"The service is Great every time I'm shopping here, they have a great selection of food and treats I love their Beer and Wine selection the ambiance is Awesome Marmina B. Is always awesome I recommended this place to my friends"
"I recommend the ribs and brisket here are on point. So is the mac and cheese and coleslaw. My wife is addicted"
"I hate going to chain super markets for seafood and meat because it is never fresh or good quality. La bahía always has good quality and is reasonably priced. Will continue to do all my shopping here."
"I LOVE Mother's Market and Kitchen. Their food is delicious and they have vegetarian options! The breakfast special (and menu specials) changes every month. Sunrise breakfast specials are an amazing deal for less than $5. The chefs make the most delicious food! The restaurant staff is always friendly. (Thanks Carlos & team!) The fresh pressed juice is really good and the market has good selections of helthy food."
"The chorizo was really good and I believe for the amount I bought it was $8.50 it was really spicy though so when you cook, have the windows open otherwise, your house will get very Smokey"
"I was in the mood to cook my own Mex, but too lazy to drive to Santa Ana. The handy dandy Yelp app pointed me to La Bodega, on Beach & Slater in HB. Its in the same parking lot as one of my fave bars, previously reviewed Johnny's Saloon.I bought some carne asada ($7.99/lb), pollo asado ($2.79/lb) and shrimp ceviche ($6.99/lb). First of all, the carne asada was very good. It came in large pieces as it should, was marinated nicely, and cooked up great on the grill: 4 Stars. Secondarily, the chicken was tasty too. It too had a nice marinade, was super moist after grilling, and was a bargain: 4 Stars. Lastly, the ceviche was highly recommended, and flavorful also. It went very nicely on top of tortilla chips, and had a nice kick. It was so much better vs what you receive in an Americanized Mex restaurant: 4 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, its small, but packed w/ goodies. There is a table w/ samples as you walk in and a nice meat area to your left. Although the aisles are tight, its tidy in here. Additionally, there is a nice produce area w/ everything you need to compliment your taco feast. Lastly, they have taqueria size tortillas so you can pretend you operate your own taco stand: 4 Stars. Likewise, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They greeted me in Spanish, and appreciated that I spoke Spanish as well. Our conversations went from simple to more complex. The butchers and I appreciated a hawt customer (Disfrute la guerita: Enjoy the chick) - LOL!: 5 Stars.La Bodega is def on my list when I want some authentic Mexican meat to Q. Its close by, the staff is friendly, and the prices are real reasonable."
"This is a little store that sells meat and a few other groceries. We come here strictly to get our dogs ham. For some reason they will only eat the ham that is sold here.It is a small shop, but they are quite busy everyday.Butchers are nice and help with what you need."
"I came here to pickup meat to make carne asada for my sister in laws birthday party. We didn't need much, only about 5lbs of meat. For me this place is a lot. Being vegetarian, it's not somewhere I'd normally go lol But the birthday girl wanted meat, so there we went are lol Meat is always expensive, so prices seemed normal. But the quality of the meat is better here. My sister in law and the family loved the meat. So that's a win I guess right?"
"They made me the most delicious veggie vegan sandwich. Friendly staff and great food."
"I drive from Garden Grove here every couple weeks as the only place I will do my produce and garden shopping! P R O S - Small, family- owned business - Great for Persian or Indian spices, sauces, and mixes - Fruits & veggies are the cheapest of any store I've ever seen, ever (I'm not kidding) - I can get enough produce to feed 3 of us for several weeks (my cart is FULL) for around $20- You can buy a varying quantity of everything if you're a smaller family or just need a little of something- Very wide variety of produce, tons of herbs and some things I've never heard of before - Their garden section is great and similarly affordable for little flowers, herbs, and ceramic pots - Easy parking C O N S - Pick through! - Some (not all) of their produce does tend to expire a little earlier or be in more variable condition than the "fancy" Whole Foods or Sprouts (that's why it's cheaper). - There's a $0.60 card fee and $0.10 bag fee"
"Great little grocery store near our hotel with tons of healthy options. There were prepared foods and a little cafe area too. The produce section had lots of organic options. The staff helped me to find a site fix item and they knew right where to look. Great resource in the area."
"Carniceria Y Taqueria Tierra Bella is a hidden gem located in the back of a small Mexican grocery store. My coworkers and I came here for tacos and we were pleasantly surprised that the grocery store had 5 little tables in the back. This spot has plenty of things to order. Tacos, Burritos, Tortas, Sopes, Quesadillas and more. My coworkers and I all ordered Tacos.Prices per Taco: - $1.25: asada, al pastor, pollo, chorizo, chicharron, carnitas, birria- $1.55: guisado, cabeza, lengua- $2.25: tripa, ranchera I had 3 tacos: carnitas, al pastor and lengua. I liked the carnitas the most and I was most disappointed in the lengua. My coworkers tried a variety of tacos and I heard the asada and the pollo is pretty good too. Not the best tacos in the word, but for these prices, they are great. Ask for their special sauces. They keep the condiments in the fridge and there a yummy avocado sauce and a spicy sauce. We would definitely come back here for a quick and affordable meal!"

This place has a super cool owner running it, but also there is a secret popup that's no longer secret JW Hayes BBQ is open at 10:30 am until 4, however they sell out their BBQ way earlier than their hours now. It has to be the best bbq I have ever had next to heritage bbq.The Turkey was succulent, chicken Smokey, brisket tender and juicy, beef ribs fall off the bone Smokey, their brisket beans-to die for-no joke. Everything is fire.

UPDATE on RIA window to pay utilities with cash only! If you just got left behind by Edison, or as known as, SCE and you got a new account number and no one is on the other side to help you. Well, for $3.50 you can pay your Edison bill inside the deli/carniceria or what ever you want to call this little hole on the wall. The catch is, it is best you bring a copy of the bill as they will need to see the account number to pay them and the new account numbers start with 700's so heads up! ONLY CASH. Okay no problem go to the gas station and they have a atm machine. The RIA box or window with a lady inside is bilingual English and Spanish so do not be shy. On the money she will want $3.50 and the cash to pay your bill and it takes about three (3) business days to post. The RIA dot logo is outside and I used to use them in Santa Ana and now I am so glad I have one closer to my home. The window or the Ria box is located as you walk in to your right-hand side next to the cashier. The girls are super nice they explained to me that Edison just had a whole new system and it has been a rough transition. Well, I am just glad to see a person helping me like a human being and not this elevator long 1800 phone number phone call and just no real solutions. Okay back to the carniceria or at the deli BEST home-made chorizo in town! Best marinated carne-asada and fantastic fresh locally hand-made queso fresco. So ask the butcher for the fresh batch they have it in the fridge in the far end back.It is more of a convenience-store-stop so the produce is available but not the best prices. Just being honest but yes plenty of beer if you need some. Plenty of fresh fruit and they also offer Avas legumes among other common Latinox items. Now behind the counter is full of other oils and shampoos. Conclusion they offer a lot for the small location but it is tight and kept clean with no foul odors. Smells over all clean!Really busy intersection but located behind the gas station and next door to Johnny's saloon. Excellent meat deals! I can go on and on about this place! So yes! This is one of my favorite carnicerias in HB.

Chapman & Feldner (just S of Main St)Are you havin a Mexican BBQ or are you just cravin to make your own Mexican dinner?Well forget Northgate or El Super or other various Mexican joints or Carnicerias because I'm telling you this is THE spot. A friend introduced me to this spot years ago and I simply have not looked back. This is a small Mexican Market in comparison to like Northgate or El Super, but what this place lacks in sheer size they make up for in both flavor and service.Yep... you don't have to be brown skinned to receive great service here as they are wonderful to everybody.Their preseasoned and marinated Carne Asada is nothing short of amazing. Once you've had it all future retrievals will make you impatient. No joke... you must get your Carne Asada here. They have many types of salsas/hot sauces, various types and sizes of tortillas, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, drinks, marinades, and many other things one is looking for. Check out El Faro... I think you'll be very happy! There's plenty of parking in this strip mall location.

"The reason I give La Bodega five stars is because Omar has acknowledged his mistake and has written an apology letter. See attachment.Hello everyone Omar from la Bodega send me an apology letter by email for the community, and after talking to him I understood that Yes He made such a horrible mistake we might think that he was trying to take advantage of the situation but after I spoke to Omar I honestly think he had good intentions he was more than happy to write a letter to the community explaining the situation. This letter of apology should be accepted I believe his actions were justified, and understanding. This is the time to start learning how we can be a little more compassionateHe is probably just an imperfect human being who makes mistakes just like everyone else, and will hopefully turn this into a learning experience.Let's all show some compassion for others as you would for yourself. I as a member of this community accept this letter as a sincere apology and acknowledgement of an honest mistake. Let's use this moment to be kind."
"Best sandwiches in Orange County! I get the turkey on sourdough with chipotle mayo. Nice deli staff and great chip options."
"Okay this place is okay... The snacks are great - my favorite is the fruit flavored beef jerky ($20.00/lb). When you first enter the store, you're immediately greeted and offered a sample cup of tea. It helps if you already know what you want, otherwise you'll find yourself bombarded with samples. It's okay to say no/refuse the samples (politely). It'll sorta give you the upper hand in things. I knew exactly what I wanted (the beef jerky type above) and asked for it right away. Don't allow yourself to wander or linger - or you'll be sucked into their sales tactics. While all the attention may be considered in some places, great customer service - in this particular store (or any of their chain sister stores) - it's their high-pressure sales tactics. It's okay to be adamant about the WEIGHT of your purchase as well - since this store sells its products based on weight. At the same time, for some products, like beef jerky - be understanding that there's no way they can make something EXACTLY one pound - it'll either be more or less. The snacks themselves are great quality. The beef jerky may cost a bit more than store brought brands (@$20.00 a pound), but its juicy, tender and fairly addictive. Parking is shared with the rest of the Thuan Phat Supermarket complex, and you can enter from the supermarket side or street side. Unlike other Asian places, this store DOES accept credit card."
"This review is only for their masa to make tamales. Love this market, friendly staff and good prices!! The masa however was awful. I had left over ingredients for tamales I made for Xmas. The masa I normally buy is at Amapola in LA which is 10/10. I didn't wanna make the trek out there this time so I went over and purchased from them thinking it'd be fine. Masa had zero flavor. A complete waste of money $30 for 10lbs. Wish I could get that back but all I got was a lesson on sticking with your tride and true."
"I really like the concept of this Gelson's location. Though it's not a full service store, they sell one of my favorites, Caesar Salad with chicken. They have a large selection of ready made food, grocery staples, beer, wine, and much more.If you have an electric car you can charge your car while shopping. The prices are as expected for Gelson's."
"This place was really good ! I loved all samples that they let me tried. The staff are all welcoming and friendly. The place nice and clean. I highly recommend their jujube tea!"
"Great neighborhood deli with selected grocery products id you don't want to drive to Pavillions. Had the caprese sandwich. Yum. Super nice, chill people working there"
"Irvine Ranch Market is my go to spot for sandwiches. The grilled chicken breakfast panini is my favorite. The sandwiches are huge, my husband and I usually split a combo. I would recommend ordering ahead if you don't want to wait for them to make it. Pro tip: there are picnic tables upstairs if you'd like to eat there."
"Wow i remember when this spot used to be stater brothers. Shows you how long it's been since I've been here. Anyway, I'm glad Northgate came to the neighborhood. Today was my first day here while visiting my folks. Wow it's beautiful so glad we came in today.Lots and lots to see...and yummy food."
"Hilltop's new rival! Since they were bought by new owners, the selection is awesome. Lots of great beers, wine, champagne and liquor. I absolutely love the guys behind the counter. So friendly. I would feel bad for them - having to see me so much but then again I am giving them a decent amount of my paycheck each week. I win."
"Terrific tacos on awesome hand made tortillas.Fish and shrimp were awesome.Carnitas were terrific.Great salsas.Really cheap. These are the studs behind SOHO tacos.Eat outside on a picnic table.Shh don't tell anyone - los blancos estupidos like to pay twice as much for not as good tacos so long as the tacos are served in whitey-land.This is where Mexicans come to eat - but what the heck do they know about good Mexican food. They probably have never even eaten at Sol Cucina."
"Last night, I went to this place to pick up some carne asada. DM was right.... this place has the best tasting carne asada, hands down!I met Pedro and picked out some carne asada for me. He was very helpful when it came to cheese, too. I was asking about the mexican cheese and he took a small block, cut it and gave me a cubed sample to try!PROS:- great prices- friendly service- meats are VERY fresh and not brown.- accepts credit card- has some canned goods, produce, and other household items you might have forgotten to buy at the grocery store.- great tasting carne asada -- it was JUICY and VERY TENDER!CONS:- it's a bit hard to find, but thanks to my gps, I found it!LOCATION:Ross and 17th street. Parked in the paint store parking lot.Note: This isn't your typical "american-style" carne asada. They marinate it for you, only if you ask but don't include the oranges and onion slices -- if you plan on buying more than a pound, add your own oranges and onions for extra sweetness."
"This is my go-to location when buying meat for a party or camp trip. The meat and chicken are my favorite here. Both are seasoned beautifully and the meat is great quality. Every time we visit, the butcher welcomes us back and asks how we are doing. The experience is very personable. They love their customers. Prices are great too and you can get a lot at a great price. Make sure to stop by early because they can definitely run low on items later in the day. So next time you are barbecuing or just looking to make some really good tacos, stop by this carniceria. You will not be disappointed."
"Great tacos!!! They make their own tortillas by hand so they taste homemade. Fresh food made daily here. Muy bueno."
"This place has been around forever, they have the best carnitas you can get anywhere, they have a lot of variety, their meat shop is awesome with top quality meats . The service is hectic but fast and friendly, they do a good job in spite of it being so busy in here pretty much day and night. The ambiance is that of a busy carniceria . I love this place and have been coming here for well over 35 plus years ."
"I love this place. They have EVERYTHING! I live about 250 steps away and it's a EASY 2 min walk to pick up whatever I might need at the time. Or a late night snack. The weekend I moved in...the first night at my new place....I realized I didn't bring socks or a towel for the shower in the morning. Crap! Oh well....so later I walked down to check out this old family style corner mart/liquer store......walked in .....and in typical Asian corner mart fashion..there's stuff everywhere! Well I saw something out of the corner of my eye? A barrel full of SOCKS. Bah! Won't do me any good..as my feet are size 13 so I have to get the XXL...there even difficult to find in a dept store let alone a place like this. So I walked by.....picked up a bundle of socks......huh? XXL? Score!!! So then I walked to the counter and said, "you don't have any towels do you?" The guy behind the counter pointed over in the corner and sure enough....TOWELS! Yeah, Steves has EVERYTHING!"
"We recently rented a house on Balboa Island for a week, and became daily visitors of Irvine Ranch Market! With two small kiddos in tow, there's always something that you need, whether it's more milk, snacks, fruit, etc. This market is well stocked and the prices are great for being a small grocery store on the island. We even purchased locally caught shrimp to make shrimp scampi at home, and they were incredibly fresh and delicious. They also have great grab-and-go options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I loved their pre-made chicken salad. Their tiny homemade chocolate chip cookies in a cup at the register were amaze, we bought multiple cups full. They also have a great selection of local beers, wine, and liquor + all of the mixers that you could need. So grateful that this spot was right around the corner from our place. It made this mama's life a lot easier on vacay! My family always had full tummies and big smiles. I highly recommend this cute little market!"
"CARNE ASADA!!!I can't speak for anything else in this market except for the CARNE ASADA and also the lovely staff. If this is where you live or maybe even 10 miles away, it is worth the trip. I was in town for the week and we had rented a beach house which luckily for us had a bar b que. To be honest I had not had good carne asada for some time now, so I figured it would be perfect for dinner and left overs for breakfast burritos. Guess what? I was right! This place has the good stuff, and though on the higher end price wise, it seems to be the going rate for good quality asada. This is the SPOT, do not doubt me! Enjoy!"
"Great location! Super clean, extremely well stocked and very friendly/efficient people. This is one of the biggest sprouts with the largest choice of food . Nice choices of pre made meals ( although priced a tad high) convinient if you want to grab a quick healthy lunch . Store is maintained well and organized. Produce is very fresh.Prices a tad high, they always have awesome bogo deals! This supermarket Where you can find the freshest produce for your healthy lifestyle . Plenty of parking . Definitely coming back !"
"El Campeon Carniceria is a hidden gem located on a side street off Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa. If you're a taco enthusiast like me, this place will feel like an oasis. Just be aware that the parking lot is tiny and can fill up quickly, but I've never waited longer then a couple of minutes for a spot. When you first step inside, you might feel a little lost, but fear not! Head straight to the counter on the left-hand side to place your order. Pick up any remaining items you may need in the store and pay at the check out counter. They will make your order paid so you can pick up your food. The staff is friendly and helpful, so don't hesitate to ask for recommendations. Now, let's talk about the food. I cannot stress enough how amazing the tacos are here. Whether you go for the lingua, pastor, carne asada, or pollo, you're in for a treat. Each taco is bursting with flavor and made with high-quality ingredients. The meat is perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Trust me, you won't be able to stop at just one.El Campeon Carniceria is more than just a taco joint. It also functions as a thriving area market, offering various necessities, as well as a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. While I haven't explored their meat counter, I can only assume it's just as impressive as their tacos. The overall atmosphere of El Campeon Carniceria is welcoming and lively. It's a great spot to grab a quick bite or even sit down with friends and enjoy your meal. There are some small tables outside in the front. The prices are reasonable, considering the quality and portion sizes. If you're on the hunt for authentic, mouthwatering tacos in Costa Mesa, El Campeon Carniceria is the place to be. The combination of friendly service, delicious food, and the market-like environment make it a must-visit. Don't miss out on this taco haven--I guarantee you'll keep coming back for more!"
