This place is a really nice local spot. Very authentic Indian food. Would recommend the butter chicken. Lots of chicken in there so will definitely fill you up! Service is great too, the staff is very nice and helpful there. Great place to eat in or do takeout from.

Located in a shopping center and lead to easy parking, I found myself looking for some Indian food so hit this place up. The food didn't take too long to arrive. The Dal soup was very tasty and piping hot (temp) but was delicious and perfect size as I shared with my kid. The chicken tikka masala was pretty good as was the butter chicken. Sometimes I think the chicken is dry but with all the sauce it hides it pretty well so not too bothered by it. They were tasty none the less. I like the white rice but also got the vegetable biryani and it comes with a side of Raita which was excellent. The curries go well on all rice imho. The Aloo Gobi for veggies was a great addition and tasted great. There wasn't anything I didn't like and would order it all again. It's family style so we all shared. I noticed everyone that came in was known so it has a small community vibe. My only complaint is that they don't really come to fill up our water much or at all for that matter and they took forever to bring the bill but they were super busy so I get it. Nice place to try if you're near.

So good we could cry. We moved back to socal (San Diego) from the Bay Area in 2019 and have struggled to find a truly great Indian restaurant. After well over 5 years, we've found it. Himalayan Taste is hands down the best Desi food we've had since leaving the Bay Area. Honestly, when my wife suggested the place, my hopes were pretty low. Between previous disappointments in SoCal and the strip mall vibe in a homogenous neighborhood, there was very little confidence in the 4.x+ rating. Man, what a pleasant shock. The flavors were outstanding, the selection was extensive and the service was attentive and warm. Tucked away near a Vons, this unassuming spot packs a punch. You walk in and are immediately greeted by the host doubling as the bar tender. We were seated quickly (granted it was 4:30). We ordered a wide selection of food including the Dal Soup, Chili Naan, Saag Paneer, Karahi Chicken and the Chicken Vindaloo - each dish was better than the other and better than any we've had south of San Jose. The only problem left is figuring out how often we're willing to make the 70 minute drive up. Thank you for giving us a place to crave.

I really don't like ordering food on any type of app because I'm usually disappointed but I didn't feel like going out tonight so I chose Uber Eats and ordered a bunch of yummy food from this place. The shrimp was a huge disappointment. It was chalky and mealy like it was frozen and defrosted and thrown in the tandoori oven in for a minute. Definitely a fail. My stomach is killing me. I'm never eating Indian shrimp again. And I didn't! I did call them and spoke with the manager and he was offering me a free naan bread and 2 tandoori entrees so that was very conciliatory. I will go back and get two tandoori chicken dishes and no shrimp. he said they are very specific about where they buy their seafood so maybe it was just a bad night for them. Back to four stars.

I've only done uber pick up but this place is so good. I don't think it's Americanized in the flavors which is so rare to find out here. Love the tikka chicken and butter chicken. The okra curry also is good. Get the garlic naan and each curry does come with rice. Mango lassi is a little thick but taste delicious. The service is always nice. Place is clean and smells delicious when you enter. Parking is free it's where the Daiso plaza is.

D24 - Valentine's Day LunchRestaurant front - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ZtNLhsoqlxVYFEWolIrSCg&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQThe food was delicious but there were a couple of things that set off the "FoS" alarm... (Full o' Sh*t) 'But more on that later. It was a chilly SoCal afternoon, AR & I decided on Indian for lunch. Pho was a close second choice; next time.I arrived before AR, so I ordered us the mixed appetizer plate, chili naan, and two hot masala teas.First FoS incident:Me: I see you have garlic naan and chili naan. It is possible to get the garlic naan with added chili?Worker: We have garlic & chili naan.Me: So, may I have the garlic naan with added chili?Worker: No, it's either garlic naan or chili naan.(Insert sound of deflating balloon here.)So, what you're saying is that it is too difficult to add chili flakes to the garlic naan as you're making it? In other words, you are simply choosing to be difficult. I wasn't going to make a big deal of it but I was definitely going to note it in my review. After all, how hard is it to sprinkle a some chili flakes on a naan that you're already making? (Shrugs) First impression; customer service bites galub balls. - LOLA good word of advice, "Do not piss off your waiter or waitress until AFTER you get your food." The gentleman/host acted as if being asked for something was a bother. Again, the food was delicious but the lack luster customer service was quit prominent and notable. Who charges for raita? (Yogurt sauce) If a restaurant is going to charge for a basic condiment like raita, they may as well charge for the mint and tamarind chutneys as well. What's the deal? That's like an Asian restaurant charging for white rice... I'm somewhat surprised that Himalayan Taste didn't charge extra for the basmati rice. (I hope this doesn't give them any ideas. HA!) A small dollop of raita costs $4? Ridiculous. Raita - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Yxn7wCnrlmeV5AnGGjJK8g&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQAgain, the food was very good; the service was somewhat lacking which seems to be the norm when referencing other yelp* write ups.It always comes down to customer service and from my first visit, the service here leaves something to be desired. I will not be returning. Sure, the food is delicious but Himalayan Taste needs to remember that they're not the only good Indian restaurant around. As the ol' saying goes, "Don't believe your own hype." (i.e. - Don't get too full of yourself.)- Pau (Done)Overall rating: 3 StarsFood: 4Ambiance: 3Service: 2+Value: 3

First time here and it won't be my last. We ordered the lamb biryani, naan, chicken karahi, tadka daal and samosas. Lamb biryani - slight spice, tons of lamb, golden raisins, cashews, cilantro and rice of course. This one was deliciously complex. Chicken karahi - lovely combo of onions and spicesSamosas - loaded with spice and crispy fried. So good!Tadka daal was the least impressive but still quite good. The restaurant was spacious, clean and busy and the servers were so courteous and polite. We ordered pickup and food was packaged so carefully and plastic wrapped to prevent any spillage. I'll be back to try their tandoori and skewers! Lovely!

Amazing just amazing! We order tomato soup - immediately took me back to India :) The mutter paneer, bindi masala, dal tadka all had amazing flavor. The garlic naan was super fresh and so good. Oh yeah & the momos! Our new fav place to eat :) The service was impeccable - and if you read my other reviews you know we are picky!

I've never had Indian food and was a little worried it would be real spicy. I asked our server if our entrees could be prepared mild and he said no problem. The food was absolutely delicious and so flavorful! The service was great and our server checked on us frequently to make sure our food was to our liking and beverages were filled. Great experience, highly recommend, will definitely return!!
