I had received an email in regards to their special "holiday bucket" for 89.99 for a limited time only and had to jump on it, which includes a whole lobster, crab legs, grilled shrimp, skirt steak, chicken, and corn on da cobb! Also includes warm tortillas with their famous honey butter, rice, beans, and one fried ice cream for dessert. This was my first time to this location (& closest) as I have patronized the SD locations numerous times. The area is very congested and parking can be a nightmare (pay for parking open lot); however, we found a spot in front of Handel's that wasn't too hard to get in and out of and was close to the restaurant.I shouldn't have been surprised that the area was packed as I was naive enough to think just maybe it wouldn't be too bad (hadn't been to Newport in years). Our wait time was approx. 40 min and a good thing we paid for 3 hours of parking. Seating is crowded and we got a table outdoors on the patio (about 4-5 tables) and heating lamps are available. As for service, it was excellent! Once seated, our server took our drink orders and food order and promptly brought our caesar salads. Our holiday bucket came out pretty quickly as well, considering how busy they were! As for the food, it was amazing! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious! I wished I could remember our server's name but he kept checking on us and half way through our meal brought me the "declawers" for the crab legs as I was successful enough at that point to crack them on my own. Topped off our meal with their delicious fried ice cream, and it was a memorable meal!My only advice is to go during a non peak time and/or non holiday/touristy time if you do not like the crowds and congestedness.

We recently dined at Rockin' Baja, a seafood restaurant in Newport Beach, and it was an enjoyable experience overall. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, making it a great spot for seafood lovers. We decided to try the crab and lobster bucket, which was a fun and interactive way to enjoy our meal. The seafood was fresh and flavorful, and I appreciated the generous portions. However, I found the seasonings to be a bit on the heavy and salty side for my palate. While the flavors were bold, I think a lighter touch would have allowed the natural sweetness of the seafood to shine through even more. The meal was certainly messy, but that's all part of the experience when diving into a crab and lobster bucket! Thankfully, the restaurant provided ample wet wipes and napkins, which made cleanup a breeze. We were seated directly behind the good pickup area which was kind of an odd place to sit, the area could have been a bit cleaner and better organized by my standards. Overall, we enjoyed the culinary adventure and appreciated the vibrant setting. While the flavors might not have perfectly matched my personal taste, I would still recommend this spot for anyone looking to indulge in a seafood feast with friends or family.

One of the very few places there were open on Christmas so we had lunch here and left incredibly satisfied!Service: 3/5Our server didn't check in throughout the meal so we couldn't ask for water or napkin refills. He was nice though.Ambiance: 4/5We were sat right by the entrance so couldn't see the inside of the restaurant but the ambiance was family-friendly and loud.Food: 4/5Generous portions. 5 of us shared a variety of dishes and we were all satisfied with our meal. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly! The only downside was there was just too much cheese on the salad *_*

Very attentive waitress. Corn ribs appetizer is enough for 3 and just the right amount of kick. The lobster roll was tasty and bread toasted but soft. Coleslaw was pretty plain and would benefit from a few more ingredients, but I'd order the plate again. Had everything with a Mai Tai, which was huge and a good compliment to the flavors.

Fantastic fresh seafood with reasonable prices, excellent service and great Cadillac margarita. We ordered the Alaska crab legs and 4 lobster tails. It comes with salad, chips and salsa, the feast bucket and fried ice cream for $99. If you look at Alaska king crab legs these days at the market it will cost about $100. So great price for excellent food. It is a casual place so don't expect anything fancy. The dry rub on the seafood was great, grilled corn nice, steak great flavor so was the chicken. The meal could be for 4 people not too. WE could not finish everything. A must if you are in the area. I will be back for more seafood.
