Peruvian sushi? New to me, but what an amazing combo I didn't know about.All the food was amazing, letting the photos speak for themselves. Portions were small compared to normal sushi restaurants, but I think that is the tapas style.Service was on point, drinks were cold and hot as ordered, and it all tasted amazingChutoro and the blue crab rolls were my favorite.

If you love fresh sushi with hints of yuzu and Peruvian flavors... RUN, don't walk to this restaurant. You don't wanna snooze on their flavor bombs of goodness. I came to the wrong restaurant and the staff were so accommodating! They switched the reservation to this location instead. I was there on a first date and my date went to the right location lol. The other location is in Bixby Knolls. My only complaint is that the music was way too loud. One year later and my date and I are going strong. Thank you, Sushi Nikkei for being our first best date ever!

Best tasting sashimi ever! The octopus cooked to perfection... so fresh .. great flavor . The Toro and yellowtail melt in your mouth. Must try ! Gluten free menu available and friendly staff.

This review is loooong overdue and I can't believe it took me this long to write it. My husband and I have been frequenting Sushi Nikkei since it opened over a year ago. We love it so much that we visit every few months. There was even a time when we went every couple of weeks, especially when we craved sushi packed with bold flavors!We tend to stick to our favorites but also enjoy exploring new dishes on the menu when they're available. Here's our typical order:Grilled Scallops - Best enjoyed immediately after it's served. A squeeze of lime brings out the buttery, zesty flavor while the crispy quinoa adds a delightful crunch. Tiradito Nikkei - The combination of ponzu, sesame oil, and garlic chips is the perfect match for the striped bass.Peruvian Cebiche- Tangy, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The fish in the Leche de Tigre sauce is so good that I savor every last spoonful of it.Acebichado Roll - A perfect balance of crispy shrimp and tuna with just the right amount of sauce. No need for soy sauce. We haven't tried other rolls because this one has always been our go to.Bluefin Tuna Tasting - This trio of fatty tuna melts in your mouth. I'm always tempted to order more, but I'm usually too full already lolWe always make a 5pm reservation and sit outside where it's quieter and our toddler can happily people watch. Since she isn't able to enjoy sushi just yet, we really appreciate the staff's flexibility in allowing us to bring along some fruit and yogurt for her. She's a big fan of udon soup so maybe that could be something they can add to their menu in the future!The staff is consistently wonderful and accommodating. Sushi Nikkei has become one of our favorite spots and we love supporting this local gem. I've even brought family and friends here to share their delicious food.

What an amazing place. Got there at 5 pm yesterday. Great service. Friendly server. Prob the best and freshest fish. The rice was perfectly cooked. The white fish and unagi has a hint of smoky taste which added so much flavor. Melted easily. Awesome decor. Def going back and prob will be my yo go to sushi. I do wish they have more option with the roll besides shrimp and salmon Of all what we ordered. The one I wouldn't order again is the blue fin tostado. Bc we could barely had any fish. Nonetheless, it was a great dinner.

Absolutely loved Sushi Nikkei! The interior of the restaurant is modern with unique art pieces. I enjoyed the cute cat cartoons throughout. The servers were all polite and routinely checked on our table.We started with the grilled scallops. So fresh, flavorful, and came in a really fun presentation. They tasted even more delicious with a generous squeeze of lime. We ordered the Peruvian ceviche as well. It comes as a small portion, but the flavors are extraordinary. I loved the tart broth of the ceviche with the fresh fish. I very much felt the Peruvian influence with the crunchy corn kernels throughout. Other than the appetizers, my 2 favorite dishes have to be the Oba roll and the sake jalapeno sushi nikkei. These dishes were honestly very similar, which is probably why I loved both of them so much. The salmon tastes so smokey and almost has a meat flavor. From the sushi nikkei options, I would also recommend the parmesan scallops and the asian shiromi. In general, I think it makes sense to get the sushi nikkei sampler if it's your first time at the restaurant. Acebichado roll was also delish! Overall, excellent flavors, presentation, and aesthetic.

We came to the Bixby location when they opened, we really liked it but tonight was even better! Not pictured, but we did the tuna tasting and it was really worth it. Overall really good experience, we'll definitely be back soon.

Omg the food here is absolutely amazing The service is amazing We had the crispy tartar roll and omg amazing the sauce it comes with is chefs kiss ! Love the ambience The thing that kinda sucks it's the parking. But hey if you're from Long Beach u know that's a big issue ! All over ! They have a parking lot in the back weekends it's packed But overall love the place is small but cute and the people are amazing!!

What a GREAT experience. This restaurant is intimate with an understated, by pleasant dining area. You will find 14 tables, with only four tables that can accommodate 4 people. There is additional seating outside, but on this chilly night everyone was inside. My wife and I really enjoyed our time here, the atmosphere is chill and not too loud. Our primary server was Anthony who did a nice job, but the 'above and beyond' aspect came from Luis, who was running food on the evening. He knew all the items inside and out, I felt his sushi passion, he did a fantastic job explaining the unique Peruvian spicing and exactly what everything was. I also liked that the menu was not overwhelming, they had the perfect number of choices. I digested the Yelp reviews and looked at pictures before I arrived, that said, my wife and I nailed the order, EVERYTHIG hit the spot. * Spicy Edamame, not that spicy, uniquely delicious with how they spice it, not oily (A grade)* Tuna taco (2 pc), exactly what I expected, solid choice (B+ grade)* Sushi Nikkei Tasting (8 pc), for me the highlight, the 4 fish varieties will vary depending on the evening, they were all prepared with sweet, power, parmesan and Asian (A+ grade)* Bixby rolls (8 pc), crispy shrimp, avocado topped with cream cheese, parrillera sauce, tare (A+ grade)* Chill Maki (5PC), crispy tempura roll with avocado, shrimp, chill sauce, & lemon (A grade)I love sushi, and Sushi Nikkei delivered a winner with their unique Peruvian spicing, I can't wait to get back.
