Renzo's a Taste of Peru

Love this guy. Sad to see it closed. Used to drive to Irvine from Coto de Caza when he had a hole in the wall off Michelson. Nicest human with great food. Rooting for you!!

The chef/owner said he surfs Trestles!!! So he must be cool! Far out!Food was great, he helped us choose. Came here after my son's swim meet.

My wife and I had Renzo cater our wedding and it was an absolutely terrific experience. From the day we booked with him he helped us pick out a menu for the big day and even worked with us to fit certain guests dietary needs. He was even kind enough to do a small tasting at our house so we could try the food first. We've had his food before and it never disappoints but at our wedding he really outdid himself. All of our guests told us how great the food was and asked us how we found him. On top of the delicious food his service was great and anyone who's been around Renzo can attest to what a pleasure he is to work with. My wife and I can't thank him enough for helping create a wonderful experience at our wedding!

My husband and I found Renzo's on Yelp a few years ago when he had his restaurant. We were so bummed to hear he was closing his restaurant. He let us know he was starting to focus on his catering business. We worked with him for our engagement party and loved it so much that we invited him to cater our wedding as well. Both had different menus (Peruvian for engagement, tri tip and chicken picatta for our big day) and he was able to work within our budget for both events. Best of all for a stressed out bride- he was always punctual every time we needed to meet with him. I wish I could hire Renzo for every party lol. Such a fun personality to work with. We miss you, Renzo, and your lomo saltado especially!

Was craving some Peruvian food tonight so we decided to give this place a try. It's a order first and sit down kind of place. Ample outdoor seating. After our order Renzo personally came out and gave us the the toasted corn. He fell in love with our youngest. He said she reminded him of his daughter. We ordered the lomo saltado, aquadito de pollo, and yucca fries. Food didn't disappoint. The sauce was the best part. We even purchased a bottle home.

I have to say that when i eat Peruvian food, I come in extremely biased because of when I went to Peru for field school. It was the first time I tried Lomo Saltado, so I was looking for a place locally that could replicate that same first taste that I had in Peru. After almost 10 years, I have! Renzo's is located in a humble complex in Lake Forest. It was nice to see we were greeted by the owner (Renzo) who is so charming, knowledgeable, and down to earth, he was working the cashier! I already knew I wanted to try the Lomo Saltado, but my husband was more curious about the menu. They have specials (half or full rotisserie) that are only served Fri, Sat, and Sun so that was appealing to him, but he ended up choosing Arroz con Mariscos. When the food came out, it was so beautifully presented (totally Yelp/Instagram worthy), I almost didn't want to eat it! The filet mignon was so tender and the sauce was delightful! I love how the different textures intermixes w the fries, vegetables, and rice. To my surprise, my husband liked his dish better because of the complexity of the spices! All in all, the service was on point, the food was unbelievable and there is no doubt that we will be returning back!

Great Peruvian restaurant! There is both indoor and outdoor seating. They start you off with the corn nuts and ask for their green sauce, sooooo good!Ordered the ceviche mixta, both medium and spicy and the spicy really does have a kick to it. The seafood was fresh and great portion for the price.The entrees are on the longer side so you could definitely share. The lomo saltado had beef which was super tender and seasoned well. I was also very happy with the chicken.Finished with churros and we were stuffed! Will definitely come back!

He catered my husband and my wedding! He really went above and beyond helping create the menu and he got us servers. The food was so good we actually ran out after everyone got seconds and thirds! My husband and I were looking forward to bringing the leftover food to our post wedding getaway but the best problem happened where everyone loved it so much we had none left. We got so many compliments on the food with people saying they normally don't like wedding food but this was their favorite! Couldn't recommend Renzo enough! The food was phenomenal and my husband and I made sure to eat at our wedding.Tallerines verde con pollo (w/o pollo for our vegetarian people) and Lomo saltado were our options! Came with rice, Renzos aji sauce, and salad.

When Renzo closed the restaurant, I was devastated. His food made me fall in love with Peruvian cuisine. So when I found out he is offering his famous green sauce, I felt life was better again. I bought four bottles because I know how good it is. On the first day I received the sauce, I finished half a bottle immediately. It's perfect with chips, bread and literally everything.
