Mochinut - Newport Beach

Tucked inside the food court at Fashion Island, you will find one of the few Mochinuts in the OC. What are mochinuts you ask? Well, if you haven't jumped on the TikTok bandwagon yet they are basically a mix of traditional American donuts and Japanese Mochi. Made with rice and tapioca flour, they come in the signature "pon de ring" shape that makes them very identifiable. I've been curious about them for awhile but never wanted to cheat on my classic doughnuts. When the glistening new mochinuts caught my eye, I figured it might be the time to start trying other doughnuts lol When I finally caved and purchased some and opened my box of mochinuts, I was pleasantly surprised. I would best describe them as soft, chewy, but not too sticky. Flavors were very mild and despite the enticing decorative toppings, the mochinuts all tasted relatively the same. Additionally, I recommend you devour these morsels when they are fresh as they don't age well with time. By the next morning, the toppings started melting off the tops of my mochinuts. Were they still edible? Yes but I would recommend placing it in the microwave for about 15 seconds to soften them again. Overall, It was a great first experience and I definitely recommend giving them a whirl! Happy Eats!

$14 for 3 donuts!? I know you're in the Newport Beach but come on. What on earth!!? Inflation is rough. I'll pass.....

Boba review number 8, Donuts are so good, but the boba... not so much, the matcha boba was too sweet.

The cutest selection of mochi donuts! Would recommend for a snack for the holidays. The freshest and most delicious.

I've tried the mochinuts in the past and always solid. This time I tried the ramen corn dog. Yummy! Very nice crunch and flavor added to the classic corn dog. 9/10. It takes about 5 mins for them to make. This location is nice and clean in the fashion island food court.

So yummy! It was my first time trying a Korean corn dog and I definitely wasn't disappointed. Totally understand the hype now.

Came here on a Sunday since we were in the area shopping. -Ube. Sprinkles were really hard but flavor was good. 4/5-Pumpkin spice. Barely tasted any pumpkin. The chocolate syrup was the only thing I could taste for the parts that had it on there. 3/5-Strawberry funnel. Tasted like a strawberry funnel cake. Messy to eat because of the powdered sugar. 3.5/5-Brown sugar drink. Good but really sweet as is. 3.5/5-Thai tea. Tasted different than the normal Thai tea everywhere else. A bit floral. Wouldn't get it again. 3/5Much better warm. Enjoyed the rest at home after putting it in the microwave for a few seconds. Would recommend since Modo closed down.

Located in the food court. It's 5pm on a Saturday evening and they're not busy at all. The Korean Corndogs are made fresh, so it does take quite a while for them to come out. Totally worth it though because they're amazing! My family got the Potato Original and rated it 9/10, and the Half and Half was apparently so good they couldn't stop eating it long enough to give me a rating haha. The Ube drink and the Brown Sugar Boba are bomb too. They also got the Cookies and Cream, S'mores, and Strawberry Funnel Cake Mochinuts and absolutely LOVED them! I'm on a special diet so I couldn't partake in any of the goodness, but let me tell you it all smells and looks amazing! I'll definitely be coming here if I'm ever able to eat it, and my family will definitely be returning. The food court is very clean and modern, with more than enough seating. 10/10 for Mochinut!

I am so happy that this location has 3 size options for mochi donuts, you can choose from 3 pieces, half dozen, and one dozen. Have 7 flavors. We got half a dozen, and they all tasted very good. my favorite one is the original, less sweet. We also got an ube drink with boba, not sure if it is made from powder or real ube, but it has a strong use taste, and sadly can't change the sugar level. So turned out to be too sweet for me, It came in a pretty cool can bottle. Service is nice, you can also try samples of the mochi donuts.The shop is located in the food court of Fashion Island in the building next to Dick's sports building. Be aware it could take a while to walk there if you park on the other side of fashion island. All in all, I would say the taste is beyond average, but not as tasty as regular donuts. I will give a 4 stars.

Located in the food court at the fashion island mall. Worker was kind and welcoming. Ended up ordering the green apple lemonade, green tea boba tea. Hot cheetos and ramen corn dog. The boba was absolutely delicious and tasty. The corn dogs were amazing as well. Both unique flavors in themselves. Highly recommend
