Therr was a short wait to get seated on a Monday night. Pretty busy/lively inside. Servers could be more attentive but it is understandable given that there was a constant flow of customers.- #2 signature grandmas noodles: 9.8/10 !!! if you go here, you MUST GET THIS DISH. $10.99 for the best bowl of hu tieu i have ever had !!! Tastes even better after adding their chili oil and pickled garlic. They have a numerous amount of condiments/toppings to choose from at each table.- #3 crispy waterfall chicken: 7.9/10. Still very good. Juicy and crispy chicken with a sweet and savory soy sauce. The orange rice was okay though, lacked flavor. ($9.99 ?!?!)- #1 grandpas signature noodles: 7/10. Good but not as good as the other items I tried. Personally, pho should always be with soup, not dry. Not my favorite dish, but not bad. ($9.99 ?!?!?)

On a cold winter night, I cracked open my weary eyes and beheld a vision - no, a mirage - of warmth. Before me stood a restaurant bathed in golden light, beckoning my frigid soul forth like a siren luring a desperate sailor by. With my head held high and a mountain of ravenous hopes that could rival Mount Everest teetering on my shoulders - fortified only by a cursory glance at the mostly positive existing Yelp reviews - I stepped inside, prepared to have my life changed. The waiter greeted us with a small, knowing grin, fanning the flames of my foolish optimism. This, I dared to believe, could be the one--the restaurant to end all restaurants. But then, we made The Mistake. We asked for recommendations from this young lad, hoping against all odds that he would impart some wisdom. Without hesitation, the waiter confidently bestowed upon us the restaurant's holy trinity of dishes (what seemed to be the most popular), his assurance unwavering as he pranced away to relay our order to the kitchen. Ten minutes later, the moment of reckoning arrived. As the plates were placed before us, my heart was pierced as if by a red-hot burning fireplace poker. Before me lay not the feast of my dreams, but a pitiful, desolate heap of orange rice and fried chicken, flanked by a sad drizzle of soy sauce and a few lonely cucumber slices. A pained sigh escaped my lips as the grim reality set in - my stomach would know no joy tonight. With a deep, desperate breath, I braced myself for the first bite, praying for salvation. None came. The rice was an offense to the very concept of seasoning, and the fried chicken was so devastatingly bland it made plain white rice seem indulgent by comparison. The other dishes? Barely passable. The udon soup was a lifeless entity, only made bearable by a desperate splash of chili oil, and the garlic noodles? An over-salted letdown. But the final, fatal blow came in the form of the drink. What I had hoped would be a sweet reprieve was, in fact, a cruel joke - 90% ice, 8% liquid, and a measly, almost mocking 2% crystal boba. At this point, the weight of my disappointment became unbearable, dragging me into a suffocating silence as I stared blankly at my sad, soulless meal. And so, with a heavy heart and an even heavier sense of regret, I resign myself to my inevitable fate: I fear I shall not be returning to this establishment. This experience, this gut-wrenchingly horrid tragedy, will forever serve as a cautionary tale. I leave this review not as a warning, but as a lament - for what could have been, but never was.

they do not seat you in order - i was the first 3 person party and they seated someone else with 3 before me and i can't help but think it's because i didn't write down my vietnamese name (the guys look young and didn't even take my order in vietnamese and i'm not trying to have my real name mispronounced in my own hometown). rude service after i eventually sat down too, just came up silently and waited for our orders without saying a word and then left without saying anything either. after we ordered, they made us switch tables so that they could seat someone else. don't know what the front of house system is since they're switching people around to fit parties instead of looking ahead at the sign up list and realizing what they'll need to do. we got offered free drinks since they overheard me talking about writing a yelp review about being skipped on the line but if they didn't happen to be walking right behind me when i said that? maybe wait until the hype dies down or something before you decide to go here. not worth it at the current time even though the menu is cheap--there's plenty of cheap vietnamese food in little saigon with fairer service.

Friday lunch. Service was quick and food was great. Clean dining area. We picked their signature noodle dishes which was great. Lots of others at the restaurant seemed to really be enjoying the crispy chicken rice dish. I'll definitely come back to try the rice dish.

We decided to give this place a try again after years of not eating here and I now remember why. My husband and I both got a tummy ache after eating here! Yelpers be warned. They've been running special for their dishes $9.99/$10.99 + and trust me when I say, you pay for what you get. The dishes come in small portions with the proteins tasting a bit weird and only being one type with the noodles. We ordered the special Grandma and Grandpa noodles to see what the difference was and instantly regretted both choices. The grandma noodles was too sweet which can get tiring after eating it awhile. As for the grandpa noodles, it was polar opposite, bland and lack of flavoring. I will say, they're broth was decent and only the saving grace of the dishes. My husband also ordered sides of their satay wonton (just pure vinegar and satay chili) and the regular wonton which both were okay. We've had better in other words. When we called to order to go, it took four times before the call went through. When the person answered, who ever took our call didn't understand our order and made it sound more complicated than it had to be, so that caused a little anxiety to have to explain multiple times to ensure the order was accurate. Upon arrival, 20 minutes after ordering, the order still wasn't ready and my husband had to wait an additional 10 minutes, so yelpers, pack your patience.Additional background info., we live in the neighborhood and have witnessed some unsanitary things with this business (in the back area), but figured they must have gotten it together since the health department has been out here a couple of times, but after getting a stomach ache tonight, for sure we will not be coming back here as that was the last straw for us to support this business, even if it is a small family own restaurant. Yelpers be warned, bring some Imodium if you're eating here.

Food: $9.99 menu was an awesome deal! They have really good dry noodles. I would recommend #2 on the menu and #6, definitely worth the price. The portion is big which is nice. Fried calamari was a big disappointment for $11.99! No sauce, no flavor, just bland and it clumps together. I would not recommend it, better off getting saté wontons. Service: good service, they're fast at taking the order. But, the food comes out slow and not consistent. Ambiance: very nice and clean restaurant. They have a lot of worker going around cleaning and the place is spacious.

We waited about 20 minutes to be seated on a Saturday afternoon. They are having a special for the month of February for customer appreciation where selected dishes are reduced. I had to try their chicken wings. It was okay, large but not much flavor. The highlight would definitely be the Signature Grandmas Noodle where it is dry with meat and veggies and they bring you the broth on the side. It was our favorite, so savory and the noodles were fantastic. Service was on the mediocre side but they are very busy for a small restaurant.

What a scam! Taking down my original 5-star review and giving this place a big fat zero if I could. The quality has gone downhill fast. The way they pack their to-go orders keeps getting stingier, like they think we won't notice. The noodles we used to love are now plain and tasteless, with portions shrinking every time we order. Do they really think they can scam us with their $9.99 promotions? I don't think so! I've called and complained twice, but nothing changed. Shame on you Granpa's Kitchen!!!!

We dropped by New Years Eve after a short walk @ DT Disney. Since it was a very very cold evening, I needed to have something hot and soupy. I got the #11, hu tieu mi nam vang nuoc (pardon my spelling). This was a good deal for $10. Although I accidentally got the mixed noodle which cost me another $1. It probably would have been fine with the default setting. We also got the garlic fries which was hot and toasty! Basically they are crinkle cut friends with just garlic powder seasoning. But it was still very tasty! My wife got the number 1 with grandpas special sauce. She actually didn't really enjoy this one because she isn't a fan of sweet sauce. But if you like sweet noodles then this is for you. If I were ever in the area, perhaps we'd come back again for the soup noodles. The total cost per person was about $16 with two entrees and one side to share.

Been wanting to try this place mostly because I love egg noodles and I actually prefer dry noodles. This restaurant in garden grove serves dishes that are $9.99 and everything on their menu is delicious. My friends practically ordered half the menu and I needed to try all of them cuz I knew I'd want to go back. They serve dry noodles and soup noodles and appetizers. Service was excellent and very fast! I was more impressed with their noodle dishes versus their appetizers. I also had the green thai tea and tasted the herbal tea and both were good and would definitely get again. I'm already craving this place and will ask them to add extra quail eggs in my noodles.
