Patty's Cakes Cobbler and Fried Chicken

A Hidden Gem Worth DiscoveringToday was my first time eating at this restaurant, and I have to say--it's truly a hidden gem! I've driven past it a few times, unsure if it was open or in business, but I'm so glad I decided to stop by.The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious. You can tell everything was cooked with love and care. The chicken was hands down the best I've had in decades--it reminded me of a home-cooked meal from my childhood. Just wish the sides were a lil more, kinda small but delicious! I already have friends planning to check it out tomorrow, and I'm sure I'll be back in just a few days. This place deserves our support, so if you haven't been yet, make it a point to stop by. I'll definitely be a regular here from now on!

So my daughter lives in the neighborhood of this delicious establishment .She knows I love homemade treats and purchased some delicious desserts for myself and her dad. Ambiance, was all that. My daughter said it smelled like devine inside.She said Ms. Patty is as sweet as her treats. Thank you Ms. Patty and your trees are delicious and top tier. It was definitely a party in our tummy.

I had about everything here from the cakes to the chicken & fish and everything that comes out of this store is great! I recently had the short rib plate with mac & cheese and red beans and rice. Very good! The home-made cakes are fantastic. Definitely a visit of your in the lakewood area. This is some really good comfort food. The owner is very nice and i love talking to her while waiting for my order. Good to finally see good soul food in the neighborhood.Food Rating:Short Rib Dinner Pate 8.7/10

Wow, I finally got the chance to try this place! We've tried to go several times before, but it was always closed. We live just down the street, and after grabbing a pancake order, we couldn't resist stopping in for some peach cobbler. My husband ended up getting a full plate, and it was amazing! He's from the South, so it really took us back to that warm Southern hospitality, and the food was spot on. He ordered fried chicken with red beans and rice and potato salad, and Miss Patty was kind enough to share some mac and cheese and chili with us too. The peach cobbler was perfect--sweet and flaky, just right! Highly recommend it, and we'll definitely be back!

The chicken is super juicy and the pieces are large. With the chicken combo they gave me a wing and two legs, each piece perfectly breaded and fried and full of flavor.I tried their Mac and cheese and their red beans and rice for sides and was not disappointed in either. The red beans and rice were smokey and flavorful and the Mac and cheese was baked cheesy goodness with a healthy dose of black pepper. I also loved the cornbread cake that came with everything.As for the peach cobbler it was heaven. I just wished I had some vanilla ice cream at home to top it but it did not need it. The staff was super friendly and the place is small and cozy, definitely more for takeout though they have a couple places to sit. Overall 10/10. I wish I had dropped in sooner and I definitely will be back to try some cake as well!

Food was delicious. Chicken was golden brown and cooked to perfection. Brown gravy had turkey meat, and the hot water corn bread was perfectly prepared. Restaurant is clean and well kept. Customer service was excellent. Can't wait to go back.

Patty cakesLakewood coming in hot with a solid fried chicken spot! We got a variety to share. I can't eat catfish so just chicken, but they do have it, and I bet it is great. Small place designed for to go, which is perfect since we live close.To note they don't have chicken breast, which is not a problem for me since I prefer dark meat, but something to note in advance if you do care. If you do care, I challenge you to rethink it and give it a try either way, it is worth it!#1 fried chicken plate. I think it ka a corn meal crusted fried chicken which isn't traditionally my favorite but this may have changed my mind. The flavor of the chicken and texture of the outside was a wonderful combination. It is that "will-order-this-everytime" kind of fried chicken!#3 baked chicken also with 2 sides and a Johnny cake. This was 2 slow baked chicken thighs that had a beautiful sauce that felt like a great combination of adobo and gravy and served on rice. It was a nice heads up by the employee working register about the rice and gravy since that is a side so I knew not to order since we already get it. The chicken was tender and fall off the bone delicious and my husband destroyed the rice and gravy. We each got 2 sides with the each meal.Mac n cheese was a nice baked Mac and cheese with a great cheddar topping. Exactly how I like it, wouldn't change a thing!Cornbread dressing we got it with gravy. Wonderful fluffy baked stuffing and the gravy wasn't needed but a great addition. It had flavor on its own either way. Red beans and rice. I love beans and I would order it again without the rice so I could have more and we already had the rice and gravy with the chicken. Good flavor, added some hot sauce and loved it.I saved the best for last. The collard greens. First off they appear to be meat free, don't quote me since I didn't ask and would have devoured them with a ham hock or turkey leg in them. The point is they have such a tremendous flavor without meat. The difference with these are the sweetness, like a kiss of BBQ sauce. It was so good I may change how I cook my greens from here out!We finished with a strawberry crunch cake. Moist strong strawberry flavor with what appeared to be a graham cracker crunch and cream cheese frosting center layer, it was fabulous. I got the banana pudding ice cream that is still in my freezer so will try to update the review once I try it.I was so impressed with the homemade and fresh quality of everything we ordered. We will be back for sure.

OKAY Patty!!! I'm so happy I found this place because I personally do not like any soul food or fish places in the Long Beach/Paramount/Lakewood area. I've been here twice and I tried the fried chicken first then the catfish. The catfish is my fav! Some fish places will literally give you fried batter. Like where fish at?! Anyways..the cakes looks bomb. Maybe I'll try something one day. Oh my Goodness! The food is absolutely delicious to say the least and an understatement at that. We got the smothered baked chicken-a foodie's delight that was so dang tasty. You're in for a treat with the deserts. I can't say enough about this Black Woman Own supreme establishment, it clean, delicious and a vibe.
