Bushfire Kitchen - Mission Viejo

I had been receiving a great deal of posts from this restaurant and couldn't wait to try them. Been there a few times now.It's on the corner of a new food strip so it has great access. It's light and airy with brightly lit indoor seating and nice covered outdoor seating.The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially describing their happy hour specials.

Came here for happy hour (3-5pm).It was pretty empty. Deals on beer and wine are amazing, 50 percent off! Not a huge selection of wine but I had the Angeline Sauvignon blanc and the bushfire Chardonnay, both were not bad and on the drier side which I prefer.Drinks, for the price- 4/5For food we got the chicken quesadilla and the chicken strips and both were subpar.The breading on the chicken was so thick I actually just peeled it off. The quesadilla looked rough and my friend verified it tasted about how it looked. Food, for the price- 2/5Service- 3/5They forgot our drinks and brought our food out. Not crowded so not sure how that happened but we went up to inquire and they tried to charge us for drinks again. Good thing I kept the receipt but seems like the cashier eventually remembered us (from 5-10 min ago) and got our drinks promptly. It would have been nice to get an extra generous pour or something but they have fair pours as is.Bottom line- I'd return for the drinks during happy hour but I'd eat elsewhere.

The menu offers a variety of comfort foods, all made from scratch and uses quality ingredients. I went ahead and ordered a bunch of things because it all sounded good...THE FOOD. - Caesar Salad | Bacon bits and croutons. It was supposed to come with avocado, but that was nowhere to be found. Otherwise, it's a pretty good salad. - Grass-Fed Beef Empanada | It was okay; a little disappointed that the beef lacked flavor. - Cage-Free Chicken Empanada | Flavorful chicken and sun dried tomatoes. - Guava & Cream Cheese Empanada | Sweet guava and creamy cheese for contrast. I liked this a lot. - Gaucho Steak Sandwich | Great pesto flavors and the tri tip was pretty tender. - Bread | Did not receive and instead we got a second guava & cream cheese empanada. - Grandma's Mac & Cheese | Creamy cheese and baked panko crumbs on top. Nice, contrasting textures. - Roasted Korean Cauliflower | Savory with a kick of spice in it. Not a huge fan, but it was okay. THE RETURN?I liked enough dishes that I'd come back to try more.

Great service... And great location! The food was pretty good. Some bites had a lot of flavor, while others were somewhat bland. I couldn't really taste the aioli, although I'm sure it was there. The pesto was nice... but maybe just needed a bit more? Anyhow, I'll definitely give this place another try if I'm ever in the area - I really appreciate the obvious quality ingredients they use- and a focus on whole food ingredients!! Nearly impossible to find in "fast food"!

Honestly, I was pretty stoked to try this place after seeing the Yelp reviews. This rating will be strictly on the burgers and I can't speak to the plates or bowls. The burger itself didn't have much taste to it. They had all these different ingredients but it was more bland than anything. The service was decent. I noticed the sides for the plates were sitting in a hot plate so assuming those are pre made and they serve as people come. The ambiance of this spot is super nice. The dining area itself is cool. I eat places like this for the food though especially since it's a walk up and order line. Disappointed with the burger and fries from here. Not to mention for the two of us it was just over $50. For two burgers and two sides of fries. Cheers!

...Absolutely never again. I love the idea of "fresh and healthy food" (which is why we came here) but this was not it....... The food is comparable to cafeteria food- no flavor - no seasoning... just plain. The tri- tip bowl looked great until I took the first bite and it was room temperature....veggies were undercooked...cold and again no flavor! Rice was so overcooked and tri tip was chewy. I brought my bowl back to counter and told them my plate was not hot...the lady told me they would make a new one...Great ok... but as I sat down at my table and watched the "cooks" ... I saw them throw it back into a skillet for a quick reheat which ended up changing the texture of the meat, It was no longer pink and then obviously overcooked...they put their hands on it to feel it if was hot and we're all laughing about it. It was very disappointing to literally watch careless cooks/staff in action.Ambiance is like being in a chipotle but wine and tap beer is available. My kids enjoyed the Mac and cheese + fries + fried chicken tenders, so I guess that's the only thing I am happy about. BUT- That is as good as it gets ya'll. I saw a bunch of ppl eating burgers too, so I guess this is the place for Burgers/fries/chicken (fast food ish). I don't get the great reviews and hype ??? Super confused by the good reviews tbh

Bushfire is located close to the freeway in the Target shopping center. There's plenty of plaza parking with a few spots right up front, close to the entrance. There's indoor and outdoor seating and clean restrooms towards the side. The restaurant is counter ordering.I ordered the Thai Chicken Curry Bowl with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts, chicken and beef empanadas, and the macadamia royal cookie. The Thai Chicken bowl had sooo much flavor, I'd crave the empanadas especially with the chimichurri sauce and the cookie was like magic!Arelis had a great attitude, super patient, and made her recommendations. She followed up with us later which I think is exceptional. Appreciate the hospitality!

New restaurant in the same shopping center as Target off Alicia Pkwy. This place gives me Urban Plates vibes but the food is way way better! Same concept, get in line, order your food & pay, then find an open table, they bring the food to you. Came in on their first week & it was busy. Took us a while to find a table but it was worth it. Build your own bowl - thai curry, white rice, veggies (great flavors). Tuscan chicken sandwich (with pesto & sweet potato fries), Chimichurrio tritip plate with mac & cheese, brussels sprouts (delish!). They recommended to try the empanadas which was also good. Tons of healthy side dish options. All are made very well & flavorful. Beer, wine, cocktails. We really enjoyed our meal here.

Great food and great service. Loved the quick and easy online ordering process. Will be coming back for sure.
