$2.90 a piece. Mango is delicious!! Green tea has too much powder but still yummy. Great quality
Let these sit a bit before eating or it'd be too hard. They were good, powdery outside and chewy inside with good filling

The best mochi I've tried so far. Their mochi is served a little frozen but let it thaw for a few minutes and you'll be biting into the softest, most delicate piece of mochi ever. Every time I come to Mitsuwa, I always have to get their mochi because it never disappoints. These are most of the flavors I've tried so far:Peach yogurtBlueberry yogurtRaspberry Mille-feuilleMatchaDouble mangoCaramel puddingHoney cranberry SakuraApple pieBlack sesameMy favorites are the black sesame, double mango, and peach yogurt for their strong flavors. Honestly I've enjoyed every flavor here because they seriously make amazing fillings for all the mochi. I highly recommend checking them out when you visit Mitsuwa or come here just for the mochi!

Oh my goodness! Fugetsudo sells high end sweets and the best wafers in Southern California. If you visit Mitsuwa Market Place in Costa Mesa, do yourself a favor and stop by this shop. It is located right in the middle of the facility. In regards to the wafers, they are called Petites Grafres from Japan. They come in a couple of sizes. Each size is packaged in an aluminum canister, and the canister is wrapped in decorated paper. Very classy. Now these things are cheap, but they are unique. The wafers are thin and very fresh. In the middle of the fresh wafer, you will find a thin layer of either vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry. You can get twelve individually wrapped packages containing three wafers each for $18. I also enjoy the Gaufrier L'espoir wafers. These wafers are thicker and covered in chocolate. Inside, you will find overlapping layers of vanilla and wafer. This is a great snack with a cup of great tea or coffee. You can get twelve pieces for $18. I can't wait to go back to the market place and get some more. The last batch only lasted a day. I should also mention they give you a free sample with each purchase!

4 stars for the delicious mochi... in ALL KINDS OF FLAVORS!!!! I'm addicted! I haven't tried any of their other desserts because I fill up on the mochi, but they do carry a large selection of items.1 star off only because it's a little pricey... Almost $2 per piece. Still, can't come around Mitsuwa market without stopping here for mochi!

Whenever I crave mochi, I head over to Kobe Fugetsudo. It reminds me of vacationing in Japan and shopping in the mall food courts which have tons of goodies. One of my favorites is this sakura mochi that I love to eat while drinking a bowl of matcha.

Located inside Mitsuwa, this little place sells some imported packages of fancy cookies that make great gifts. However my attempt to buy some on two occasions went as badly as could possibly be imagined.Christmas season 2012:I came here to get several boxes of Gaufres as gifts. I stood at the counter while two workers walked back and forth, completely ignoring me. There were no other customers and I was trying to make eye contact to get someone to help me to no avail. It was so bizarre that no one was asking to help me; like I was invisible. In the next 5 minutes two other customers walked up and were quickly helped. I was confused...was I doing something wrong? Do you need a number or a secret password to buy something? The workers continued to walk past me with no eye contact. "Excuse me," I said, several times without recognition. A third customer walked up and was helped while I continued to be ignored. I walked away wondering, is it because I'm Caucasian and the other customers were Asian? I left without the gifts I wanted to purchase and feeling somewhat humiliated. Flashforward to Christmas season 2013:I decided to come back and try again to purchase Gaufres. I walked up to the counter and saw no employees or customers. After a minute, two employees came out from the back room. I smiled and waved then pointed into the display case at what I desired to purchase. One employee never even looked my way while the other quickly diverted her eyes and continued conversation with her co-worker. It was happening all over again! What is the deal, why am I being so blatantly ignored? Is it because of my ethnicity or gender or....???? Not wanting to go through the same long ordeal I went through last year, I walked away...again...never to return. But I did...Christmas 2015. I was finally helped but had to be very aggressive about it. It took 3 years but I finally got my stupid cookies.

**** Disclaimer ****They have tea, mochi, donuts, cakes, sweets etc. I was looking for mochi for my little Yelp buddy, and happened to find these "mochi" (rice cake in Japanese). This is the review only for their "mochi". ************************- Locale Destination - It's on Paularino Ave and Bristol St in Costa Mesa. It's in "Mitsuwa" (Japanese supermarket) building - actually in front of the supermarket's registers. It's small yet full of "Japanese" sweets. The staff were Japanese and friendly ones. Parking here isn't good - full of dumb Asian drivers, very tight spacing between cars and limited amount of parking spots. So be careful. Payments: Drinks are cash only. You can use credit cards for everything else. Mochi Flavors: Tons - strawberry, darjeeling tea, taro, green tea etc. Something interesting, challenging, and unique ones. Very interesting. Mochi Price: Each small mochi costs $1.80 to $2 or so. It's kinda expensive, but the flavor quality is there. In the show case, you see lots of colorful mochi as you see on my pictures. But somehow they gave me the frozen ones, not from the show case. Why? I don't understand the business practice. They told me "it was frozen, so you need to thaw them a little bit before you eat them". I was skeptical whether if mochi would stand for freezing or not. It turned out it was OK. I left them in the fridge for a while, and the mochi got softer. - Gluttony Expedition -The texture of mochi is very similar to the one you get for "mango mochi" at "Phoenix" (Taiwanese sweet shop located all over the Asian/Taiwanese communities), not so much of ordinary Japanese mochi I could think of (thicker in texture for "daifuku" -mochi stuffed sweet paste inside). It's a lighter and stringier than usual mochi texture. There're various mochi textures exist in Japan, but this was a lot lighter than usual. The sweetness of "an" (sweet paste in Japanese) was very light. The flavors were very interesting and strong. Very interesting as a whole.Blueberry yogurt mochi: Lots of blueberry flavor with light "an" (Japanese sweet paste, not red bean paste since it was sorta white). Not bad.Darjeeling mochi: Sea salt cream like stuff had a Darjeeling flavor. It also had a light "an" (Japanese sweet paste). Very interesting textured stuffing. Good!Caramel pudding mochi - Custard cream with a hint of pudding sauce (barely taste it) inside of the soft mochi (rice cake). Not bad!- Conqueror's Deduction - Very light mochi with full of flavors. It's a bit expensive, but this is interesting. They have so many flavor varieties, so it would be great to get so many different flavors and share with your friends. Very interesting.

Had to try the green tea that everyone was drinking in the food court at Mitsuwa. This is at the place that sells manju and mochi, and all those really expensive, perfectly shaped desserts. It's $1.63 a cup and it is sweetened. I was little hesitant about that because I normally don't sweeten any iced tea, but it wasn't too bad. The tea was refreshing and I just added a little bit of water to it to dilute the sweetness. They can't adjust the level of sugar in it since it just comes from a dispenser.I can't remember if it was cash only or not, but everyone in front of me paid cash. They do sell expensive desserts for gifts, so you would think they would take credit cards, which is different from the other stores that only sell food.

One of my favorite places to go for gifts. This confectionary has very fancy and classy sweets made with a touch of Japanese and French influences. The packaging is lovely. Each sweet is individually wrapped and in a cute tin box. When you purchase a box of goodies, they sales woman would wrap it up nicely, Japanese style. I LOVE how Japanese people wrap a box. Very clean, and perfect! They have this really yummy green matcha iced tea that is lightly sweetened. So refreshing, especially after a bowl of ramen! You want to spoil someone? Get them a little gift from Kobe Fugetsudo. He or she will love you forever!

OK, so the only thing I can review about this place is their iced green tea. We were at the food court of Mitsuwa and I saw all these people drinking green tea (which looked like the one you get at Fukada) in plastic cups. We had gone to Fukada on Labor Day hoping to grab some lunch, but alas, it was not to be. They were closed. So therefore, no green tea for me. After ordering our food and finding a seat, I walked over to Fugetsudo and ordered 2 iced green teas. They were only $1.50 each so I was really happy about that. As I walked, I took a sip. OMG, there was sugar in it. OK, given there wasn't a whole lot, but it still was sweet. I like the bitter aftertaste of green tea so I didn't really take to it. Hubby ended up drinking both cups.I think they should at least label it sweetened or, give you the option of adding your own. 1-star off for that.
