El Borrego Sagrado

I was hesitant. I lol admit I didn't want to eat here. But the Hubby wanted to try it. I was feeling under the weather and I just wanted some soup. It's as if they read my mind. Instead of bringing over chips and salsa they brought over a consome that had garbanzo beans. Now I have never had garbanzo beans in a soup. But Oh My Goodness it was so good! And I immediately started to feel better. If I'm the area this is going to be the spot.

Pedi unos tacos de barbacoa y un consome la carne de los tacos super seca y el consome pura agua sin garbanzos ni nada y segun es estilo hidalgo yo soy de Hidalgo y soy barbacollero y que te vendan eso y aun le comentas a la mecera que si te puede cambiar los tacos y su contestacion fue no!! Uno paga para que te den un buen sevicio y salsn con esto. Definitivamente no lo recomiendo es la segunda ves que me pasa eso ahi. Espero y pongan atencion a sus clientes

this place was so dirty all under the tables there was old food , dirty napkins , the table had old cilantro just stuck on the table and to top it off there was a roach running around under our table I even took a video and a picture

This is my go to place for barbacoa. Their consume is on point, spiced just right, hearty, good portion, and reasonably priced. Eating their barbacoa transports me to a small town in Mexico where I first fell in love with the flavor of barbacoa; the smell and taste of the juicy and meaty texture makes me drool. Parking is a pain so be careful when pulling into the alley behind the shop. Best to try and find parking on the street. Do not rate this place on its ambiance and service unless your definition of good ambiance is a hole-in-the-wall reminiscent of what you'll find in Mexico. And that's why I'm frequent this place.

Hmmmm...my husband loves it. I like their green salsa, their red salsa. We ordered to go. One plate, all meat, no bones, with rice beans and tortillas. Good. A cup of lamb broth consommé too. About $14. Enough for dinner for both of us with rice, beans, salsa and meat leftover for breakfast. It's lamb barbacoa. An acquired taste. My husband loves it because he grew up on eating borrego/lamb

Visited this place to watch the world cup soccer match between Mexico Vs Sweeden, had delicious breakfast (Chilaquiles Verdes with bean and rice).The place is small, I would say around 10 tables, but is excellent to watch sports, they have TVs everywhere and there is also a small parking lot in the back.The staff gives great service and is really friendly and attentive.

I been a customer for many years, unfortunately today was a different experience. I ordered consomé and barbacoa to go. When I got home I notice the consomé seemed thicker in consistency than the usual. I warmed it up and it tasted sweet like a tomato base soup rather than a broth, not even close to consomé de borrego. I'm very disappointed is just not the same. The meat is also tasteless. Service by staff continues to be great as usual.

The food was horrible to begin with the refried beans that they give you with the chips they tasted like burn tires. I order some de asada and it had a piece of foil in there plus it was so thick and greasy. I also has a al pastor taco and the meat was sooooo chewy I couldn't eat it. The service wasn't bad. The ambiance normal would never go back to this place .I would leave no stars but I can't

Had a horrible experience with their food. asked for a burrito and the meat was bad let the waitress know and asked to change it to something different. She apologized and took it to the kitchen. She came back and said she couldn't take it off the check or exchange the item because the owner wasn't there. Worst service ever when their meat was bad. Never coming back.

The ambiance is incredible. The business owners make you feel at home. The service is great, quick and efficient. The food taste amazing, exactly like Hidalgo.
