I had a terrible experience at this Broken Yolk location. We arrived around 1:40PM mindful of the closing time (2:30), and while we weren't planning to stay too much longer, the atmosphere completely changed when the music turned off at 2:23--well before closing. It went completely silent, making us feel uncomfortable and rushed as we tried to finish our meal in awkward silence. When we spoke to the manager, Rene, about how this negatively affected our experience, he was incredibly rude and dismissive. Instead of listening to our concerns, he accused us of lying about the timing of the music, claiming it didn't turn off until 2:30. He showed zero empathy for the discomfort caused, and there was no apology or attempt to make things right. After paying $70 for a meal, I expected basic courtesy, but unfortunately, that was not the case. While the food was fine, the service was awful. I will never return to this location and strongly recommend going to a different Broken Yolk, as the management here clearly doesn't care about its customers.

I've never been so conflicted leaving a review. It was our first time trying this diner. The restaurant was half full. We walked in and no one acknowledged us. I waved down a guy pouring coffee and asked if we seat ourselves. He told us to wait for the hostess. She was on the phone. After a while, another waiter comes to seat us, very obviously in a hurry. Threw our menus down and said he'll get water. We ordered two lattes. They were about four gulps for $7.97. Half of it was just foam. We ordered two SLICES of bacon. The waiter thought we said two orders. This was forgivable as the bacon order comes in threes. We're used to the Snooze and Aloha Stacks, basically everywhere else.We were brought two orders of French toast. We ordered one. The strawberry sauce was made with expired strawberries. I could taste the fermentation...We were brought two orders an orange juice and he threw the straw down and it slid across the table. Yeah, they rush that hard. I would rather they take their time and not look so ridiculous and give customers proper service.Waffles were good. It was crispy not soggy.

First off, the service is HORRIBLE! Server takes our drink orders, drops them and disappears for 25 minutes. As we sit waiting for him to come back to take an our food order. When he finally returned he says, "I'm so sorry I thought I already took your order." No, you took our drink order. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and when I got them, I was like where are the blueberries?? They put a few on top and there were none in the pancakes. You can't call them blueberry pancakes, if they don't have blueberries. What a waste of money to pay extra for blueberries. Not to mention, the pancakes were waaaaaaaaaay undercooked. This place flat out SUCKS! Save your money and go somewhere else.

What a great breakfast spot. We sat at the bar and Carolina was our amazing server. We started with coffee and OJ.The restaurant was hopping and the ambiance pleasant and enjoyable. Carolina took our breakfast entree order and my wife had two eggs over medium, hashbrowns and sourdough toast and I ordered the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and sourdough toast. The service, food and staff are amazing. Highly recommended

This was my second visit to Broken Yolk Cafe, and, much like the first, it was... just okay. The cafe itself has a laid-back, friendly vibe, with plenty of seating and natural light - definitely a comfortable spot if you want to relax over coffee and linger for a while. Their menu is expansive, with options that cover just about any breakfast craving: pancakes, waffles, burritos, Benedicts, and more.I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, a classic choice. It came with two perfectly cooked over-easy eggs, but the steak itself was a bit on the oily side. Overall, the meal was fine, portions were reasonable. my order came with hash browns and an English muffin.Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=ghwgzbhC7QvSnlKa--NaCgAR ordered the Two Eggs Breakfast Special, and she seemed to enjoy it. Her order came with a side of fruit and a biscuit.Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=yWyVV4D_OcuPrtumE9u60QTwo Coffees - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=Dvl0OTeCTvwk6-BZLX95aAOur order:Two Eggs ($13)Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs ($18)Coffee ($4 x2 =$8)Total: $42 (+tip)The service was friendly and attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for our food since the cafe wasn't too busy. Our server checked in on us a few times, striking a good balance without being intrusive, which we appreciated. If you're in the area and in the mood for a relaxed breakfast or brunch, Broken Yolk is worth a stop. Prices are "so-so" - our breakfast for two came to just over $50, which feels a bit steep but seems to be the going rate these days. Portions are fair, and the inviting ambiance definitely enhances the experience. While there were some minor food quality issues, it's still a solid spot for a casual meal. Just a heads-up: if you're sensitive to salt or oil, some dishes might be a touch on the heavier side.- Big Aloha!Food: 3Ambiance: 3Service: 4Value: 3

Service is just ok. Food is decent. Iced tea tastes like bitter Lipton tea. The establishment is ultra-clean. I order their skillets mostly. Try their spiciest skillet. It'll almost burn your stomach, it's that good. Parking lot is smallish and can be hard to get in and out of. But I'll always go to this location. Pancakes can be a hit or miss!

I must admit I'm shocked by leaving this review. My wife and I have gone to the Irvine location a few times and every time we went, the food was tasteless, unseasoned and just plain bland. But today at this particular location, everything was spot on, from the hostess bright personality, food was delicious and even to the water tasting good. The wrap could've been seasoned a little more but overall this place deserves a 5 rating. I'm not trying to be biased but the Irvine location as nothing on this spot.

Final update: made it back to try again. We got seated and then greeted by our server. From this point on, things were just average at best. Still will not go back. First, for some one who doesn't do carbs or at least tried to not eat a lot of carbs- omelettes are a great way to go. They have a lot of versions and "Make you own" but just as before they're not omelettes. They're folded fried eggs with ingredients dropped in the crease. Large tacos with egg as a shell. Not good. I went with an average breakfast sandwich. $15.50 for two thin small slices of bacon. Bland eggs and barely toasted bread. Got fruit as the side- 3 slices of melons and a single strawberry. Most places will have a variety and enough to eat. We were served juice glasses for water again and waited for 5+ minutes to get a refill. Table next to us, again, were served large glasses. Doesn't make any sense. My wife said it very well- this is a greasy diner playing dress up as nice breakfast stop. It's not for me. I want good service and good food for these prices. Won't be back and I suggest you don't go back. Denny's serves just as good of food (if not better) and gives better service.

I don't understand why some people leave one-star reviews for things that are out of the restaurant's control. The food here is good, the service is good, and you know what to expect--this is Broken Yolk, not a fancy steakhouse.I ordered the strawberry Belgian waffle, and it was huge! The strawberry purée was delicious, and overall, the portion was just too big for me--but that's what they offer, big portions. The food was tasty, and my burger was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered eggs with a ground beef patty and hash browns, and I ended up eating his hash browns because they were really good!As for the kids' menu, we have a two-year-old daughter, and we got her scrambled eggs with fries and fruit. The portion was generous, and she loved it--she ate everything!Prices were reasonable, service was fast and friendly, and everything was great. Definitely five stars from me!
