El Fenix is a small Mexican market with its own meat counter and a deli. You can get authentic Mexican food like lengua, manzano, and chicharrone among other meats. Pozole is available daily but menudo only on weekends. Tacos are $2.50 each on Taco Tuesday, both crispy or street style tacos. For non-Spanish speaker like me, service can be challenging. So we communicated by me pointing to the item and they nodded. I pay for my food at the market checkout so there is no tipping required. There is no seats inside but a few tables and chairs outdoors.I already visited this place a couple of times now and I'm likely to come back for more.

Best breakfast burritos in town. I usually go with the chorizo and potato but the bacon is also very good. Generally medium to large size and very filling. Fresh pico and several types of salsas at the end are perfect complements. I've had some hit and misses at lunch with some very small portions but breakfast has been consistently good. It is more expensive than I would expect from a carniceria but the burros are usually big enough to satisfy all day!

Messy gross overpriced burrito. My husband went to order a breakfast burrito. The woman behind the counter was very unhelpful and rude. Never once smiled or said anything. Didn't even tell him how much just charged the card ($14) and asked if he wanted a receipt. She put salsa in the burrito and it was all soggy and wet. Also nasty bacon fat. It was honestly so gross. Makes me miss San Diego where you could get a reasonably priced burrito that wasn't nasty from someone with a smile. Won't be returning.

This is the most amazing and flavorful Mexican food I've had. Every bite is like a flavor bomb and there's so many layers or flavor to every bite. Everything feels like it is from scratch and they care about using great quality ingredients. After eating here, other places just taste bland. The service is always friendly and they remember you when you return. Love how the ambiance of the store and food all combine to give you a family run business feel so you know what you're getting is just great food.

Even though I moved form Rancho Santa Margarita, where this store is located, I still come here to buy meats, chicharrón, Colombian socas, queso, etc.Still one of our favorite Hispanic stores around. You can come and order some tacos, enchiladas, burritos by the Carniceria side and you can eat them outside, they have a nice and shaded seating area right outside the store. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Cashier is usually quick and kind with your food!

I just enjoy a bowl of excellent pozole, so chunky it's almost a stew! Full of spicy flavors and texture. The tamale de birria that I had was also beyond expectations. I highly recommend El Fenix!

I was at El Phoenix today and ordered a torta and the price that they had on their menu board is a totally different price than when they ring you up at the counter.Be aware they are very fraudulent. And when I brought it to the cashier's attention and he goes, oh we've been telling the manager to change it for a long time now.I just wanted to warn everybody about el Felix They are very dishonest and this has happened more than once.

Don't waste your time coming here. Portions are small for the price. They also don't tell u the price when u order or pay apparently. When I couldn't pay for the burrito due to lack of funds I was faced with rudeness from the manager/boss. At no point was I rude, I simply couldn't pay. I wasn't expecting such a small burrito to be anymore than $12. They should be more forward about that & not be rude when a customer cannot afford their food.

DO NOT COME HERE. Portions are tiny & the food is extremely overpriced. I ordered a burrito over the phone, and they never told me it would be $15 for the smallest burrito I've seen in my life. I was starving but I walked out without the food I ordered because there was nothing about it that could make a burrito so small worth $15. On top of that, the service was terrible. When I tried speaking with them when I arrived, they turned away from me and walked the opposite direction.

Hard to order on line. When we picked food up - it was not the correct order. Overpaid. Once home - chicken tacos were good, but tamales were dry and didn't come with any of the 'salsa on the side' as requested.Disappointed
