Somisomi

The taiyaki is made fresh here. The ice cream is soft and light, not sweet and not too much flavor. Located in the Bella Terra, this location is empty during the week. I know the one in Garden Grove can get pretty busy.It's very clean inside and has an outside area for walking around and taking pictures. Plenty of parking in the lot, but I can see how it can get busy during the day.

HB location and regular visitor at Irvine location.My 2nd time back to this location in 4 yrs. Will never come back after this visit. 2nd time reminded me why I didn't return after 1st time visit.The filling of every taiyaki was empty and the batter mochi outside were used at bare minimal. When asked the Cashier worker, he stated that is their style. Well if that is the case then no need to bother for the return. Irvine location is very consistent with their taiyaki... fully battered and fully oozing out hot custard filling.

I went on a Sunday night and there was no line, which was nice. The seasonal flavor (sweet corn) caught my eye in the window and I knew I had to go in and try it. The interior is very brightly lit, with cute decorations on the glass screens.I will say the menu is not designed well. It's a bit of a confusing ordering process, as the pictures indicating the items are in yellow on top of a white background. I don't know who approved it, but boy was it hard to see. The cashier was very helpful in explaining the options to me. I ended up getting the sweet corn ice cream with the taiyaki on top and a custard filling. The waffle was cold, but still enjoyable. I liked the custard and the sweet corn ice cream, though the flavor was really light. You got an aftertaste of corn, but upon initial taste, there's more of a vanilla flavor. I think they could have really amped up the corn aspect. The good news is you really do get a LOT of ice cream. Too much for a single person to handle, but great to split with another if you both aren't too stuffed from other food.I also didn't know you could get toppings added on after you ordered. I assumed you had to say upfront if you wanted anything extra, but I guess they just have you tell them when you come by to pick up your order. I didn't get any toppings, as all the flavors probably wouldn't have matched the sweet corn ice cream. The waiting area where people hover for their orders can also get crowded from time to time fyi.There's no indoor seating, so your best bet is to grab a table or bench in the plaza area right outside. Luckily, we found a table right away. I imagine that would be a difficult task on a Friday/Saturday night, or whenever they have events in the area.

It's good. Like the other locations. The service was nice. The set up wasn't much to be excited about bc it's a small location. The ice cream was good.

Always hits the spot and flavors are always consistent. The ice cream is so smooth and not too sweet. The taiyaki is hot and fresh every time. The taiyaki is my favorite here. The outside and crispy with slight chewiness of the mochi texture is perfect. I always like Nutella and Oreo taiyaki.

Japanese dessert yes please! Rarely do I go out and get dessert because it's usually not worth it. But somisomi is definitely a dessert worth getting. I get the Taiyaki filled with either mung bean or Nutella. This last time I got the Nutella filled, and it was heavenly, a must have. Also, in my last visit I found out many of the ice cream flavors are nondairy. I don't eat dairy so I can't wait to come back and have some ice cream.

Service was very quick and place was very clean!! Got my order very quickly and accurately! I got the milk strawberry swirl, and I usually get a matcha or ube...not sure if the strawberry is usually this light, but I felt like it was a bit too light...I couldn't really differentiate between the milk or strawberry. Regardless it was still smooth and creamy and good!

Gentleman in the back seen from the front, was mixing without gloves, then stops to wipe nose frequently. But then continued to mix without gloves, and without washing hands. Happened today, 12:25pm, 3.3.25.

Went to Bella Terra and saw this ice cream place. Gave it a try and went back two times to buy more. It's so good and price is very reasonable. Tried the soft served ice cream (ube match swirl), upside down (taiyaki with nutella filing on top of matcha ice cream) and taiyaki (nutella & red bean). The taiyaki is made to order. It is basically a waffle with filing of your choice. They sell it in 2 & 5 pcs ($4.50 & $8.50). Every bite you get has a filing, not just in the middle. I loved every single item that I ordered. Must try dessert/snack place!
