Kyoto Japanese Cuisine

Went back again, especially since we had such a good time before. Sad to say that Chef Ichi is no longer there, but we had Jeffery, and he was working hard to fill all the orders as quick as he could. I said this in my previous review, but it bears repeating here again...the food and the fish is so fresh it is amazing. The portion sizes are large and filling. Such care is taken in its assembly and presentation. There was a little wait time between getting our items, but it was because it was slamming busy, not the chefs or the kitchens' fault. But when we did get an order (at sushi bar) it was perfect every time.Staff was great about coming around, made sure we had beers and drinks. The place was clean, and the atmosphere was lively and popping but not overly loud like some places get. Another great experience, we will be back. I have already personally recommended this place to two people who have gone since my first review. They loved it just as much as we did and now want it on their regular rotation as well. Great job Kyoto staff.I'll post pictures of what we got. Yes, it did taste as good as it looks!

First review since the ownership change from Uoko. It's still pretty good. We came at 5:15 pm on a Sunday and our party of 4 was seated right away. The service was friendly and efficient.

Came late Friday (8 pm) and there were a decent chunk of people here. We decided to sit at the bar and ordered the huge boat combination. Initially the waiters were concerned about not being able to fit the boat on the sushi bar but the chef assured it was okay so we ended up getting the boat plus a few pieces of sushi. Here are my thoughts.Combination Boat - Some items were really good and other were just okay. I enjoyed the dumplings, beef, tempuras, California rolls, and karaage. The sesame chicken was chicken breasts so it was a bit on the drier side, as well as the cooked salmon. Portions were pretty big and can easily share with 3-4 people. Not bad for $70. (4.5/5)Bluefin Sushi - Absolutely delicious and the chef made it so delicately. Fish was very fresh and melt in your mouth. Easy (5/5).Fresh Seawater Eel - Warm, melty goodness on rice. Was fresh and didn't need extras. This is a must get. (5/5)Overall I enjoyed the experience and the food here. Place is definitely a vibe, people were buying the sushi chef drinks while he was being very entertaining. Many others were getting omakase and the chef selected some pretty good looking cuts. Overall it's a bit pricey but it was very good for what it was. Total was $110 for the combination boat, 2 pieces of eel sushi, 2 pieces of bluefin sushi, and 2 drinks. We took home a good portion of the combination boat so it was filling. Solid place for good eats and entertainment.

We sat at the sushi bar and Eric the chef were great. He's taking care of us entire time. The food were tasted so good and fresh. Great service and nice environment. FYI new management will take over starting January 29th, 2025. Last day for the current crews will be Tuesday January 28th, 2025.

Make sure u request Eric as your sushi chef and sit at the bar and u will not regret. Eric is highly experienced and knows how to arrange sushi types to make it a perfect experience. All sushi were optimal and fresh. I highly recommend if you haven't tried it here.

This restaurant is a great spot for Japanese food with a traditional vibe. They have an area with low tables on tatami mats. It feels very nice seeing this. The service was attentive and friendly. The live sushi bar is my favorite, especially the Santa Barbara uni, which was fresh and delicious. Unfortunately they didn't have tuna belly and a5 wagyu when I went. These two were the higher priced items on the menu and I didn't know if they usually out of stock or just that I was unlucky on that day but if not for this I'd have given a solid 5 star without doubts!

Loved the food and service here! Ambiance was also nice. The chef was very accommodating and entertaining and there was lots of parking! I would love to try more sushi and sashimi next time I come back!

Family friends invited my family to Kyoto on Friday night for dinner. This was the first time I dined in the restaurant and I was so pleasantly surprised! We ordered a bunch of sushi and everything was absolutely delicious. So fresh and amazing flavor!My favorite roll was the Godzilla/gorilla roll (the menu calls it Godzilla but the sushi menu says gorilla haha). It was incredible!! The sashimi was also so delicious and fresh, and every dish we ordered tasted incredibly fresh. I left so full and I can't wait to go back!! I definitely rescind my previous statement about the sushi - it was sooo good!

A friend had recommended this restaurant, albeit when it had a different name and owner. We went on a Friday night around 6:30PM and there was no wait.The interior is fun and wooden, with a sushi bar as well as tables. The sushi chefs and several waiters were Japanese, always a good sign. The menu is a medium size, with prices very fair. The owner/manager walked around the restaurant and checked in frequently with guests. Service was friendly, though there was a bit of a wait before someone came to take our order or to flag down someone to ask for the check.We ordered the chirashi bowl and hamachi kama plate (yellowtail cheek). The food was very tasty, and both meals came with salad and miso soup (interestingly, there were thin noodles in the miso soup). Overall, a pleasant dinner and I would recommend Kyoto Japanese Cuisine!

Just changed ownership and the sushi and presentation was excellent. Service was also excellent!
