Dude these donuts are legit legit!!! If you get a glazed or twist ask if they'll heat it up for you! Heavenly. Keep it simple the glazed are amazing!!!Service is fast and really nice people!! Gotta live OG businesses from the first half of the 1900s. This is a sit outside type vibe and even when it's 40-50s at night in the winter it's a vibe.The winter holidays are a fantastic time to come but come early and stay until dinner and grab food close by. Shop along the Main Street, grab a coffee or hot chocolate or juice and grab a donut from here. Plenty of benches to relax and eat and people watch. Lovely town.

An adorable spot for donuts or the famous Newport Beach frozen bananas! I love getting it with the honey almond granola topping, the textures and flavors remind me of an acai bowl.It's located on a street in Balboa Island with plenty of cute shops and sights. I love going during the holidays, as many of the surrounding houses decorate with Christmas lights. Parking can be a little rough, it's hard to find on the main street, so you'll most likely have to park on the residential street parking a short walk away.

I've been going here for over 50 years and it is always the best! This is my happy place and even though I moved away from California years ago, whenever I come back, I make a trip to Dad's. I love their frozen bananas. My mom's favorite was the Balboa bar with "everything " sprinkles. They have hard scoop Haagen Dazs ice cream, donuts, and other delightful baked goods as well! This is a gem! Don't miss!Great, friendly service every single time!

My daughter and I love this place, I'm not a pan of cookies or donuts but I like an ice cream. Delicious frozen bananas! This place will not disappoint , if you looking for an authentic Balboa delicacy. Very fast service and room to sit outside and enjoy while people watching. Established 1960, Dad's Don't Shop is an absolute treasure! Nestled on the main business drag of balboa island, this spot is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect place to stop by after a long day of exploring.Their ice cream is simply fantastic! They have a wide variety of flavors, all creamy and delicious. I opted for the java chip, and it was rich and satisfying. But the real star of the show has to be their chocolate-covered bananas. They're perfectly made--just the right balance of chocolate to banana, and they're so refreshing, with fun toppings.

Was walking around Balboa Island on Christmas Eve, I saw a bunch of people holding chocolate bananas and felt I had to get one. The first frozen banana shop we walked pass was unfortunately not open(totally understandable during the holidays), so we ended up at this shop. I got the everything mix banana, super delicious. They had a lot of customers but each transaction was very fast. Definitely get the classic mom and pop donut shop vibes here but more beachy. I contemplated giving 4 stars at first but I do really like the variety of sweets they had here.

Any time my kid wants a piece of fruit as dessert, I'm game! Fun experience. A lot of pointing and watching each banana get dipped and coated in your choices. Generous coverage. I didn't know one had control over the size of your banana. Obviously picked the BIG one. Tasty too. Nice people.

We came here for soda and left with a couple of cute cookies. They were fresh, soft and not overly sweet. Although they sell the soda by the can, they also have Coke from the fountain which my husband prefers. He also said they have the "good ice".We came back twice during our visit to Balboa Island. The woman that helped me was always so nice and cheerful.

Who would have thought that this was the PERFECT spot to pick up a frozen decadent cheesecake on a warm July afternoon.Quick to help and answer all questions, an infinite variety of all dessert combinations imaginable.Casual atmosphere with quality service in Balboa Island :)

- Balboa bar! -This place was the only ice cream shop that's open before 11 am on a weekday, so I had to try the Balboa bar here. It's simply a vanilla ice cream bar dipped in chocolate with toppings on top. I chose the everything topping since I just want to try the classic here. The ice cream was delicious, but almost everyone else got the frozen banana instead. The banana is healthier, but I can make that at home... I don't have vanilla ice cream bars at home so I just chose the tastier thing lol. There are two benches outside for you to enjoy whatever you purchased here.
