Morena's Mexican Cuisine

Love this place! The service is great and the food is authentic and amazing. Oh, and the drinks? Very nice!!

Let me start by saying that I really wanted to like this place, but it was below average across the board and cannot recommend it. The service was a mess and so was the place. It was just dirty. The host sat us at a dirty table outside and then came back to clean the table next to us but not the table we were sitting at. It's clear this place is popular with people who have kids as there tons of kids running around, which is fine, but the place was a mess - a dirty mess. Even the bathrooms were dirty. On to the food. The chips and salsa are great. So was the Cadillac Margarita. That's where we should have stopped. Next up was the Esquites - this is described as "Grilled corn prepared with tajin, mayonnaise, and cotija cheese." Sounds good but what showed up was a bowl of corn soup with a lump of mayo in the middle. Not grilled at all. I'm pretty sure it was canned corn. I asked for a spoon and it never came. Then we ordered the fish tacos and the chicken tacos. Yes, they had fun names but they were not very good. The fish tacos were so so at best and came with black beans that were cold and a white rice (which was good). We also had the chicken tacos (which were dripping in grease - each bite it oozed out) with Spanish rice and refried beans. Of course they never gave us utensils so we had to ask for forks and napkins. Never did get my spoon. They never came back to fill our waters or even ask if I wanted a second drink (maybe that would have helped). Overall disappointing. Will not be back.

A good place for your mexican food fix. We happened to be in the area of RMV and just wanted something to eat so we ran into this place. I ordered the street taco plate and honestly everything was pretty delicious. I finished the whole plate and this is coming from someone who doesn't really enjoy refried beans. The tacos were solid but I'd rather have them on corn tortillas and I feel like I've just had better, especially someone who been to San Diego and LA for street tacos. The service was quick and friendly and the overall vibe inside the restaurant was nice. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area to try other items

The only thing better than their food is their service!!! What amazing,friendly staff! Restaurant is clean and tidy. My burrito was on the lunch menu, $15, and the size of a small child! Insane size and super juicy.

D18 - Morena's Mexican CuisineAR & I chose Morena's Mexican Cuisine for our midweek date night mostly due to it's location. Also, AR still had a lot of work to do that evening so we agreed that Morena's would be the best spot for dinner. Morena's is located within the Sendero Market Place which is about as close to a mid-point for both of us. The restaurant is central to both our locations so it made a perfect place for a nice dinner.The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded. There were tables with families, friends, and quite a few children. (i.e. - Noisy) Since it was date night, AR & I decided to grab a table on the outside patio. It was a bit chilly but thankfully there were outdoor patio heaters, that helped. We had the entire patio to ourselves. It was nice & quiet... However, I do believe that we were forgotten about @ the end of the evening. I had to go inside to ask for the check and to-go boxes. Aside from that, it was a great date night. We went on the weekend for the second time after not having been there for years. It was delicious. The patio is nice when the weather is good and it's in a great little center (we went to Yogurtland after with our kids for dessert). The service was great. Attentive without being too intrusive. I find it very rude when waiters are constantly interrupting conversation, but that did not happen here, yet we didn't feel forgotten. I had the fish tacos and my husband and kids enjoyed the mixed fajitas. The fajitas are served on a sizzling plate. Tortillas are nice and fresh and the chips and salsa were also good! Next time we plan to ask for some of the avocado salsa to have with our chips!

Nice spot in Rancho Mission Viejo. We stopped in to Morena's for an early dinner. Carlos B. and Carlos R. helped us out and were both fantastic servers with excellent customer service and people skills. We started with drinks and guacamole, which were great. The Don Julio Blanco with club soda and three limes muddled were mixed to perfection. My wife ordered the chicken enchiladas verdes with rice and beans and loved the dish. The chicken was well cooked and the food tasty. I had the asada asada platter, which was good but more like a NY steak but still tasty with rice, beans, and a cheese enchilada. The chips, salsa, and tortillas were also fresh and tasty. The ambiance was positive, and the establishment appeared to be popular amongst the locals. We also found out that Morena's is also in Lake Forest, where Mimi's Cafe used to be. Highly recommended.

It was a last minute choice. We were very happy with the food. We had carnitas, tacos, and enchiladas. All great. The place was redecorated, clean and neat. It was 6:30 on a Sunday and we got excellent service, hot food and cheesecake desert. I am not sure what they could have done better, thus the top rating.

One of the best places to come and Network. Hilda was so awesome even placed my left over OJ in a Togo cup.
