So it's a Sunday so we were expecting a wait. Surprisingly, we were sat within 5 minutes. Place is always clean, staff is usually friendly and food is really good. Today was not a good day. After being seated, there was a very rude couple next to us playing music on their phone and speaking loudly. While placing our order, I thought the server would say something. After 10 minutes of aggravation, I requested to be seated elsewhere. Unfortunately, it continued downhill from there. No joke, I waited 40 minutes for my sandwich. I ordered a Rueben sandwich and it was missing the sauerkraut and the fries were cold. After bringing this to the team's attention and asked them not to take another 40 minutes, I was informed that several team members called in sick. I get it, it's flu season. But 40 minutes for a bad plate of food? Come on. Regrettably, I place this issue at the Manager's doormat. She should have had a plan to deal with this. Instead, I had to endure this issue by no fault of my own. Last words: I will come back but not on a Sunday. The staff is always friendly. My rating reflects today's meal.

It's been years since I've been to a diner. After Covid, a lot of the Red Robin, Denny's, IHOP, etc has closed down. I've been wanting to try Black Bear Diner for a while but it was always crowded when I'm in the area on the weekends. But we finally happened to find ourselves here before dinner time. In short, I just have to say I MUST attempt to visit to have the breakfast experience.We only ordered the kid's mac & cheese, HUGE county fried steak which is something I always get when I see it on the menu. We also got a pot roast.The mac & cheese wasn't anything special, but it was off the kids' menu and there were no complaints. The pot roast was super tender and flavorful throughout which is something that would take me a whole day or braising to do at home. The country fried steak was the larger 10oz one that sounded like a lot on paper (their menu was actually made like a newspaper) but I devoured it easily since my family helped with the mound of potato hash, 3 eggs and HUGE plate of biscuit and gravy.Service was great once we were seated, because we were there between lunch and dinner time, they seemed to be short staffed so we waited for a while to be seated. The waitress gave us free cornbread as compensation which was awesome.

Oh my GOSH the food was amazing!! The portions are huge, my breakfast is most definitely going to be my lunch today!! The milk shakes are bomb, my eggs and steak was perfect. Our server was mid- she didn't come check on our table very much and we waited forever to get out bill. But the food and price made upFor the lack of service. Unfortunately they don't have lattes but the food made up for that too!! Will be back when we are back in town! Ambience is we enjoyed it!

Came for morning breakfast since a friend highly recommended it. I'm glad he did! Love the cosy cabin vibe. Unfortunately, it was quite a busy morning on Saturday. One person was working the whole side of the restaurant. I love the newspaper menu. Although it did take awhile to flag down the waitress, once we got our order in, the food came out relatively quickly. Got the bear choice with 2 sausage links, over easy eggs, hashbrowns and 2 pancakes. It is a great deal considering the average price of a meal nowadays. My buddy spoke highly of the biscuits and gravy. So he got that and I swap a pancake for his biscuit and holy moly are the biscuits HUGE! Its enough to KO you! The pancakes are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. One of the best pancakes I've had. I wasn't able to finish my meal, but got to have 2nds later that day.Definitely would come again!

Came across an old receipt and thought to myself, have I yelped this location yet? Nope, so here we go!I'm usually good with Black Bear Diners but, we were here back on a holiday and I chose this one as the hubby and I were in the general area and I had a birthday offer to redeem for the Bears Choice. Breakfast items in the afternoon worked for me! Hubby was also good with the NY steak dinner.So if the food was solid why only 3 stars?This location was ill prepared to serve all the folks coming in on New Year's Day. Guessing they had several sick calls that day. Service was slow and not great. I don't recall but they gave us a complimentary item for the wait. It may have been the huckleberry pie or something.We've usually had 4 star experiences at BBDs and we came on a day that they were understaffed. Will stick with my local one in my neck of the woods though on a regular day, nonpeak time.

Food is what you'd expect from Black Bear Diner. Customer service may be the worst we have ever experienced. The greeter had a terrible attitude and failed to let us know about the hidden fees that were not listed on the menu. We have been to many Black Bear locations and this was by far the worst.

The 3 stars are for the waitress, the food would be -1. As much as I love the bacon red onion ranch & wont be back & yes I say this to myself every time. Over medium eggs aren't that hard to make especially if you're a cook. White running eggs are not over medium. It's always something, but I'm a sucker for that ranch lol. But seriously this time, no more!
