WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK!!!! I don't know how many times i've been here but it's just something about their simplicity of the food that makes me wanna come back for more! Soupy, warm, affordable if you order the XL set for 2 ( it comes with 2 sets of soup & UNLIMITED veggies, UNLIMITED RICE ) with XL beef cut set! Oh! Don't forget to marinade their meat, so much better. My brother loves all you can eat and he can EAT A LOT. Even for a guy, he thinks this is a good filling dinner! Love evrything about it! Tips: don't forget to waitlist 1 mile before arriving as it can be a LONGGG LINE over the weekend

Horrible customer service. My son found a string of hair from food, and when I pointed out to the server, she just looked at me in the eyes and said, "what do you want me to do?" At that point, we were already done with half the meat, and my husband wanted me to not cause commotion, so I let it go. Once we were done with food, the server brought out the check and it didnt reflect any discount, which other places usually offer as customer service for sanitary issues like this. I asked the server why the discount was not reflected, and she said the owner doesn't give discounts for situations like this. She then turned around on me and said "you should've told me to get you a whole new plate of meat." So I asked her to bring it out, and she said "it's too late now." How horrible customer is that?! She never even apologized and went into the kitchen and never bothered to come out after that encounter.Way to ruin the family dining out day!

"We don't refill veggies any more."I can't, in good conscience, give this place anything more than 1 star- with prices as they are, I don't think an extra $0.10 of cabbage is too much to simply expect.Penny wise and pound foolish, I will not be returning and I'd suggest that anyone reading this review should consider a better alternative- there are plenty of good shabu joints around here.

Split a large toro and tried out the other wagyu on the menu. I don't think I would get the oyster wagyu again but the toro was bomb as always. They give unlimited refill on veggies so we went hard on those because my insides are a mess. Usually I end up full and miserable but this time turned out pretty ok.Would definitely keep coming back.

Mokkoji is a shabu shabu restaurant with multiple locations across Southern California. This location in Fountain Valley is in a plaza and can be difficult to find parking during lunch and dinner times. We ordered the shareable marinated mokkoji cut which was enough for two people. We got two different broths and the pot they provided had a separator for them.Like the other locations they allow you to order extra veggies. Unlike other locations that might use a burner built-in to the counter, this location uses butane burners and puts them on the tables. Because of the small space and the bulkiness of the burners, there might not be enough space to fit all the food on the table. However, the food itself was good and filling.

I brought my friends to try this place because I had a great first time. This time did not disappoint. Everyone was incredibly satisfied with the meal. For a table of 5, we ordered a share size of the toro and 1 beef sampler set for 2. This came with 4 sets of rice and veggies which was enough to feed everyone. The broths were all delicious, especially when they reduced: spicy miso, sukiyaki, fire crab, and spicy pork broth. Service was a bit sloppy when we went. It seemed like there were only 2 staff running food, taking orders, seating people, and handling the bill. They forgot our drinks and and extra utensilI was sad to see they downgraded their dessert. It used to be macaroon ice cream sandwiches but now it's a single melona bar.

We waited 1.5 hrs with yelp waitlist on weekends. I did not realize how popular this location is. As always I got the sukiyaki broth and beef toro/belly set. Love the hot drops they provide for the broth and sauces. Mokkoji will always be my no. 1 shabu spot! Perfect spot for the winter!

I was never a shabu fan until I tried Mokkoji. It's soo delicious, I can never get enough! All of my visits here have been great, from the service I receive, the food, the environment, everything is a 10/10. Depending on what time you go during the day, parking might be a little difficult since the plaza is a bit small. I usually get the Original broth with a Regular Toro, but if I'm feeling extra hungry, I would get the large and give my boyfriend whatever I can't finish. My boyfriend likes the Spicy Pork Broth, which is also really good but keep in mind, that one is $5 extra. The order comes with ponzu and peanut sauce, a bowl of white rice, and veggies/udon/tofu. The meat is plated so beautifully, you can't help but snap a picture. Not only that, but it's such good quality. I've had shabu meats where it's too dry or chewy and wasn't enjoyable. But that's never the case here, leaving me with a good lasting impression every single time. Some things to note: They do offer indoor and outdoor seating (I prefer sitting indoors). The price might seem a little expensive (my order comes out to around $25-$30) but for the amount of food you get + the quality, it's always worth it in my opinion. For your broth and/or sauces, the servers ask if you want hot drops but if you're not a fan for spice, beware because even just one drop is SPICY! Don't underestimate those tiny drops. Also Mokkoji is not AYCE, but even though that's the case, the amount of meat they give is enough to fill me up. 10/10!!!

Service was great! We were seated right away during New Year's Eve. Food is always exceptional. My go to choice of meat is the fatty toro, the meat melts in your mouth and the sauce they marinate the meat with tastes so good. This mokkoji location seats people at the bar, indoor, and outdoors!
