Shwack Beach Grill

Need everyone to understand one thing. If you want a ridiculously good burger after a surf/workout, this is your place. They call their fries spuds, which are FIRE. The food usually comes out fast and hot. We go here probably 1-2 times a week depending on if we're home and not traveling. One of our favorite spots. A very surf vibe inside as well. This is not your fine dining restaurant so if you're looking for that, this isn't your place. This is an order up front and they bring your food out to you. They have a great selection of burgers, sandwiches, and other things. Love Shwack. Cheers.

My family and I came in to eat but We were hesitant to order food due to the overwhelming smell of burnt oil/ sewer but we used to love the San Clemente shwacks so thought we'd give it a go. My husband ordered a beer which was served insanely flat after overhearing another customer complain about the beer. While waiting for our food I needed to change my baby in the restroom. It was the dirtiest restroom I have ever seen for a restaurant. There was toilet paper on the ground everywhere, the floors were sticky and soaking wet, no dry toilet paper, the sink seemed to be left on and running?? Since there was no changing table (which is totally fine) I walked out unable to change my daughter but mostly didn't want to because of the filth. I came out and the food had arrived. My husband told me he took one bite of a French fry and it tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. I told the front that unfortunately we don't want to proceed with eating and we will be leaving our meals untouched because of how gross the restaurant itself was.I have never done such a thing before but I was genuinely concerned about the health and safety of my family. Anyways, I understand it can come across as a shock but whoever was working the front just proceeded to say "oh". Never offered a refund or anything. I don't expect one however just the offer would have been nice.I am the biggest fan of shwacks fish tacos and crave them but just so sad of the conditions inside.

Shwack has such a cool beach vibe and the employees are just as chill. The food is always excellent. I so want to give them 5 stars, but just could not because of 2 factors: the lack of variety of artificial sweeteners. Stevia is all they offer, and that has the nastiest taste. What people don't realize is the old-fashioned pink choice, Sweet-N-Low, has been removed from the cancer causing list and has the best taste of all of them. It was frustrating sweetening coffee with Stevia. But not a big deal... just a simple thing to improve customer service.And the other aspect is no breakfast. We were there at 11am, and the breakfast menu is up. I tried to order the Brekie Wrap, but the cashier told me they aren't serving breakfast. Not sure if that meant just for this day, or this is a permanent change. It was confusing.But do not get me wrong- the food is amazing no matter what you choose, so I went with the fish tacos. They are perfection.I look forward to returning soon!

I ate here a few years ago and loved it and wondered why it took me so long to return. I ordered the Schwack Burger with cheese. It was big and delicious on a soft, slightly toasted bun with sliced tomatoes, lettuce, and red onions just the way a really well made burger is supposed to be. The service was terrific: super friendly woman at the cashier and an equally super friendly woman who brought the burger to my table. Very nice staff. The ambience was super chilled and friendly. And the price of the cheese burger was $11.50 --- which nowadays and in Dana Point is pretty amazing. Great food, great service, chilled vibes, great prices. I'll be back again soon.

The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in guiding our order. We ordered the ahi burger, vegetarian burger, Shwack spuds, and the kids chicken sandwich. The whole family loved their choices!

The food was delightful. We finished our meal with some spicy bloody Marys with just the right zing, which I adore. I chose the bourbon brisket sandwich for my main course, and it was a real treat. The brisket was incredibly tender, melting in my mouth with each bite. On the side, I had the shwack spuds, which were wonderfully crispy and added a perfect crunch. The service was also top-notch; our dishes arrived promptly, making the whole dining experience all the more enjoyable.

Whoever the cook is now is nailing it. The Al's burger includes real thick cut bacon not that thin see-through crap at other places. The fried onions and then add the spuds cooked properly with a crisp not al dente. Well worth the price when you think about it.. Services just fine... Food even better

The Shwack is hands down one of my favorite spot in the Dana Point Lantern District! Their fish tacos are simply the best - they may look a bit simplistic, but the flavors are spot-on. Each taco comes with three amazing sauces: the "shwack sauce," a spicy pico de gallo, and an avocado cream sauce. Together, they perfectly complement the fresh fish and make each bite a delight. And if you're around on a Tuesday, make sure to stop by for Taco Tuesdays - the tacos are $2 off, making an already great deal even better!Their breakfast options are fantastic as well. I usually grab their breki wrap to-go, and it never disappoints. Also, don't miss out on ordering a side of the spuds - even if you're not usually a fan of potatoes, they are the perfect addition to any meal.Despite all the new spots popping up in the area (this area seems to be experiencing a boom in new developments), The Shwack remains my go-to place. They've been around long before all the changes to the Lantern District, and their consistency in quality keeps me coming back.

My boyfriend and I stopped by for lunch the other day and it was pretty good! We both got burgers and fries. The cheesy bacon fries, the ranch, and the shwack sauce are the highlights of our meal. We enjoyed our burgers too but for some reason they weren't too flavorful. I really needed to dunk it in sauce.The fries are crisped to perfection and sooo yummy. I loved them with the nacho sauce and ranch! Our food came out fairly quick and we overall enjoyed our meal. I would probably come back to try something else! Last time I was here was years ago and I think they only had burgers but they have a big menu now.

Schwack Beach Grill is a chill little walk-in diner spot, beach-hut style, in a cool part of Dana Point near the main PCH strip. Not as expensive as some of the food in the area around it and a versatile breakfast to burger style dinner menu. Table seating is limited, but they do have an outside patio. On the street it's located, Del Prado, there are often art fairs, car shows, vintage markets, things like that so this is a great place to grab lunch on those days. We tend to go here for breakfast, which has true diner flare with skinny, crunchy, salty hashbrowns, or country style potatoes, thin slices of bacon, straightforward cooked eggs, sides of toast or fruit. You order at the counter and then find a table and the food is dropped off for you. Service is polite enough, but if you're looking for attentive service, this isn't the spot for you. This is not a full service restaurant in any sense of the word but it's a step above simple fast food. Two people having a standard eggs, protein, and hashbrowns breakfast plus a cup of coffee each runs about $28. We come here sometimes for a casual bite and we will keep doing so.
