Came here last year and tried the poke. Dont expect much more of sides options, this is true Hawaiian style of meat and rice. It was definitely worth $Then now I stopped by again to get the Hawaiian bbq as well Portuguese sausage with garlic rice. I'm in heaven!Lots of ppl have diff taste buds and expectations but if you want food like you're in Hawaii then this is place to go. So happy cus I usually had to drive up to Carson for true local Hawaiian foods but now that I've tried this place.. I'm coming back!Workers were always friendly and made you feel welcome. Small settings so very mom and pops but clean! Def recommend

Came here because I saw great reviews online and heard someone raving about this place and comparing the poke to foodland in Hawaii and I just had to try it. When I came it it was a little confusing because I didn't see a menu right away and had just wanted to ask about the poke. Only after ordering did I realize there is a GIANT menu on the wall behind me.To keep it short, the fish for the poke looked like it was all only ahi/tuna options and I was looking for salmon, but I didn't see any. There were a ton of different flavors for ahi, however, it wasn't what I was looking for personally. Regardless, I still wanted to try it and got 2 different flavors. The fish tasted like it was previously frozen and not fresh at all. There was a texture in the fish that tasted older and not that fresh. I was a bit disappointed. Quantity wise though, was plenty but the quality was not quite there

Yesterday was our 2nd visit to 808 Local Hawaiian Grill. Daughter had enjoyed her Puaa combo plate last time and was back for more pork. Her sister wanted her to bring back a Loco Moco Lunch Plate for her. Daughter hadn't had breakfast yet because she had left the house early to take a relative to her appointment. She also wanted to order the Big Kahuna and 2 teriyaki Musubi. We arrived before the business was open. A little after 11:00 a.m. the owner came out to set up the 2 tables and 4 chairs for customers. He welcomed us in. Daughter was tempted by the fresh poke in the refrigerated case, but just went with what she originally wanted to order. Another couple did order poke after us. Owner brought out our order to us and thanked us for our patience. He also took care of the missing drink from niece's order that staff had forgotten to deliver with her 2 teriyaki Musubi. We didn't find any brown gravy in the Loco Moco lunch plate, but the plate was still tasty. The teriyaki Musubi was enjoyed for snack.

Aloha hidden gem!! This is my new favorite Hawaiian food restaurant. Lots of flavor and big portions. The chicken katsu is crunchy, yet juicy. (Would probably ask for a side of sauce, I like adding a little to my rice, but that's just me) The bbq teriyaki so GOOD! My favorite is the macaroni salad. I could eat that all the time. First time trying spam and egg musubi was alright, seemed like it needed something. But for me the seaweed was too fishy. Maybe it's not my thing.

Our experience at 808 Local Hawaiian Grill was amazing. Prices are unbeatable for the portion of food that you receive - all prices are roughly between $12-$20 per plate lunch; even including the combination plates. Honestly, such a steal, especially in this economy. Customer service was absolutely top notch! Our cashier on October 4th, 2024 at 1700 (middle eastern male) was absolutely phenomenal. Super kind, easy to talk to, and guided us to getting a meal that we would love! We were told the wait was about 10-15 minutes for food & the food came out quicker than we anticipated. Although the food was great & reminded us of home, his customer service is what would drive us to come back again as loyal customers. We initially were given the wrong items (2 Pipi combinations) & without a doubt, the cashier + workers ensured we were leaving with our correct meal as soon as possible. No hassle, super apologetic & ensured that we were satisfied prior to departing the restaurant. The beef ribs were to die for! The flavor it holds in addition to the "fall off the bone" type of tender. Mac salad is a MUST! So Ono! Kalbi & BBQ chicken was good - but nothing that stuck out to us! If you were to choose one plate lunch, 100% pick beef ribs or any combination plate that includes the beef ribs! Since I am currently pregnant, we will try the Poke another time - otherwise, we will be back SOON! Place is a little small - so it may get crowded easily. There are three 2 (two) top tables in the restaurant & a few seating options outside. If you're lucky, you could snag a seat while waiting/dining in.

The inside felt a bit run down and their menus were behind the cash register and on the wall so I definitely had to swivel my head to choose what to eat. There were three tables of two inside so it seemed more of a pickup and takeout and the staff were really nice. We ordered the chicken katsu plate and the Momona combo plate. The katsu was nice and crispy but a little lack in seasoning and would've loved the sauce on the side to dip. The Momona plate. I LOVED the ribs! It had great flavor but unfortunately that was the only great part of the combo. The bbq chicken was grey and didn't have much flavor and the galbi was good but I was only given a small piece. If I do go back, I would go for the ribs.

Stopped by right when they opened up at 11AM and it did not disappoint! They definitely did start getting busier and busier as time passed as it was lunch hours and nearby a lot of businesses and CHOC. The service went by quick and they were very attentive towards us to ensure we enjoyed our order. My boyfriend and I weren't super hungry yet so we shared the combo with Kalbi, beef ribs and teriyaki chicken and a side of garlic rice. The garlic rice is definitely garlicky but also buttery. The proteins had a nice char flavor and was super flavorful. We substituted the greens for Mac salad and it was delicious. Will definitely come back to try more of their goodies!

My coworker showed me this place for lunch, and I've been 3 times since. The portions are great and the food is so flavorful and fresh. Such a small restaurant so definitely better for take out or you can hopefully grab one of the 5-10 tables they have available. I've tried both the chicken and beef!
