El Indio Tortilleria

Small little neighborhood place. Tortillas are very good. Food came out fast. Meats were on the dry side and everything was under seasoned.

I ordered beef taquitos. So I thought. Upon picking up order and returning to work, I start eating and the first two-three were decent. Crunchy. The fourth one... I bit into and it was mushy. I was like, ewww. WTH. I looked inside. It was a little light so I thought maybe they mixed a chicken taquito with my order. I reluctantly took another bite. It resembled fat or something. I opened it up and it was mostly potato. I don't know if potato is an option but it was beef and potato. I paid almost $10 for potato taquitos.

Today, my friend introduced me to this "hole in the wall" eatery which easily blends in with the residential homes. The female cashier and female cook/server were very nice. They served complimentary beans with or without cheese, homemade tortilla chips, and salsa. I ordered an customized scrambled eggs sope with fresh garlic, onions, beans, with no cheese and sour cream. I ordered a side of nopales with red sauce and put it over my sope. It was very delicious! Their tortilla chips (not greasy or salty) and tortillas are homemade. I also enjoyed the Jamaica drink! There is one unisex bathroom which the staff and restaurant patrons use. There are 4 tables with chairs inside and one or two tables to eat outside. They sell their homemade tortila chips and tortillas. They make tamales to order and you have to call it in and give 1 to 2 days in advance to order. They do not make sweet tamales anymore. They take cards also besides cash for payment. There is a seperate box to put tips.

Yummy!! I had a Carne Asada Burrito, it was homemade and very tasty. Homemade tortillas make all the difference. They gave me chips and refried beans with my burrito. I loved it all.

Came in today hungry as fuck and i am not only satified but the taste of course but look at the prestentation !

I cannot rave about this place enough!! This is a gem in the heart of Santa Ana, as hard to believe as it is alot of Mexican restaurants are just not that great anymore but El Indio always has and always will be an amazing, authentic, and quality Mexican restaurant!!

I love the tortilla chips but hours are very misleading, they are always closed whenever I try to stop by (which is always pretty early). If they have a specified schedule, please display that.

First time stopping by this place. Highly recommend if you're looking for authentic comida Mexicana! I had the chorizo breakfast burrito- the beans and chorizo wrapped up in a homemade tortilla was amazing. They also throw in homemade chips!

Food is great however sometimes feels like it's not fresh. Could be yesterday's leftovers. Front customer service person is very rude. . They had lots of room for improvement. Also watch out for the prices They change prices without telling you. Their excuse is that they haven't had the time to change it on the menu .. menudo was $13.25 min plus. When they normally charge $11. Had we know this in advance. Restroom is really dirt. And can't stress enough about customer service.

I actually have never been to the restaurant yet, but I met the owner, Graciela, yesterday, and if she treats her customers the way she treated me at my restaurant...no wonder they are doing so well. She was so kind and full of love. I can't wait to go try their food and tell all my friends and family about them!
