Bigshots Billiards Bar & Grill

Firstly This is always been a wonderful place, for the past 31 years! Country western dancing, (they' probably have other types of music, but every time I come in, it'scountry-western and that's OK with me. There are pool tables, and groups are usually polite about letting the next patrons have their turns. I've never purchased fancy mixed drinks here, it's more of a beer place to me. I don't remember buying anything but chicken wings here!The facade esp during the daytime can use an updated paint job. I've always appreciated the fact that they consistently ID/card people before entering. There have been other local bars and dance places, but they come and go, but this big shots Billards, seems to always be here to stay. I recall a time where line dancing and cowboy boots were extremely popular. I believe that was in the 90s or late 80s. This place was really popular then especially (aging myself here). lol When I come here, it's more for a nostalgic memory. It's nice to know that for nightlife this has always been a choice, and we appreciate that.

I call it the big red barn ~ off the 5 fwy at El Toro. It's a big saloon with music, a dance floor, lots of billiard tables, and a bar area. Seeking a friendly place to go out dancing, I've tried big shots a couple of times. If you like line dancing, they've got it. Personally, I'm a West Coast Swing dancer, and line dancing doesn't give me the same thrills. For me, better when there was a live band than on a line dancing night.The place is spacious and clean, and has hightop tables for seating. Once past the front door security and cover charge, the clientele is welcoming. On my last visit, the bartender Mike/Michael, was rude. I read reviews that said he was very friendly, not to me. Perhaps my request for a single malt scotch was overwhelming for him. He had little to zero knowledge of what I was asking for. I took my scotch and my Modelo and sat near the billiard tables with a view of the dance floor. Waitresses were accommodating. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food is okay for bar food. I had a hamburger there once and I've seen other folks eating wings and things. Wish there was a country bar in South Orange County with more focus on the music and the dancing. This is so nearby for me that I had really hoped to love it. ‍*BUT, the two taco trucks in the parking lot are outstanding! They're there daily from 3PM to midnight. Both very different and delicious.

first of all, i apologize to BigShots because i may or may not have climbed on a pool table last night WHICH I DO NOT RECOMMEND. that being said,this is a marvelous spot if you're looking for a good time. tons of pool tables, good music (leans towards country, not my thing but i've heard worse) & lots of space.what makes this place special is the staff! they work really hard together & are actually quite kind & approachable. props to Mike the bartender who holds it down in the busy bar, he has a great sense of humor & kills it handling all the lively guests.we came to celebrate our coworker & had a blast as usual! i want to come earlier next time so i can try the food but one of the patrons directed us to a taco truck on the other side of the parking lot as we left that was fire.thank you for putting up with our shenanigans & for all your hard work staff at BigShots! you are appreciated!!

Great place for billiards and live music, with a nice big dance floor and a noise restriction that allows you to hear the music at an ear friendly level.

Was here on a Friday night. Got here around 6pm and there were couple of pool tables still available. In total they have 9 tables. By 7.30pm all the tables were taken and there seems to be folks waiting for tables.There are different programs here on different night. On Wed and Thur night they have line dancing and today on Friday they have a band playing. The band started playing around 9pm and was actually quite entertaining. Few folks got on the dance floor and were dancing to the 80's and 90's songs. The food here is your typical bar food. Service is actually good given that they have about 2 servers serving all the folks playing pool and the other side of the place with tables.

I didn't try food but beer selection was not great. Pool tables, although lots of them, were old and not in good shape. Felt was old, stained all over and poorly installed - lots of wrinkles around cushions and pockets. Cushions were hard. Hours on yelp say open until 2 but they told me I had to bounce at 1. For an hour of pool and 1 beer, I was charged $21, which seems high for a Tuesday but not worth asking - probably intentional. Of course, I wasn't given an itemized receipt. Music was kind of country and crowd was WT.. when waiting to close out, the guy on one side of me was pretending he was "Asian" and being super racist and the guy on the other side said something that sounded racist about Arabs, all within a couple minutes of me without headphones in.. the first guy made me kind of want to punch him since my wife is Chinese and daughter is half "Asian". That said, bartender seemed nice enough, even if a bit loose on the charges, and it didn't seem like a hostile crowd, even if a tad waspy and racist.Bottom line, if you're aren't opposed to racist idiots, aren't a beer snob and not a serious pool player, then this might work for you. Or there was a positive review about a guy with his family.. that also might work I guess. However, I went to this spot for the pool and so am giving it a review primarily in line with the quality of the tables, which I consider middle of the road, maybe 2.5, rounded to 3 star, but am dinging the review another star due to them closing an hour earlier than is advertised on yelp.. I passed up hitting other spots with better tables since this shows a 2am close. The beer selection is also average and I'd have to go more to know if the racism was isolated so am not dinging for that.Room for improvement - new felt and cushions would be a relatively cheap fix and would probably add a star. Also, either stay open until 2 or update hours.

I truly hate writing a 1 star review. but this one is justified. Two nights ago my niece who is visiting wanted to go shoot pool. I'm not really a pool player so I yelped the nearest pool bar. Thats how we eded up at Bigshots Billiards Bar & Grill. There was a bouncer and there was a cover charge which seemed normal not an issue. I ordered us a couple of beers and she went to reserve a pool table. The Bartender Michael took her drivers license and we got couple of cues. We played 2 horrible games ( we both are bad ) and finished our beers and left. The next day my niece realizes OMG I left my drivers license there. No problem we go back to get her drivers license. This is where the ONE STAR Review Starts:So we go in and talk to The Bartender Michael to retrieve her drivers license. Thats when Michael hands us a tab for $57.00 !!!!!! We are like what is this for ? He then explains that she didn't get her drivers license at the end and somehow that meant we had reserved the table for the ENTIRE night !!!! When we question this ridicules practice Bigshot Michael points to a small blurry TV in the corner of the bar and in small type it mentions this weird grift. With no real recourse and my niece needing her drivers license, I paid the bill. Then I proceeded to order a drink and paid for it and left no tip, then I was about to buy the entire bar a drink and again not tip Bigshot Michael. Thats when Bigshot Michael takes us outside and asks us to leave. So like most 1 star review this meant to alert customers of Bigshots Billiards Bar & Grill and The Bartender Bigshot Michael shady grift practices.Edit to be fair Al little clarification may be necessary after discussing the matter with my niece. So we leaned up the cue sticks against the bar and to be honest we are both not really pool players so we are not familiar with pool etiquette. Also there was no indication or instruction from the staff that they needed to be return to a specific location. So our bad technically. Additionally my nieces bad for not remembering to get her license back. I was not aware that she had to do anything I was hanging watching other people play pool. That said the table was snapped up by other people so they knew we had left and were not using the table all night. Also a young novice young woman they should have either explained it at the time she got the equipment instead of relying on a small blurry type on a TV behind the bar. Additionally how about be like "hi you didn't return the equipment properly usually we would charge you, but let it be a learning lesson for when you come back. Ya know customer service not holding a young girls divers license hostage and then just hand a $57 tab and demand payment. When we questioned this practice Michael compared it to renting a car and not returning it properly. Kinda lame in my humble opinion. Worst place ever! Bad food and service is horrible! I put my name for the table and when I received the text I went 2 minutes later to take the table the racist bar tender girl said I gave it to another person because you were late, and I aid fine I'll wait for the next one, and when the next one was ready she gave it again to another person, and when I said why you did that and I want to talk to your manager she told the manager that I insulted her and manager kicked me out without even listen to me. They don't even let me grab my jacket! If my friends were not inside to bring me my stuff I would have call the police. Don't go there if you are a decent logical person.

To many drugs, underaged people drinking , vaping and smoking is permitted inside. The music is to loud and the Staff is rude. The tables are not kept clean as well as the sticky floors. EWhy the health department hasn't closed it is a mystery. The food is the only outstanding depending on the night .
