Personally, a really good omakase spot in Irvine that's not too expensive and provides a good amount of food. For the $100 omakase, it's 15 courses and it definitely leaves you full. I believe all the dishes were pretty good, but don't expect coming here with a traditional japanese omakase because this place is korean owned. However, for a fusion, it definitely delivers. The flow of the courses at the beginning were a little rushed, but it toned down towards the end of the course. All the staff were super nice! We even ordered and hamachi kama and the portion size was great! The dish was also baked nicely and the fish was super juicy. Lastly, the interior of this place was beautiful. It was also super clean. We will be back!

I visited Gurume Sushi with my colleagues today, and it was a truly unpleasant experience. We had to sit at the sushi bar due to a lack of available tables, and no server attended to us initially. When Johnny finally arrived after five minutes, he was extremely rude. Given the layout of the sushi bar, we couldn't hear him well while talking with my colleagues. When we didn't respond promptly after two questions, he slammed the soup bowl on the table, startling us. He then exclaimed, "I was keep yelling!!!" when I told him he didn't need to slam the bowl. Why we pay for YELLING??? He also spoke in his language we couldn't understand, which sounded like swearing. We needed additional items like soy sauce, but Johnny never returned to our table. I've never encountered such poor service before. I can't understand how this restaurant manages its staff. Although I didn't want to leave any tip, I left a small amount for the sushi chefs, which annoyed me. My colleagues also felt upset and said they might get indigestion from the bad experience. I feel terrible for suggesting this place. I hope the manager becomes aware of these issues. (I tried to call and leave a review, but Johnny said the manager wouldn't be available until 7-8 PM.)

Likes:+ Various exotic sushi options.+ Aesthetic interior decor.+ Ample parking.+ Clean restrooms. The Gurage (Jellyfish) Sunomono by itself is tasteless, but it's very crunchy and is complemented by the accompanying cucumber & seaweed dressed in amazu (vinegar sauce). The rolls are also scrumptious.Non-likes:- Very expensive. Couldn't have my fill here. Had to grab more food elsewhere.I wouldn't return here often, as that would break the bank. Nice to try once for the experience though.

12.29.2o24We were able to make a same day reservation. Our friends booked for 6:30pm so we asked for the same. For whatever reason, the lady on the phone asked if we can go in at 6pm instead and I explained to her that we're actually meeting friends there and they just reserved a table a few minutes before and so she gave us a 6:30pm table anyway. We got the omakase for the adults and a salmon roll and truffle fries for our kid. The truffle fries looked really good but it was not fresh tasting. The 15 course omakase was definitely worth it though some of the courses were a miss. One of them had way much olive oil and one was very sour that you couldn't taste the fish. However, I would go back again because it was a good deal imo.Service was good.

Review is for the $100 omakase. Not bad but nothing really stood out. Considering the price for a full experience omakase, I can't complain and it does fill you up. I wish they had more sushi/sashimi options so I will probably opt for the sushi/sashimi omakase instead. Lots of crudo dishes with lime flavor. The oyster that was filled with uni/ikura looked delicious but it came out room temperature. Wished it came out fresh and cold. Service was good, they switched us to a booth when we told them we were going to opt for the omakase. Interior is very nice and modern. Would probably come back but pass on the $100 omakase.

Great birthday dinner at gurume_irvine ! They have really nice omakase set menu only $100 per person. The omakase set was literally work of art . Each dish be plated like fine arts, I really be impressed by chef's skill. The Omakase set definitely could leave you full with 15 courses. My favorites were their sashimi , which were thick cut, fresh, and full of quality. Next dish was Santen Nori , which was 3 courses appetizer , the dish was an interesting combination of flavors with freshness of oyster , creamy uni , caviar , and refreshing my tough with seaweed salad and taro pudding . Also, the A5 wagyu really a hit like a butter melted in my mouth. There were too many dishes, and each of them had very unique flavors. But I noticed that all dishes were a little bit too sweet, maybe because Gurume sushi is a Korean owned so chef adjusted the flavor to matching Korean.

This re-review is long overdue, and this time I'm giving my rating based on the omakase rather than the regular lunch menu. I think my verdict is still 3.5 stars, perhaps rounded up. Because they had the promotion of the Gurume omakase for $100, hubs and I decided to come here to celebrate our anniversary. We were quite excited to try the omakase menu, which looked exquisite. I liked the variety and the presentation of the individual dishes. And I think the Gurume Omakase was definitely taking my favorite sashimi to the next level - how the presentation actually enhances the freshness and the melt-in-your-mouthness of the seafood. My favorite might have been the toro with uni, ikura, and caviar, and hubs' was the wagyu beef sushi. Our biggest issue with the dinner, however, was that it was unclear we were getting all the items as stated on the menu. We were told about the dessert change -- that they were doing a "yuzu sorbet" special so that would replace our choice of (mochi) icecream. However, we kept wondering if we were missing one of the 5 pieces of the "premium sashimi". There were a couple dishes that could've been the "miso ceviche" or the "daily special", but we felt like we might have been missing a piece of the sashimi based on the menu since we were looking forward to documenting our evening with detailed pictures. Granted, we still enjoyed our food and had a really nice anniversary dinner (hence the four stars), but it did leave somewhat of a question mark in our mind. It could've been the perfect night otherwise.

Went with a group of friends at opening on a Saturday and there was no wait. However the parking in this plaza can get quite busy. I got the heodeopbap which was good and very filling. The Hokkaido gurume roll was also super zesty and tasty. Photos of the omakase is included too and there was a very unique flavor profile to most of the dishes in the omakase.

We've been enjoying our Gurume visits for years now and are so impressed by the consistency when it comes to fresh ingredients and service! Recently, Gurume rolled out a revamped, new Gurume Omakase multi-course (15!) tasting menu, so of course we had to give it a try. Everything was super fresh and tasty, and we liked this Gurume Omakase even more than the prior version! This version includes:House Salad (but in a fancy rolled up way, almost like eating a spring roll salad)Clam Suimono: still so flavorful, comforting, and deliciousSanten Mori trio of appetizers: absolutely love the uni, oyster, caviar combo - so decadent Bluefin Tuna Tartare: super tasty3 Pieces of Premium Sashimi: an edible work of artAnkimo (Monkfish Liver): I usually don't like liver, but Gurume's version is yummy and didn't have any of the flavors I normally dislike in liverA5 Wagyu with truffle: What a showstopper! I could eat so many of these.Carpaccio (Shima-aji or Kanpachi): we were given the Shima-aji and it was excellent.Salmon Curado: great flavor and preparationMushi Awabi: yummy Steamed Abalone served in a beautiful shellTiradito: Hirame or MadaiScallop Miso Zuke3 Pieces of Premium Nigiri: chef's choice and always such a hitMixed Tempura: Shrimp and VeggieChoice of Dessert: Ice Cream (Yuzu Sorbet, Matcha, or Black Sesame) or Mochi Ice Cream (Matcha, Mango, or Strawberry)Such a lovely way to celebrate a friend's milestone birthday! Definitely recommend this amazing feast for a special ocassion. Gurume's casual but nice ambiance is versatile - not too casual for a celebration, but also not too stuffy or fancy.

While it's not the best omakase I've ever had, it's really good especially for the price of $100 per person! This includes a course with uni and caviar, A5 wagyu, monkfish liver, and abalone! Most courses were pretty good and the fish is fresh, but there were a couple that I didn't think worked as well. There was also a piece of otoro that was a bit chewy, kind of disappointing for such a fatty piece. My favorite course was the A5 Wagyu with truffle. The sushi chef also added a blue crab hand roll at the end which was really good. Service was mostly just okay. The restaurant was pretty busy and the food came out promptly but we had to flag them down to get wasabi/ginger and water refills. The parking lot was super busy when we came, so be prepared to circle around for a while.
