San Shi Go Newport Beach

We came here for my wife's birthday! Highly recommend making a reservation for omakase at the bar! You'll get to see how everything is cut and made! We love Yoshi and would recommend seeing him! They do require a down payment but you'll get refunded as soon as you get there!Not much of a sushi person but wow did I enjoy some of sushi Yoshi served us!!! Will definitely come back again!

Restaurant worth. Omakase not worth. Sushi pieces were indeed extremely fresh and plated beautifully. Dessert was exquisite even if it was just a sorbet/panna cotte. BUT every piece of fish that had to be cooked, they overcooked. Literally every single one.Cute and intimate ambience. Dress code was casual but a lot of people dressed up a little. Parking was terrible. Had to circle around for 15 minutes looking for parking.

Dined here for dinner with my cousin. We booked ahead of time and requested bar seating and omakase. I was very skeptical on the drive there as it is a super touristy area. Theres street parking and a paid parking lot nearby but I had to circle around a few times before getting lucky.As far as the food - it was great. Almost all the pieces served to us by the chef were fantastic. My favorites were the tuna cheek, toro, uni and their appetizers. The chef was very friendly and explained each fish before being served. Also, the service was impeccable. Probably the best service I have ever had at any restaurant.

I cannot say I am qualified to truly rate this omakase compared to others given this was my first time (I can't even spell the word correctly without auto-correct's help). With that being said, my group of 4 had an amazing time! The chef and staff were so accommodating to our taste, including one of group who had heavy food restrictions. Beyond that everyone seemed to be smiling, laughing, sharing jokes, and even help celebrate my wife's birthday is this intimate setting tucked so close to Newport pier. Cannot rave about this place enough, what a treat!

After trying numerous Omakase restaurants in the area, San Shi Go has remained my tried and true. They serve solidly consistent and fresh sushi, offer great omakase sushi options and honestly it's just fun, easy and relaxed... nothing set or pretentious and I love that. Omakase is exactly what it is but I love being able to request what you want as well. Always look forward to the flavored agedashi tofu they offer in the beginning. The service is overtly polite and the sushi chefs are tons of fun. Makoto and Yoshi are our guys!

Had a dinner reservation at the bar for omakase. It's the only way imo to enjoy this experience. Service was superb, from hosts and waiting staff to chefs. Makoto and Yoshi are always a good time, if the chefs ain't drinking with me then I don't want eat there. Wife and I always leave delighted because the quality of sushi is and preparation is top tiered.

Went here for a cousin's birthday. We had a group of 8 and were seated pretty quickly. Not sure if we had a reservation for it. The place is small enough to feel intimate but not stuffy. There wasn't too many tables though, and the main part was the sushi bar in the middle. They're great with birthdays, though.Food was delicious, and incredibly beautiful. The Omakase was worth it and we even ordered some more on top! Looking forward to going back.

Accidentally made it to Newport Beach go late to eat dinner somewhere else in balboa ; THANK GOODNESS . Because we stumbled upon San Shi Go . Their attention to detail. AMAZING! The food 20/10 . The service 20/10 Friday night made perfect with this place. The vibe is so chill and intimate . Perfect for dinner with loved ones, Or a first date. And the dessert chestnut social was out of this world. And if you're contemplating getting ice cream and like savory ice cream ; GET THE BLACK SESAME

FOOD POISONING from the omekase menu! Ate here with my husband and two kids. Husband and I ordered omekase and had severe food poisoning for two days after. Kids had no issues but ordered only soup and rice. I've traveled extensively to other countries and have never had food poisoning as bad as this time. Very disappointed would never eat here again.

This place has some of the best sushi I've ever eaten. My girlfriend won't stop telling me we need to go back! 10/10
