Loved the location and outdoor seating area! Pet friendly, fireplace and friendly staff.Portion sizes vary!!The huevos rancheros plate is so small not fillingBut the chicken in Barrada pesto sandwich is so hearty and hefty but both delicious!Great spot to visit if you're exploring SJC. We actually had lunch and drinks here and it was so easy to head out and visit other cool spots all walking distance.

I gave them 3 stars on decor, ambience and friendly staff. This was our first time and we were immediately impressed by the layout and the cleanliness of the restaurant. Especially in an area like Ladera where most restaurants have kids running amok while parents gab with friends oblivious to the carnage. This is a welcome change. I was hoping for a full bar but understand, as the name implies, they are there to sell wine so I settled on the Hombre Cabernet and was pleasantly surprised. We came for the steaks so it paired well. I just wish someone asked me if I wanted a second round... My wife and I both ordered filets, hers a 6oz and mine a 10oz. When asked what temperature we wanted our steaks we both answered "medium+" only to be told they only do "medium or medium well" so we chose the latter. Now any steak chef that is worth his/her salt knows what medium+ is and knows how to prepare it but not wanting to be difficult, we agreed on medium well. This brings me to my next point of contention, the steak that arrived. The presentation was very nice to look at but it was not your typical filet mignon as it was just an inch thick and it was beyond well done. Not a good first impression... my wife's 6oz was exactly the same, an inch thick and overdone. It almost appeared as though our steaks were butterflied and missing the other half. It was tough like a USDA "Choice" steak rather than a true prime filet mignon. It was short on seasoning as well. The sauce it came with was more like a bbq or A1 than a true Demi glacé. It was just ok, a bit too sweet. I wish I knew that the potatoes and veggies were the base foundation that the steak would sit atop for presentation sake so that I could request they be separate on the plate so that I could enjoy each course individually but I'm not sure that's not an option since the menu doesn't offer sides as a separate selection. Each dish is paired with a starch and a vegetable so maybe everything is predicated on appearance rather than experience. I don't know but I do know what makes a great steakhouse and this one has some work to do if it's going to survive. Especially in an area like Ladera where people aren't spending money the way they used to so you gotta bring your "A" game. I was honest with the manager when she stopped by, after our dinner, to ask how everything was. I answered her with an honest review to which she replied, "Well, hopefully we do better for you next time.". It wasn't until a few minutes later that I realized I should've responded with, "That's assuming we'll be back." Pretty optimistic considering the feedback I had just given. I do hope ownership takes note. $200 is a lot of money to drop on food that was not very good. One last observation. Valentines Day was on a Friday, two days before our visit. Why they were still using the preset V Day menu is beyond me?! I avoid restaurants on V-Day for just that reason.

This was my first time eating here, I had been in for wine before, but had not tried the food. We went in on a Sunday afternoon for the patio seating because it was a nice, sunny winter day. The menu great and food was overall good, I opted for apps, the grilled artichoke (YUM) and the baked Brie with a fruit sauce containing what I believe was macerated or sautéed cranberries and plums? I loved the cheese, but didn't love the heavy sauce, they do however get extra bonus points, because they had gluten free options to smear it on. My hubby had the burger, it was really, really good! Ambience inside is excellent and they have a very nice, dog friendly patio and the server and bartender were super friendly. So here's my cons, first, the server was taking tables in and out, so when we needed things, another beverage, a new napkin, it was sometimes hard to catch someone. I was in the mood for white wine based on the apps I ordered, they were out of 2 that I wanted. I'll give them a small break, because it was a Sunday, but they are a "winery," so if they were going to be out, it may have been nice to add some other options. The flood of sauce on the Brie was heavy and overwhelmed the natural flavor of the cheese, I'm more of a fan of a light drizzle and some fresh fruit. Last thing, I think the lovely patio would be an excellent spot for a live guitarist or some sort of music on the weekend, we came after brunch, so I'm sure they were busy eatlier, but it was pretty quiet outside and lacked a little warmth, the soft sound of some live music would have made it an A+. It was a nice experience overall, so I will look forward to going again, hopefully for dinner next.

I love their patio, it's warm and welcoming. The wine list offers enough variety's to find one you like. I usually go with the Mariposa Chardonnay. The food is a bit overpriced but it is tasty. The portions are large and they slow substitutions. Service has always been friendly. My only complaint is that they burn scented candles in the restaurant lobby. You walk in and are met by a strong perfume smell which messes up your palate. I worked in restaurants many years and always trained my teams not to wear perfume as to not interfere with the smells of the food.

This has become one of our go-to dining spots after joining their wine club. I wish we lived closer because we'd be there more often. All the workers there are super friendly and a joy to talk to. They're always helpful and willing and to give their advice on drinks or food. It's a huge restaurant with bar seating, indoor seating around an exhibition style kitchen and outdoor seating on a large wraparound porch.Happy hour specials are great and all the food is delicious.

Again service level quick and very friendly. Love visiting here and seeing staff that knows your name. Mgr kelly and kelsey fantastic. Madera and Sarah are attentive too. Eli was our server that night and took care of our newbie guests. Maverick red and Kyles cab are the best.

A bit shocked at the prices but the experience was a good one. The fig bruschetta is delicious the whipped Gorgonzola really takes it next level. Wines are ok - $14-17 per glass. Smoked Caesar salad was just alright, we wanted a light dinner and this fit the bill. Nice ambiance and hostess and servers were kind and welcoming.

We have been here a few times and have never been too impressed. Pros: ambiance and service - it's a nice restaurant in terms of look and feel; the servers/bartenders have always been nice. Cons: the food is just not very good. The burger is soggy and not very tasty, the short rib ragu is very plain (even the server suggested we get a side of pepper when we ordered it), and the bruschetta is also underwhelming. We did like the BBQ chicken flatbread, but it was overpriced and small. Wine is good but also seems a bit overpriced.
