Absolutely amazing food here. We got the octopus soup with meat, and it was marvelous. I actually never tasted meat SO tender and the tendon within the meat melted in our mouths. The octopus was super fresh as well. Literally massive. And very very tasty. Service here is okay... definitely not the friendliest, but who cares the food is good and they do their job as needed! Ambiance is a mom and pop shop, not the prettiest, but it's one of those places you know is good... One thing is the portions here are for families. You will be spending minimum 100$... I am actually not a fan of them charging us for side dishes, since the entree was already 105$ not including tip and tax. we came out spending 145$ for 5 people ordering one entree. For sure on the more expensive side. Not worth the price in my opinion with service, ambiance, and quality. But still is a delicious little place.

Employees chase after customers if the tip is not enough. This is very unprofessional! Workers should be happy with what they get. Sometimes, a tip is not a lot, but you're getting something. You can't force someone to tip more for services not above and beyond.I tipped them $12; they said it was too little and demanded more. I believe tips should be based on service and the percentage of the total cause of the food. They told me 18%-20%

2 stars for food and 3 stars for services, which is 2.5 stars as average, and I round it off :)Overall the food is OK and authentic, but I feel the ingredients are not fresh nor well selected. Kimchi is not crunchy and sour, meaning it's not fresh and has been fermented for a while. We ordered the mixed seafood pot. The octopus was extremely chewy, I couldn't even bite on some pieces. Snails had some weird smell and taste, couldn't explain, but I knew for sure they were not fresh. There were also just a few (2-3) slices of fish in the pot. 1/2 of the pot was bean sprouts. And this pot was over $130 for large portion, wasn't worth the price, at all. Customer service was OK at first, servers smiled and were helpful and tentative. However, our group of 6 ate a lot of side dishes, since the portion was so small, so they seemed to be annoyed when we kept asking for refill. If they were subtle enough, then gave us larger side dish portions so we wouldn't bother them to refill. Well, first try and was not impressed with the food quality and service I received compared to what I had to pay. Probably wouldn't go back :)

The place's decor felt more of great-grandparents' place than a restaurant, it can be either good or bad depending how you look at it. For the average money you're going to spend here ($100 at least including tip) you would hope they would update it but it has been like this for over decades. I had been coming here for the hot seafood pot for more than 11yrs and nothing changes...alright maybe servers but most are still the same. I have majority of the time the same 2 servers so they sort of knowing me and my family so less attitudes and smiles here and there (which I have to say they are well known for). I had seem them all, chasing after customers for additional tips or ignored customers that they don't like, etc. So is the foods good, yes it was great but as bunch of new restaurants opened, they stayed the same and it can be not a great thing. For me, the broth can be great most of the time 85% and 15% can be not so great or decent. But the meats are excellent, very tender both meats and seafoods. The portion is either small or big and I tended to go with small (for 3) and then some left over. I will come back for more definitely when I'm craving for good old spicy hot pot with ramen on a really cold night.

The place is your mom and pops it's quite the hidden gem. It's a bit old and run down but the food is good. It is very spicy though so if you have a low tolerance I'd recommend you be scarce on the spice level. The corn cheese and sides were delicious. The stew with rib and octopus are my go to. KEEP IN MIND - This place is interesting in that it's not exactly comfortable eating here there are RANDOM RULES. You can't order over a specific amount of noodles with your stew - even if you're paying for it. You have to have a certain amount of people to order a certain size pot. They don't provide you with refills on some of your sides ALSO- they will gawk while you TIP they stare hard requesting a lot for quite mediocre service. WHILE THIS PLACE IS GOOD it's also pretty EXPENSIVE, the rules make the environment a little uncomfortable but in large groups the food, for take out - can be quite worth it.

My family recently dined at On Dal on 12/27/24. We've been here many times because of the quality of the food. The food was very tasty as it but our server tonight had a bad attitude and ignored us many times when we asked for more hot pot broth. The poor service significantly detracted from the experience. To make matters worse, after we paid our bill and left a tip that we felt reflected the service we received, our server followed us outside of the restaurant to ask us for a larger tip because she told us that 10% tip is minimum and demanded. We gave her more tip to make it as 10% and left. We have never seen this before, this was incredibly unprofessional and frankly insulting. Tips are earned through good service, not demanded. Due to the poor service and the server's inappropriate behavior regarding the tip, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

RUN AWAY from this restaurant. Tip is a must here. Or else the servers there will chase after you. I went there with my friends last week. Our bill was $120. We had 3 people. So we decided to tip $15 cash. The lady server chased after us with our tip in her hand and said "tip $6?????" We asked her to count again and it was $15. Wth...TIP IS OPTIONAL

The food is really good and the service is super. The waitresses are really nice and friendly and they won't let you do anything and do everything for you.I ordered the Spicy Beef Rib Casserole with Octopus small size for 3 people as it is what this place is famous for. After including tax and tips it was $122. Make sure you order the ramen. It tastes much better with ramen than udon.Definitely recommend it and will visit again. The moment I wrote this review, I already returned here for the second time as my family loves the food here. You can also order this togo if you don't want to wait as this place is kinda small, so it will take a while to dine in.Highly recommend!

Authentic Korean soul food with good combinations of seafood soup and braised seafood seammered in traditional sauce. Mostly local Koreans seem to come here so it is a good thing , the official close time is 10pm but the last call is around 9pm. Spicy raw crab is very fresh and the sauce tastes much better than other places. Large size can easily feed 4 people. Many people complain about the service. But In an authentic Korean restaurant, I know they just don't greet the customers, answer every question and provide customized food. Service really needs improvement

I really love Ondal ! I crave their rich broth (that is a little sweet and spicy) and tender beef rib casserole and all the little dishes ! Super authentic flavors Service was really nice and quick. They even packed my food to go ! Not sure why the rating is so low ? But they don't need Yelp to stay busy and have survived Covid . Ondal is here to stay because the food is soooooo delicious!
