There's something about a real slice joint--no frills, no pretension, just a counter, an oven that's seen some things, and a guy who knows exactly how long to let that dough blister before pulling it from the fire. Slice of the Pie is that place. It's changed names over the years, but I'm convinced it's been the same people behind the counter, the same well-worn rhythm of sauce, cheese, and dough.I spent years in New York. This? This is the closest I've found to the real thing in Orange County. The cheese--richer, a little saltier, almost buttery--hits just right. The crust has that thin, crisp bite before giving way to the chew. It's not a soulless, overthought California pie; it's New York pizza, exiled to the West Coast but still holding the line. They do more than pizza--calzones, garlic knots, the occasional solid salad (just make sure it's fresh). But the XXL pie? That's the move. A beast of a pizza, the kind you stretch out across the kitchen counter, crack a beer, and relive the best parts of the city you left behind. In a town obsessed with Neapolitan crusts and wood-fired ego, this place just makes damn good pizza. And that's more than enough.

Slice of the Pie Pizza has been around for what seems like forever and it's because they know how to make a real piece of pizza! Their Italian food seems authentic and everything on the menu is bursting with flavor! My one recommendation is that the place feels outdated and at times even a little dirty - like it needs a deep clean. And maybe it's not dirty, maybe it's just in need of a little revamp. Like, make the place crisp, white with some Italian flags, or something to modernize it a bit. The owner and all the staff are so friendly and you can tell they are hard workers!

Found myself here for lunch on a weekday at noon. This pizza parlor serves pizza by the slice if you don't want a whole one. There were probably ten choices for a slice and I chose two: Hawaiian and Pepperoni & Sausage. I also got a fountain drink and was given a lunch deal price.I sipped on a cherry Coke while they heated my slices and delivered them to the table I sat at. The slices were enormous! The Hawaiian had wall-to-wall pineapple and plenty of ham while the Pepperoni & Sausage had meat-o-plenty. The thin crust was a bit droopy while hot but firmed up a bit as it cooled. The cheese had excellent stretch to it.Great pizza, great price, great service...what more can you ask for?

Their pizza use to be NY pizza perfect, but the last 3 times we've been we've noticed a change in the dough- it's super skimpy on the bottom and just has a different flavor than it used to.

Nothing bad about this place - but nothing exciting about it either. I like you can have a beer with your meal and since my daughter goes to art lessons next door, it was a good way to kill an hour of time. The place was not busy, but the lady that took my order seemed to be in some sort of a rush to take my order. One slice of mushroom and one beer. That's all. Paid and waited about 5 minutes. Reheating pizza it's a very NY kind of thing and part of the crispy thin crust the style is known for. This however did not crisp. Very soft dough with a hard crunchy edge, but somehow lacking the intensity of flavor of fresh ingredients. Again, nothing specifically bad, just a lack of passion and a very average NY style Cali slice. It would be OK in the OC 10 years ago, but now that with the next gen of places rising in Dana Point, and inland, I have to say that this place fell short of the mark.

Total jackasses working here. Ordered two slices and they came out burnt to a crisp. They offered to make me two new ones i said sure no problem. 10 mins went by and they came out to tell me they didnt have the same slices. I dont think i need to explain what went wrong here. There werent even any other customers when i came in and this transpired and i can see why.

Still THE BEST pizza - AND hands down the best slow cooked, homemade marinara sauce I've ever had. We have since moved out of state, and we miss the Baked Ziti with a side of meatballs, and Eggplant Parmesan - more than you can ever know!!!
