Bear Flag Fish

I love this location of bear flag. Its located in a plaza with plenty of parking with outdoor and indoor seating. They are always busy though. We came on a Saturday and the line to order was out the door but it did move fairly fast. I ordered my usual poke burrito with brown rice and 2 types of fish (salmon and tuna). I normally also order the salmon and tuna poke which comes with chips. I also love that they have self serve water and sauce station. I did have to ask for the tommy sauce though because it wasnt placed out. Overall, their food quality is pretty good. Very spacious outdoor area and the service is always nice and friendly.

We went to visit our friends and they took us here for lunch & wow, not only was I blown away by the view but the food was soo good!! I got the guac & chips (10/10), the clam chowder (9/10) & the salmon poke (10/10) & I was just a very happy camper. That special Tommy's sauce though, I'm gonna think about that for a while. It reminded me so much of the sauce that they put on Asian honey walnut shrimps for some reason! I almost drank the whole little container! We sat outside, the weather was perfect, food was great & was with amazing company.

Avoid this location at all costs, the sushi is premade and tasteless, our orders were incorrect, the service was slow and rude. Management was rigid and difficult to work with when approached with these concerns. Food is premade and the experience is chaotic. Do not waste your money or time - visit the Newport Beach location instead and have an excellent experience!

Came here for Taco Tuesday with my partner and her mom. We didn't realize, but the half off promo only applies to the Bear Flag taco. If you get a specialty or premium taco, there is no discount. I got three tacos, and my favorite was the scallop. I also got the king salmon and tuna poke tacos. I wasn't a huge fan of the king salmon, but I probably should have expected this since I prefer raw salmon over cooked salmon! The tuna poke taco was good but nothing special. Parking was nearly full on a weekday night. Service was quick and kind. The establishment itself is in a nice shopping center too!

Bear flag is probably my favorite spot for poke in Orange County! I have come here many times and the fish is consistently delicious. I usually order 1 pound of salmon poke, 1 pound of tuna poke, and 1 pound of ceviche. The ceviche is probably my favorite, but you can't go wrong with any of them! Bear flags serves these all up with a side of tortilla chips but you can make your own poke bowls at home if you'd like. I believe you can also have a poke bowl made here but I prefer to just buy the fish and do what I wish at home with it. Their calamari is also amazing! I find the price rather reasonable, especially because you are only getting the fish and you can stretch the fish pretty far among multiple people! I usually order about 1/2 of fish per person. The inside can get crowded, but a tip is if you keep walking towards the Trader Joe's there is a nice picnic area with an ocean view that is a lot nicer than the seating options closer to bear flag! Overall, I highly recommend bear flag! The service is fast and the food is great.

Was a little skeptical about this place when my friends were telling me its some of the best fish tacos ever but now I definitely get the hype. So fresh! I got the mahi mahi burrito and its pretty filling. I would say I wish it had its own sauce for some sort of extra flavor instead of me having to dose it down with hotsauce. That special sauce that they have is pretty amazing too. Would definitely come back

Bear Flag in CDM is an absolute gem! I came in craving fresh seafood, and they did not disappoint. The guacamole is outstanding--perfectly seasoned and pairs so well with everything! The tuna poke is hands down some of the best I've had. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for.What really made my visit special was the service. Hailey, the cashier at the front, was incredibly pleasant, friendly, and really took the time to break down the menu for me despite the long line. She helped me make the perfect choices, and her warm attitude made the experience even better. It's rare to find a team that makes you feel so welcome, and the staff here does it effortlessly.Can't wait to come back! If you're in CDM, Bear Flag is a must.

Alex & Dylan were absolutely fabulous. The fish was incredible, great music , drinks filled to the top, highly recommend !

Food is very fresh and tasty! The fish tacos are filling and great way to fill your appetite! The clam and mussels are very deep in flavor, especially if you soak the bread before you eat! The poke is amazing, however the sesame flavor is very strong. Personally would use a bit of Tommy's sauce and hot sauce. Sacrilegious I know... but the sesame flavor was overwhelming...

We love this place. All the food is fresh and it is a great place to drink beer and wine. Sadly, we will move to another state, but we will definitely visit when we come to Newport again.
