extremely generous and the flavors are unmatched. Orders are prepared quickly and you can help yourself to the salsas of your choice. Very fun ambiance and casual food spot.

This place is great. A modestly sized taqueria putting out some huge, delicious tacos. You walk in past the colorful murals to place your order at the counter, then have a seat in the colorful, sticker bombed patio waiting for your food. We came in on a Tuesday and it only took about 5 or so minutes to get our order. And the staff were very pleasant and friendly.I ended up getting pastor, fish, and lobster tacos. The pastor was seasoned well, juicy, and decently zesty. The lobster was super buttery, pleasantly firm and with an honestly surprising amount of lobster meat. And the fish was our favorite, fresh yet pleasantly fishy and topped with plenty of cotija. My partner also got carnitas and chile verde, which were similarly delicious. And these are *huge* tacos piled on top of house made herbed tortillas with a decently strong corn flavor. Some of the best tacos I've had in recent memory. Also, our margaritas were delicious. I'm not even a tequila person and I liked it. Maybe because I was on an empty stomach but it hit *hard,* was strong without tasting like it.They have special pricing on Tuesdays, and it was packed when we went. Not oppressively busy but it was popping. And things move so fast you don't really notice, you just find yourself in a bustling patio filled with tacos. I wish their salsa was spicier, though.

My group and I arrived on Sunday afternoon after a hard day at practice. We were looking for somewhere with plenty of seats and table to accommodate our larger group. I have heard great things about Taco Mesa before this so I was excited to see how the food was.You order at the counter and grab your salsas/toppings before heading to their covered outdoor patio for seating. There were plenty of tables available, and they even allowed our group to combine tables so we could all sit together. I ordered three tacos and I was worried about the portion sizes but these were hefty sized tacos. The al pastor was flavorful, and the carne asada was well charred. Next time, I would've swapped out the carnitas taco to try one of their fish tacos!
