This was my first time eating at Claim Jumpers as I was in town visiting family. We were pleasantly happy when we arrived as there was no wait for a table (Saturday afternoon). The host was very friendly and took the time to ask how my day was going as she seated our group of 4. These days you don't get that much, so I truly appreciate those who go above and beyond. The menu had a variety of foods to choose from and everyone in my party of 4 was satisfied for the most part. Portions are sufficient and the service was adequate. Our steaks were a bit chewy but overall, we had a good experience. We also enjoyed the music during the visit.

If I could give them a zero, I would! The waiter was heavily upselling on cocktails and food. At first, he was upbeat and very accommodating, but once we ordered our food and water, he disappeared into the back. The bread was stale! It was clear that it had been passed around throughout dinner and simply tossed back into a bin for the next rush.My daughter's Caesar Chicken Salad was served quickly, but it didn't arrive with the rest of the main entrees. She started to eat it but immediately stopped because the chicken was frozen and microwaved, and the dressing tasted fishy. My steak did not resemble the picture on the menu--it was very dry and lacked sauce. My mother's fettuccine had literally no sauce, so she had to request some, and the pasta was overcooked and ended up in the trash. The lobster was tiny and tough. Overall, the food was overpriced for the horrible quality, and the service was equally bad. The rest of the entrees arrived 50 minutes later--and they were cold!

I've been going to Claim Jumpers for about 25 years. They always had good consistent food & service. We've been to this one a few times. We just went yesterday. We parked about 12:45. We were promptly seated & the server took our order giving us plenty of time to make a decision. We didn't get our food until almost 1:45 or so, nearly an hour after arriving. They weren't that busy & the dining room was sparsely populated. The server said there were problems with the kitchen, with the order being put in, with the computer, with who knows what. To compensate us, they gave us a slice of their famous chocolate cake. The menu still has it as a 7 layer cake, but it looked small. I counted 3 layers. Would have much preferred part of our meal comped than 1/2 a slice of chocolate cake. Then the server couldn't stop commenting that we'd finished most of our food. Gee "we did great" on our dishes. All sorts of comments like that. Not mean spirited or anything, but I really don't like it when servers comment on how much we ate or not. Then she told us this whole story about other guests that nibble on the cake & leave the rest (there were 4 of us & we shared this 1/2 slice).I always used to get the BBQ Chicken salad. It was my absolute favorite & I got it all the time. It just didn't taste the same anymore. On the menu it appeared to be the same basic salad. They changed something in it & it was just enough to make the salad unappetizing. The front hosts weren't particularly friendly, a bit aloof if anything. Look, you work at a Claim Jumper don't get all high & mighty. Claim Jumper used to have Sunday Brunch. When I inquired, the host looked at me like they never heard of Sunday Brunch. 1-star for that rude dude-bro.Hard pass on going back to Claim Jumper anymore. This experience was crap & the food isn't that great anymore. Don't really see Claim Jumper staying around much longer. I guess another one bites the dust. Can't blame the economy for this.

I always love coming here because they have a decent happy hour menu. I was already full from eating beforehand but my friends wanted to get a drink and I got one drink but I also had to order the zucchini because it's one of my favorite items they have. I wish I ordered another one but I would definitely be too full. Can't wait to go back for more items. I ordered the Purple Haze and it looked real pretty cuz it was lavender color and it was tasty too. I really want to go back to get more happy hour items another day.

Kiddo and I were staaaaarving after running errands (*cough* shopping) at the South Coast Plaza and thought to come here as we were nearby. This is located right next to Forever 21 so it'd be closest to park in the lot in front, if there are any empty spaces left.It was a Thursday around 5:30p so we thought we'd be seated right away, but much to my surprise, this place was kind of packed. I know it's been a while since I've been here, but it was always kind of empty so I didn't expect to have to wait about 20-30 minutes for a table. The ambiance sure hasn't changed though. It took me back to the 80s/90s. Dark lighting and large heavy furnitures. Ahh, those days when I came as a kid with family as well as in big groups of barely adulting younglings carelessly eating huge meals with one dainty alcoholic drink...Anyhoo, right when our server came, we ordered ASAP. Got some drinks and Southwest egg rolls for appetizer ($12.50), and the bacon mac burger ($19.50) and widow maker burger ($19.50?). Kiddo substituted fries for onion rings (+$1.75). Sure, just a while back, I was feistily cursing anything that will raise my numbers that my doctor will give me the eye about, but I've now reached a stage where I just feel like f*** it, I'm going to eat whatever. The Southwest egg rolls came out piping hot and crispy. I was so happy that they don't use any cilantro with this appetizer, just green onions (I asked the server to confirm since I gag at any cilantro; if there were any, luckily, I didn't taste it). It came with 2 different dipping sauces - salsa ranch and sweet & spicy. Kiddo liked her bacon mac burger (bacon mac n cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles), and I liked my widow maker (bacon, onion rings, avocado, cheese, lettuce, tomato, red relish and pickles). My burger was stacked high that it was hard to eat though, lol. initially, they gave me the wrong burger so I had to wait all over again for them to make the correct burger, but was kindly comped for their mistake. With so many fusion and non-traditional restaurants popping up everywhere, Claim Jumper has become one of the few places around here that serves good old fashion American cuisine. I do love the multicultural fares, but from time to time, I want to sink my teeth into a big juicy burger with fries.

I hadn't been to claim jumper in years. We were shopping at south coast plaza the week of Christmas and decided to eat before shopping. We sat in the bar in a booth. There was a Football on, good environment and the staff was great. My son got a burger which he was very happy with. My daughter had fish and chips which were excellent. I had the Ahi salad and it was perfect. Just the right amount of food for something light but still substantial. I'm glad we gave claim Jumper a shot as it's been probably 15 years since we've been to one .

We came for drinks and an appetizer. The hostess said to sit anywhere, so we seated ourselves. But then no one came to take our order for the longest time. Like the three of us weren't there. And they weren't even crowded at that time of day. Just a missed handoff from the host to the wait staff. The wierd thing was, we seated ourselves in full view of the host station. They could see that no one was waiting on us. I like the interior well enough. And I've had dinner here (and at other locations). It's pretty consistent. It's a chain but relatively upscale and I've never had a bad experience at any Claim Jumper. We enjoyed our drinks (paloma and ranch water). And the appetizer was great, even though, as you can see, you have to make do with three wanton chips. I still like Claim Jumper. I just have to reflect our experience in the review. This visit was a three. But overall they're pretty good.
