L&L Hawaiian Barbecue

Tried their 2 item mix combo with short ribs and chicken katsu + spam musubi. The food was phenomenal and so delicious. It truly hit that Hawaiian bbq comfort food spot. I cant recommend them enough!The staff are super friendly and helpful! The restaurant itself was clean and playing fun Christmas music which is very fitting for the times. Love this place and can't wait to visit again!

Love the food here and definitely love the customer service! I originally ordered a Hawaiian BBQ chicken plate and paid. Saw that there was a Combination Mix plate after the fact and requested to make a change. Told them that l would pay the difference but the owner upgraded my order free of charge! MAHALO!!!

So I'm at Heritage Plaza at Culver & I-5 and I'm craving a hamburger. In the Plaza, you've got Wendy's and The Habit which are within walking distance of each other. But you're talking almost twenty bucks nowadays for scaled down double burgers. That wasn't going to work for me. In the same Plaza, sitting next to the CVS Pharmacy, there's this little place called L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. Although their main bill of fare consists of Asian food, I heard that they made hamburgers too. So I go in there and ordered a double cheeseburger combo. The burger patties were a good quarter pound each, with freshly cut tomatoes, lettuce and onions. It was basically massive. But the biggest surprise was the fries... Fried specifically for my meal, (not just kept heated until served like regular fast-food) the volume was MASSIVE and I couldn't eat them all and wound up taking the remainder home. The final surprise was that it all came under twelve bucks. To repeat, ONLY TWELVE BUCKS !!!This was a total winning deal !!! So, if you've got a craving for a burger and fries, this is the place to come to !

Stopped by for a quick bite as we were craving Hawaiian bbq. It's been awhile since my last time at L&L but I've missed it. Upon entering I was surprised that prices had gone up the amount they did but after receiving the food I'm less disappointed as their serving sizes are massive.We ordered the Hawaiian bbq mix, two item plate, and a bbq chicken sandwich. The Hawaiian bbq mix includes bbq beef, one kalbi short ribs and bbq chicken and of course rice and Mac salad. Unfortunately it only comes with one slab of short ribs, but there was enough bbq beef and chicken to feed at least 2 adults and maybe a child. The bbq beef was alright - shaved pretty thin and the marinade was a little salty to my taste, but everything else on the plate was extremely tender and flavorful.The staff was super nice and since there weren't many people in line when we went they even brought the food to our table for us.

This fast casual eatery (part of a small chain) has been in this plaza for a very long time. For some reason, even though I've passed by it for years, I've never eaten here. And for some reason, on this particular day after shopping at the nearby Mitsuwa, I stopped in for lunch.Nothing fancy inside but there are a number of tables in this small space. The service is warm and friendly. I ordered the chicken katsu; it comes with macaroni salad and rice as sides. They offer a mini or regular size and I went with the latter. Regular ended up being a lot of food for the price, a great bargain; you won't leave hungry!In about five minutes my piping hot meal was delivered in a container to the table I chose to sit at. The chicken pieces, both dark and white meat, were good quality and covered in a katsu sauce that was quite tasty. I'm not the biggest macaroni salad lover but I really liked the one they make here and ate every bite. The rice was rice, nothing special, but they include a boatload of it. I honestly couldn't finish it all.I had a solid, enjoyable meal here. If you want to fill your hungry tummy and not break the bank, this is the place!

This is our go to meal if we feellike not cooking. I order the chicken katsu and bbq mix for a family of 5 adults. I just make extra rice at home. Their servings are huge and food is consistently good. We also sometimes order their spamMusubi and it does not disappoint.Service is always good and fast.

The spirit of aloha is strong at this location. You will be treated with an aloha greeting when you walk in or shortly thereafter, and if you adjust yourself just a little, it will feel like you're in Hawaii, especially with the Hawaiian music playing softly in the background and the gentle vibe of the place. The plate lunches are authentic and compare favorably to the plate lunches to be found in Hawaii. I'm thinking, for example, of Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahina on Maui (I hope it's able to come back after the terrible fire) and a place the name of which I can't recall in Hana. I like the Kalua Pork mixed plate and the Kalua Pork and Short Ribs combo mixed plate. They come with the proteins and, of course, two scoops of rice and one scoop of macaroni salad. The portions are generous. One plate is enough for two people or two meals. It's my understanding that this family run business has been in business 20 years. It's not hard to understand why. When you get a craving for a great plate lunch or just want to try one out, you can't go wrong with this place.Aloha. p.s. my pics are better if you click on them.

I have only ordered from here via a food delivery service but I have I been impressed every time I order from here. They do not skimp on the portions like some L&L locations which is greatly appreciated.I ordered the BBQ mix plate and wow was it packed with delicious Hawaiian barbecue meats. My favorite for sure is the short rib but the chicken and the Hawaiian BBQ beef is always great. Also the mac salad is on point.

We've been here numerous times. During the early part of the pandemic when everything was takeout only, then outdoor patio dining, and finally indoor dining is available.The Monday special Spam Musubi has gone up from $1.00 to $1.50, but still a good price.I only noticed today that saimin is on the menu! The lady behind the register says it's always been on the menu, but I guess I always got the plate lunch in the past. My saimin with BBQ chicken included carrots, broccoli, and green onions. There was a good amount of chicken, so I was happy.Hubby got his usual Chicken Katsu Curry plate, which comes with rice and macaroni salad.It was nice to hear everyone greeted with a cheery, "Aloha!" when they got to the counter to place their order.Another nice option to my plate lunch!

I came today around noon to place an order for catering for a party. The cashier, an older Asian lady, was very rude to me. She told me she could not take the catering order because there was a lunch rush. She told me to step aside so that two people behind me could order, which I did. Then I went back in line because the restaurant was completely empty (see photo). She ignored me and pretended to be busy, to the point one of the kitchen staff pointed out that I was waiting and she said "I know. But it's a catering order." She started to take my order and then asked me to move to the side when another customer came in. One of the customers who I assumed is a regular asked her, "How is your day?" And the cashier said "Bad. I have to take a catering order." At that point the customer looked at me because it was obvious I was the one waiting in line to place a catering order. I had to laugh because this lady could not be serious. After that ridiculousness I left. The treatment I received today was really unacceptable. This is disappointing because I have been going to L&L's for 15 years. But the cashier acted as if she was doing me a favor by taking my order. I also tried to call an order in last night but the restaurant randomly closed early at 4pm! This was a very disappointing experience and I believe the owner / management should be made aware.Edited to add that I drove to another Hawaiian place after this interaction and the cashier there was normal. She took my order, we set a time for pickup, and I paid. It took less than 2 minutes!
