Flamingos Mexican Restaurant & Bar

Trust me when I say Mexican cuisine isn't usually my first choice for a Sunday brunch spot--but after 500 mg of caffeine, this was the closest bar I could find. I came in with no expectations, but the ambiance immediately stood out with its tropical vibe and charming glass lamp covers.They serve complimentary chips, which were fresh and crispy--a great start. I ordered their house special soup with meatballs, which reminded me of luo sung tong but with meatballs--not bad at all! Their grilled chicken quesadilla was also impressive. How do I know it was fresh? I let it sit for 20 minutes, and the chicken was still tender and juicy.Looks like I just discovered a new local gem in Laguna Hills!

Flamingos is a staple and I am surprised it has taken me this long to write a review!Their Taco Tuesday deal is great, and the potato taco is always a delicious surprise. They're very generous with the chips and salsa and will refill it on a simple ask. You can't go wrong with the margaritas but the standard order amongst the party that I go with is either the frozen strawberry or the cadillac. The ambiance is a typical Mexican restaurant with fun decorations and booth/table seating. Service is top notch and the food always comes out hot and fresh.

Had reservations for party of 19 at 5pm but reduced to 10 at the last minute, no problem per the manager and we were promptly seated when our server Uriel stopped bye to introduce himself and took our drink orders. The restaurant became crowded almost immediately but that did not phase Uriel he returned with our drinks, we explained we need a few minutes for everyone to catch up with each other. Other servers kept the chips flowing along with the drinks. Uriel returned to take the food orders. Everyone was having a great time catching up whenthe orders arrived, the food and service did not disappoint ! The restaurant was really hopping now with great ambiance of family's enjoying their dinners, the sounds of laughter,conversations,servers waiters and waitresses hustling through the kitchen and back with every tables orders ! A great time had by all ! Hopping back on the Yelp bandwagon. It has been a while since I have left a review but Flamingo got me inspired to come out of hiding. My order was modest but top notch! The "cup" of chicken tortilla soup was perfect for a cool evening but the star of my culinary adventure was likely one of the absolute best potato tacos i have ever eaten. For such a simple sounding item, it can be messed up a million ways but, not here. Crunchy shell, fresh lettuce and perfectly fluffy, slightly lumpy potatoes. Perfection.

Good food. Great service always. Decent vibe. Definitely recommend This is the 2nd time I've been there this month. Very family oriented.

We have been coming to flamingos for over 20 years since we moved to Laguna hills. We've always enjoyed the local vibe, locally owned restaurant by a family that is well known for its Mexican restaurants in the area (Franco's, El Cortez, Casa France, etc...) So Mr. Franco sold the restaurant. It was time for him to retire and good for him. The best part is one of his waiters, who had been with him forever, bought the restaurant. It's so nice to see a great place like this passed down from an owner to one of the hard-working waiters and keep the legacy going! If you're somebody like me, who likes to support locally owned businesses, please go to flamingos. This is stick to your ribs Mexican food, high-powered margaritas and good times.Support your local.

My husband and I were in the mood for Mexican so we decided to go down the street for a quick bite. This time around I ordered the tostada with chile verde. I was a bit disappointed with my selection as it was kind of bland. The pork was good but there was very little meat served in the tostada. It was mostly plain shredded lettuce. My husband ordered the chili verde burrito and he enjoyed it. Service is always great here ! Based on what I ordered it was not worth the $16 but because my husband enjoyed his burrito my overall rating is a 31/2 for this visit. We will definitely return here again but I just won't order the tostada again.

This place is nostalgic. Our family used to be regulars here over 15 years ago. We haven't been in a long time and decided to check out their Taco Tuesday specials. This place gets really busy and the wait was between 20 mins to an hour around 6PM on Tuesdays. They do turn over tables pretty fast though.Exterior & Interior... nothing has changed, still the same Flamingos we used to eat at. I love their complimentary chips and salsa here. For starters, we did their sampler platter ($17) which included - taquitos, chicken tenders, chicken wings, jalapeno poppers, nachos, and quesadilla with sour cream and guac, this was a great deal. Their Taco Tuesday special is $2.99 tacos with a purchase of any drink. The tacos are limited to just their shredded beef or shredded chicken CRISPY tacos. Not sure what the limit is with each drink. Tacos were okay. I felt like we got more lettuce and cheese than chicken or beef. Food came out in a timely manner and the servers were very attentive to refill waters and clear tables. Service is great. I'd love to come back and just try something else on the menu.

I've been dining at Flamingos for the past 12 years, and my husband has been a loyal customer for 18 years. My in-laws? They're practically regulars, visiting almost every Friday night. Saying they love this restaurant is truly an understatement.This place has been a constant in our lives, and we've witnessed its transformation over the years from the previous owners to the current ones. I still have fond memories of the former owner, a kind gentleman who would sit near the waiting area, welcoming customers with a smile in between his little cat naps. He once shared with us the story of his family's love and dedication to this restaurant, a legacy that is now carried on beautifully by the new owners.Change is sometimes necessary for growth, and I can confidently say that the new owners have taken Flamingos to new heights. They've introduced fresh drinks and exciting flavors while preserving the warmth and care that made this place special. Despite the increased popularity and busyness, they consistently go above and beyond to cater to every guest.Flamingos is more than just a restaurant to us it's a tradition, a place filled with memories, and a spot where we feel like family. I'm confident that my family and I will continue to dine here for generations to come. If you're looking for exceptional food, excellent service, and a place with heart, Flamingos is it!

Great place for awesome Mexican food. Great service and fantastic margaritas. I will definitely be back
