Jaclyn S. "The chicken schnitzel was one of the best dishes we've ever had in our lives. The chicken was moist and well seasoned, the combination of textures with the pasta it's served with went SO well. The maitake flavor pairs so well, this could be a Michelin star dish. The brussel sprouts were also delicious. The duck wings were good but I wasn't as into them as the other dishes. Heather was our server and she was so great and knowledgeable on the menu. The restaurant was cozy and upscale with white linen table clothings. A 10/10 experience all around, we will def be returning."

My boyfriend says this is the best poke place he's had in his life! The food quality has always been consistent and the fish is always so fresh. I also appreciate that the sauces are on the less salty side so that it doesn't overpower the freshness and quality of the fish. Shout out to the guy working who recognized us from the first time we came here after the airport! :-) service is amazing! He gave amazing recs."

Shantelle S. "February 15, 2025 | Hacienda Heights: Over the Weekend, 5 friends & I had dinner at Grab A Crab! Yum! Delicious seafood, definitely plentiful & in an upbeat atmosphere!Seafood Boil | Sharing is Caring: Exciting seeing the seafood being poured out of the bag & onto a silver platter on the table! Shrimp, lobster & oysters! Oh my! Hahaha! The plate also included crabs legs(Tasty!), mussels, potatoes, boiled eggs(Yum!), corn on the cob (Yum! Bring dental floss!)...and more! I also absolutely loved the sauce and seasoning of it all... Delicious!!Surprised: I did peel the shrimp out of the shell but when it came to the other seafood; cracking open the crab legs...grateful friends did this...I like it already out of the shell! Ha! Dining Style: Gloves & a bib?! Hahaha! What?! It was my first time experiencing this dining style! Hilarious & turned out fun...though I did use several pairs of gloves, grateful the glove box was right next to me! This style of eating can get a bit messy, which I wasn't used to! At one point, my freshly manicured natural nails poked through the gloves! Haha! Lots of laughs at dinner!Additional Orders: We also ordered separate dishes, as well as side dishes: Gumbo, pasta, sweet potato fries(Yum!) & bang bang shrimp with rice and broccoli! ( Yum, loved the sauce!)Drinks: We all ordered a variety of drinks! Introduced one of my friends to Mango Cart, she loved it! It's light & refreshing! Atmosphere: Popular/VERY busy! There was a 120 minute wait, though friends & I kept busy catching up! Family friendly & upbeat!Customer Service: Friendly & attentive, thanks again!Overall: If you're looking for a fun time, eating delicious seafood with an upbeat family atmosphere & friendly customer service, this is the place! We had a blast & looking forward to doing it again!"

The service was pretty good but you do have to wave down the server a few times to bring napkins and water when they are busy.I'd give them 5 stars but their noodles are meh... and the soup I had last time was lackluster as well. So I highly recommend seafood and stick to the seafood!"

John B. "What the hell is going on at this particular Sizzler? Who's running it? And why isn't that person, the CEO of the whole damned chain?First off, it is properly and fully staffed, so the place is neat and the (entirely traditionally American) salad bar is well maintained and full of fresh, clean vegetables. Second, the burger here was entirely properly cooked, with the right amount of salt. The garlic mashed potatoes were the only letdown -- they were clearly reconstituted from flakes a few hours ago.Now I grant you, there's nothing challenging or spectacular about the meal. And the lighting is a bit medical. But for this particular genre of food and service, this particular Sizzler is absolutely nailing it.Believe it or not, this is actually a date place, for a certain kind of quirky date -- for example, if you're both short on cash but want a night out anyway. My low maintenance girlfriend loved it. Sizzler, of all damned places! This review does NOT apply to the Sizzler chain in general."

Sherri C. "Normally, I'd give a four star but there's a new policy that we objected to, so read on.My friends and I eat here often and have always enjoyed the experience, food, service, and staff. Tonight we were surprised to find an extra 2.75% fee attached to our bill for using a credit card. We found this laughable because the cost of the food didn't decrease by this same amount. Math people will get this. On the flip side, the poor servers are the ones that are being hit the hardest by this fee. Customers by default want to discount the servers' tips. People understand this is a corporate decision, please don't penalize your servers. This change hits them harder than corporate. Come with a debit card or cash and pay your server with cash. FYI: I learned tonight; that the waiters pay the tax, not just on the tips they keep, but also on the tips they share with the busboys and kitchen staff. Wow! Thank goodness that in 2025 the wait staff won't have to pay tax on their tips!"

Finally made it out with my husband and toddler one Monday evening in October, and we were not disappointed! There was no wait, but the steady foot traffic showed we were in for a treat. Here's what we tried: * Chicken Karaage: Perfectly cooked with a crispy, flavorful batter. The hint of lemon zest in the batter was a great touch, so we didn't even need to add extra lemon. * Chashu Bao Buns: Delicious, fluffy bao buns with pork that was tender and flavorful. Everything in it was perfectly balanced. * Kurobuta Sausage Skewer: The sausage was juicy and flavorful. Can't go wrong with it. * Snake River Wagyu Beef Skewer: Cooked to perfection. The flavor was fantastic, and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender. * Seared Hamachi: Good, though we've had slightly better. The grilled asparagus was a nice addition, pairing well with the fish. For drinks, my husband tried a bartender's choice cocktail, which was deliciously refreshing. I went with the lychee spritz--light, refreshing, and not overly sweet.Overall, Oak and Coal was an awesome dining experience, and we can't wait to return and explore more of their full bar in the back (reservations only). They easily accommodated our group of 14. The food is good. For appetizers we got the firecracker shrimp, calamari, and spicy ahi tuna tacos. Those were all a hit, even with the kids. For mains our group got a bit of everything and everybody liked it. I can definitely recommend the New York steak and the lamb rack. The little sauces they come with were great. Mike W. "First visit, and we were with a group of 15. Wonderful ambiance, and very nice views of the bay, boats, and waterfront homes from inside, as well as the covered patio. They offer free valet parking (tips appreciated). We were there to take advantage of their Brunch menu.SERVICE: Larry waited on us, and the service was excellent, including all of the staff who assisted him. He was kind enough to provide separate checks for our group, and they didn't add a mandatory tip, as many restaurants do with larger parties. I suggest asking about this upfront, so there's no miscommunications.DRINKS: The brunch menu offers two options for bottomless mimosas: the Wycliff Sparkling Brut ($15), and the Le Chemin du Roi Brut ($30), along with orange, cranberry, and grapefruit juice mixers. The sparkling wines were tasty, as our party ordered both, and I was able to sample each. I, on the other hand, had a The Spicy Southern Bloody Mary ($16), which was loaded with bacon, olives, and a giant celery stalk. I also tried the Olé Fashioned with mezcal ($17). I thought that both cocktails were well made.FOOD: For a group of our size, all of the orders came out quick, hot, and the portions were plenty. My wife and I thought that the food was okay. Nothing was terrible, but nothing "wowed" us either. Could have used a little more seasoning all the way around. We tried the Bayside Continental ($24), which included a stack of three, very fluffy pancakes, two eggs, bacon, and breakfast potatoes. The Bayside Benedicts have an option of smoked ham ($26), crab $29), or sautéed spinach ($24). The crab was in need of a little more seasoning. Finally, I had the Meat Lovers Omelette ($25), with bacon, Italian sausage, onion, mushroom, gruyere cheese, and a side of breakfast potatoes. A little salt and pepper, and this was good to go. I heard that the Chicken Barley Soup ($13) was very good, and the Lobster Salad Sandwich ($34) served open face, was okay.Overall, a nice brunch experience, and great service. I would definitely come back and give Bayside another try, maybe for dinner next time."

Maxine T. "I'm a local from a neighboring city. Came here years ago and forgot why I never came again. Made the mistake and then remembered. This must be some tourist trap restaurant because I don't understand why anyone would come here with the various better options around. Food is overpriced, venue needs major renovation and staff needs to be replaced. I asked for items several times and it was brought to me in the most inefficient way, and in the wrong quantity asked for. Server attitude was off too. Really basic request gone wrong. I could go on about several additional things but not worth the time. I just want to do other customers a favor to save their money and time and go elsewhere. Not sure what's going on lately, but there's still businesses that think they don't need to provide good service. Or owners that don't provide oversight because it's just money they clearly don't need ? I encourage everyone to be more discerning and support the smaller businesses that take more pride in their work and show us they need the business. This is the only behavior that will change quality. *funny I just read the other reviews and it's either 1 star or 5. I'll tell you that if you're not used to exceptional service and ok with run down dives because you enjoy loud music and loud clientele, this mediocre place will probably suit you LOL different strokes for different folks."

On a busy night we were in and out in les than an hour. I would have liked to enjoy my nice evening out by way of a more lingering experience, but our waiter had no time for that. My friend ordered the pot pie which she enjoyed. The presentation was impressive with the oversized pastry billowing over the dish. I ordered the chicken picatta. It was okay but not anything special. The mixed vegetables were steamed, which I always find uninteresting and not flavorful. I would expect steamed vegetables at a lower class restaurant. On the flip side, if you're looking for a hip, vibing place to hang, then their bar looked like it would fill that need greatly. Parking is mostly Valet, which takes some patients too at their busy times."

Van D. "I have loved Bear Flag since my cousins first introduced me to them in Newport Beach. This location in Huntington Beach is on PCH with their outside patio facing the beach. Totally got them beach views, but you're paying the view tax on your food. Order at the counter and seat yourself outside. The inside seating and bar area seemed to be reserved for those ordering at the bar. My boyfriend and I shared a New England Clam Chowder ($9.25/16oz), Ahi Poke ($21.95/lb), and a Large Seafood Plate ($18.95) which comes with 1/2lb fish which we opted for the Wahoo and 2 sides which we opted for the black beans and sauteed vegetables. The sizes remain consistent since they measure out their portions, but pricing has significantly increased since my last visit to a Bear Flag. The clam chowder was nice and chunky with a lot of clam and potatoes. The ahi poke comes with tortilla chips. The chips for the day were a bit salty for me, but the poke was still as good as always. The large seafood plate was a good portion but I found the wahoo to be on the dry side for my liking. I think Bear Flag makes a good snack, but I'll pass on getting an entrée here again next time. Would only come back if I was already in the area and craving clam chowder or ahi poke."

Upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted by the host and a wall full of wine. The host takes you to the back where the salty air and smell of wine permeates the room. For those of you who like to be surrounded by the wading boats and laughter in the room, this is the place where you can forget your arguments and be truly present. Come and order a drink for the occasion. I got Endless Summer and truly, it was the last drink before the season changes again. As an appetizer, I got the octopus, a small dish where you'll still have room for more food. As the main entrees, I got the fish of the day and of course, the lamb. Last time we came it was for their signature omlets....Breakfast left us with that "Denny's" taste in our mouth. And it cost waaay too much. Still healthy portions but I think we are over being overstuffed restaurants. Get back to real food quality, especially with the new Inflated prices.I've been eating at this location in HB for about seven months.
