Arrived on a Sunday evening for OC Restaurant week. Plenty of seating and were sat quickly. The server was nice and attentive. We did both the $20 and $25 per person options and were pretty happy with all the food. The shredded tofu skin was not as soft as homemade, but the flavor was nice. The Hot & Sour Chaoshou had a pleasant tang flavor. The beef in the beef noodle was nice and tender and the spice level (3) seemed perfect. I think I prefer flat noodles for this dish over their spaghetti type, but it was still yummy. The Pupkin Rice Pancakes were like mochi balls and pretty delicious, too.

We knew that it was OC Restaurant Week this week and made plans to have lunch there today after an appointment elsewhere. Daughters had never been to the restaurant before. I believe that I have been once a while's back with my husband. Howard the staff member asked if it was our first time at the restaurant. He said that we could order using the QR code. I asked if the OC Restaurant Week menu would be on there. He said that he would bring the menus to us. He returned with the menus and a carafe of water and 3 cups for us. He gave us some time to look over the menus and came back once again to take our orders. Older daughter ordered from the $25 lunch menu Chili Oil Dumplings, Tomato Beef Noodles, and a hot brown sugar ginger tea. Other daughter ordered from the $20 lunch menu Pickled Cucumbers, Chengdu Zajiang Noodles, a lime passion fruit tea and added Pumpkin Rice Pancakes for an extra $2.50 for dessert. I ordered also from the $20 lunch menu the Seaweed Salad, the Golden Soup Chicken Noodles, and a strawberry smoothie. The seaweed salad and pickled cucumbers were delivered by a woman from the kitchen. Another man brought the strawberry smoothie and in error the brown sugar milk tea. We informed him of the drink error when he came with the last drink of the lime passion fruit tea. He went and redid the drink and brought back the hot brown sugar ginger tea taking away the wrong drink. Our noodles came out next. The Golden Soup Chicken Noodles was exactly what I had wanted on this cold, windy day. It wasn't salty and it was rich in sweetness. I liked the bok choy in the soup and would not have minded if there were more. I also liked how the chicken meat was shredded. The hot appetizer of Chili Oil Dumplings had been forgotten and wasn't brought until the person who ordered them was halfway through her noodle dish. She had to rinse off some of the hot spicy sauce. We had come at around 11:40 a.m. before peak lunch time and as we were eating the surrounding tables began to fill. The restaurant is modern with neon signs and clean. Tables line the sides with a high bar top in the center.Husband wasn't able to join us for lunch and we ordered to go a beef roll and chicken cutlet. The pumpkin rice pancakes were delicious hot. They were glutinous, fried, sweet, sprinkled with coconut and had lotus seed filling? Our takeouts were brought to the table. We needed to ask for to go containers. We were able to pay at our table with a mobile device that Howard carried around.Girls said that they would return again for soup noodles. We learned that mung bean soup which is served can help with any spiciness from dishes.

So the menu is online. You scan a QR code at the table that pulls up the menu and you place your order on your phone. You're able to add items to your initial order after sending it to the kitchen. So at the online menu, the Zaijiang noodles has the option of not spicy, which is what we ordered for our kid. Turns out the noodles are actually still spicy. I would definitely stay away from this dish if you're looking for something with zero spice. The chicken fried rice was 100% not spicy.Overall I enjoyed the food and chewy noodle soup. My kid, not so much lol. Oops.

One of my favorite Chinese food spots! I recently learned about Sichuan peppercorn and the "numbing" spice and was super excited to try that out.We ordered a wood ear mushroom cold appetizer, a chili noodle, and a soup. These were to die for! The wood ear mushroom was a perfect balance of salty, tart and sweet. The tofu noodles were some of the most flavorful I've ever eaten no joke. The noodle texture was so chewy and not too soft, and the Sichuan peppercorns made for such an interesting experience in my mouth!! It really does numb it but feels nice haha. I'd recommend Mian to anyone visiting south coast plaza or in that area.

Wow! I am so impressed with Mian. We waited in line for 15 minutes but it was so worth it. Probably the most authentic braised beef noodle soup. The 1000 year egg was my absolute favorite and it was perfect with the noodles. Fried donut with soymilk is a childhood favorite of mine and definitely worth getting here! 10/10 would come back again. It was absolutely delish! Service was great too. Highly recommended.

im pretty new to Sichuan food, so i was pretty excited to try this restaurant after a long day of shopping . we were quickly seated and you order using a qr code on the table. the restaurant was spacious and had lots of lunar new year decor 1. spicy and sweet radish - i LOVED the crunchy, chewy texture. it had good spice level and def numbs your tongue. 2. spicy beef soup with level 2 spice - not really spicy at all but the beef was tender and the broth was so comforting. it wasnt hot though :(3. chengdu zajiang noodles with level 2 spice - the sauce was really good and coated the noodles well. good amount of pork and bok choy. the egg was fried in advanced (they pulled the eggs out of a "toppings" station) so it was just room temp and not soft. perfect spicy/numb level4. chili oil chaoshou - soft and tender dumplings. the chili oil is on the sweeter side and wasnt really spicy. had really good flavor though!!5. taro milk tea - refreshing after all the spicy foods. i liked that it uses real taro

Great that they have more than one vegetarian/vegan entree option! Service is very fast and I never have to wait long to be seated. However, I've tried both the Sichuan Hot & Sour Soup Noodles and Mapo Tofu Noodles and while they are both very flavorful, I have to say they lay on the numbing (麻) too much with not enough spiciness(辣) on both dishes. It mutes the other flavors and takes over. I love Sichuan cuisine but it's so important to get that balance right! Also had the sweet and spicy radish and it was a little too sweet, not enough spicy.Maybe in a pinch at the mall I'll go again but definitely not my first choice.

Had been wanting to check out Mian for awhile and finally had the opportunity to pay SCP and Mian a visit. Waited about 5 mins in the queue right outside the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm.The atmosphere is open and airy and a solid pick for small or larger groups.QR code on the table, scan in, and order via their easy to use platform. We ordered the spicy beef noodle soup, chili oil wontons, and beef roll pancake; opted for medium Sichuan spice for all the dishes which seemed to suit us well. All the items came out within 10ish mins and everything was really good. My overall ranking: 1) chili oil wontons 2) beef roll pancake 3) spicy beef noodle soup - but honestly, everything was flavorful and delicious. We asked for some chili oil on the side to dip the beef roll pancake. The pricing is decent as well, especially considering this is a poppin' spot in SCP. I'd be back to try different items.

I had never tried this place so I wanted to try it out. The line appeared long, but luckily the wait was not too long as the employees were quick to manage the tables. To view the menu, you can either scan the QR code at the table or ask for a paper menu. Similarly, to order, you can either directly order on the phone via the QR code that is at the edge of the table or notify a server that you would like to order. Our party ordered the spicy beef rice noodle soup (spicy level can be adjusted) and beef and tomato noodle soup (not spicy). The rice noodle appeared similar to the regular noodle. The difference was in the texture. The regular noodle is a little bit more squiggly. Our party also ordered the Chinese donut (note to those who have not had Chinese donuts: this is savory, not sweet) and pickled cucumber appetizer. The broth was flavorful for both the spicy beef rice noodle soup and the beef and tomato noodle soup. I liked the spicy kick in the spicy beef rice noodle soup. The beef and tomato noodle soup had a nice strong tomato broth flavor. The Chinese donut was flaky and fresh. The pickled cucumbers were okay. They had a bit too much vinegar to my liking. Overall, the broth of the noodle soups were great, but I felt that the portion of noodles and the vegetables was a bit small. I felt that my bowl was mainly filled with broth and a little bit of noodles and vegetables.

Honestly, the Sichuan style noodles here are pretty good. There is an old school Chinese spot in the bay that I used to frequent as a kid (queue nostalgic music) when my parents were separating... and these noodles reminded me of their "Dan Dan Noodle" aka what my dad would call "Chinese Spaghetti. I remember those noodles to be half the price, double the size; but I guess this is 2024, not 1998.The flavor itself is great. I don't know if the spicy is is even spicy, so if you like spice, definitely go for the extra spicy. I won't make that mistake next time. I don't understand the egg. It was baiscally an over-hard-well-done egg. Somehow I think a runny or maybe even slightly jammy egg like in ramen would be be better here. Maybe that's a Sichuan practice I'm not aware of. Didn't add anything to the dish. (Sans, a few extra grams of protein)Service was.... well service. On an random Wednesday, practically empty, I was promptly seated, ordered, and was given my food within 5 minutes. a Carafe of water is given, so need to watch over. I did have to flag the server to get my bill, but I guess that's by design as to not rush people.Overall, I'd maybe try it again, or something else on the menu.... however $17 including tip was a bit on the high side for the portion. Then again, this is located in SCP.
