Billy's Meat, Seafood and Deli

You know, I was surprised that I have not reviewed Billy's before. Wow.Hands down, the Poor Boy is the best Italian type sandwich in San Clemente. The Vito at Jimmy John's is pretty good and the Original Italian at Jersey Mike's is also a favorite of mine, but they are 3-4 stars compared to the Poor Boy at Billy's. (Now the former Tina and Vince's large Italian #2 was a 10 on a scale of one to five, but alas they are closed).Enter The Time Machine: When I was a kid, I lived in a very small town in central New York and everyone in the town was Italian except my family (Irish) and one of my friend's family (also Irish). Pretty sure my Italian friends and neghbors were all related as well. The Italian food was amazing, even thinking about it so many years ago I can recall this. My favorite was always a good Italian sandwich with fresh bread and some combo of salami, mortadella, ham, capicola and other awesome meats. Provolone, fresh lettuce, onions and tomatoes were the garnish and a great Italian dressing or the deli's version was drizzled on. Deliziosa! Memories, light the corner of my mind....Back to 2024: Billy's Poor Boy starts with a fresh roll. Piled with ham, mortadella, cotto salami and provolone. As in my memory, lettuce, tomato and red onion with a sprinkle of Italian dressing. Yum, yum, yum. Get it. Get it now.Service is always great and friendly. I have purchase other things, but mainly I go to get the Poor Boy. Chatting with the people behind the deli counter is always good and they have suggestions for trying other things such as their various salads. The selection of deli meats, cheese, fresh meats and steaks and seafood is amazing. Always pricey, but always the best you can find in the area.Go. Eat Well. HAVE FUN!

Really wanted to love this place, especially after the positive reviews and photos of great looking sandwiches. Sadly, my sandwich was pretty awful. I ordered the Poor Boy, which should have had 4 types of Italian meats on it. Mine came with a single slice of ham. Would have sent it back if we didn't wait to eat till we got to the beach.

Frequent here often. I love the poor boy sandwich! Staff is super cool and friendly. All around just a historic business (think they have been around for nearly 40 years). Sad how many historic businesses have sold or gone under. So it is impressive and awesome to have a place like this that represents how San Clemente use to be, while embracing what San Clemente is becoming.

Hand down best spot in SC for meats and fish - the team is awesome - great about sharing tips for prepping what you're purchasing - can't imagine anyone giving this spot less that 5 stars...

Billy's is an institution in San Clemente and one of the best deli sandwiches you can get. They take orders by phone and are kind enough to scoop out the extra bread for me.

great sandwiches and great service. all the staff was nice and they put plenty of meat and goodies on the sandwiches we ordered. this will be a regular place for us when we visit the area for sure

Very friendly with a nice selection! I've picked up a variety of her items and they are all tasty and priced fairly. The location on their main street downtown is ideal while shopping in the area. Nice option if you are looking for a quick lunch or some thing to take home and cook with at home.

Favorite sandwich spot hands down. Because of it we now have the tradition of "sandwich Fridays." And perfect for picking up little grocery items as well. A true local spot!

There's a lot squeezed into this delightful deli on the sidelines of Del Mar. But there's everything you want in here from a great breakfast burrito to deli sandwiches with a nice variety of sides to choose from. Yummy bakery items. Check out the fresh meat and fish counter. If you don't want to cook peek into the freezer they have opposite of the meat counter. Anything you forgot for your picnic should be At Billy's. I've had sandwiches there before and they're just great but this time I ordered a breakfast burrito. It was so substantial and delicious. Cooked to order and served All Day! Staff is friendly with a genuinely good attitude.

Always amazing. We love Billy's! Great meat and salad selections. It's our go to place to get a quick sandwich. Everything is always fresh and well made. Service is always friendly. It's a Sam Clemente must.
