OK. I kinda get the whole "we're gonna be unique by not having a menu" thingy. But when the unitemized bill shows up and three shredded chicken enchiladas with rice, child cheese quesadilla, tea, lemonade and a side of guacamole shows up on a bill at $58, that is insane. Perhaps it wouldn't be so insane if folks had a basic clue as to what they are getting and at what price. But they don't. It's all a mystery. After reading other such experiences I guess I'm just glad my bill wasn't $158. They can literally put any number on your check and expect you to pay it. My wife was wanting to call the place to inquire if there was a mistake but she decided not to. The food was average Mexican food. Had better, had worse.I left Irma's extremely uncomfortable with their business practice. I don't mind eating expensive food. But don't make the expense a complete mystery. I am sure Irma's has its niche clientele who enjoys the whole experience of overpaying for food while pretending they just dinned in some niche establishment, but I found the experience insulting. The reality is there are so many better home style Mexican food establishments in this city.

Me and 23 friends spent a whopping $2500 on a Saturday night here and the server couldn't have been bothered to tell even one person that if we don't take our cars out of the parking lot, the gate will be locked until Monday. I had to wait until Monday to get my car. What if I had medication in my car? What if I had to go out of town on Sunday?I had to Uber to work on Monday and then Uber there at lunch because they close at 3. $93 a person. Since when did tex mex become that expensive? And when a party is spending that much at a restaurant that kind of thing should be communicated. Period. This was the biggest hassle for mediocre food and an insanely expensive margaritas. I will never be back and make sure I tell everyone I know about this and my experience. What an absolute joke.

We had a large party of 16 for lunch before an Astros game. The service was good, and the place was full of other Astros fans just before a day game. I had one of the specials, Chicken Mole. The chicken was moist and the mole sauce was very flavorful. The mole sauce had a little spice, which I enjoyed. Before our meal was served, they provided chips with a red salsa, guacamole, and queso. The red salsa was very good, and a little hotter than most table salsas, but I enjoyed the extra kick.

How can you not give this place 5 stars.... The food was authentic and amazing... everything that hit the table was the best we'd EVER eaten... just so delicious! But the best part of Irma's is that they really treat you like family coming over to dinner. Truly one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had. Seriously!!!Pictures are only the appetizers

This Houston hidden gem! Why are the reviews so low?! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with warm welcomes. We sit down, chips and salsa are brought to the table; they recommend the homemade fresh lemonade. O-M-G--- so refreshing, I think there was watermelon and apple bits in it-- I don't know what's in there but it's freakin delicious. There's no menus- our waiter (one of the owners/one of the brothers) rattled off the offerings off the top of his head. One we ordered, he brings out a small side of charro beans for each of us. The carne guisada comes out. Flavorful, spicy but not over the top. Fresh homemade tortillas. I cleaned my plate. Family ran spot for 34 years. Delicious food.Chill ambiance. Support local. This is on my list for spots to return to.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAOk sorry, I've left plenty of one star reviews before...but man, I've never wanted to leave negative stars. If I could, I would. Years ago, this place was featured on a prominent food critic TV show. You can likely figure out which one. I won't name names because I'm going to guess they gave him the royal treatment. The place is cute. That's the most positive thing I could say. They have like 25 people working there. Not one person could be bothered to greet us at the door or give us menus (oh don't worry it gets worse). The person sitting in the back lazily waved at us and said "take that table next to window." Okay cool, whatevs. Laid back vibe, I can dig it.The old dude replenished our water, another person (a woman) brings us chips and salsa. Asks if we'd like guacamole or queso. I declined - figured whatever I was eating might come with so I just wanted to see the menu. She leaves.Another person (by my count, four) comes by, says something marginally rude about our shirts (we were in town, following our baseball team, and we were representing). But we laughed it off...And then yet ANOTHER person comes by (five!) comes and asks us how we're doing. I figured maybe they forgot to give us menus? Which like that's literally the first thing a restaurant does right? GIVES A MENU?! So I asked if we could have menus. "Oh they'll come out soon. May I start you with a drink?" We get two margaritas. So let me be clear. I'm from NYC. I've been to Houston one other time. Till today, I had nothing but great things to say about the restaurants and service industry. Everyone has been super nice and pleasant, more than happy to serve usThis place? PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Like literally, if you are thinking of coming here, turn that car around and go A N Y W H E R E else. The margaritas?! They were Margarita flavored water. I'm like 900% certain there was no alcohol in them. And to add insult to injury?! They had the BRASS COJONES to charge us $15/piece. Get out of here. No literally. That's what we did.Oh and over an hour?! No menu. Heck, I'd have taken the lady barking specials at us as someone else described. Honestly how does this place stay on business? Because Fuy Gieri liked it like 15 years ago?! You're better off going to a game at Minute Maid, and getting the Kickin nachos with a froZen marg. I had rented a zipcar, and it was getting close to the time I had to return it. Most of all? I'm disappointed because this was the last outdoor meal (outside of a ballgame) I was going to have in Houston. NO BUENO.So to recap: if being served by rude and ineffective staff, paying $15 for watered down likely virgin margaritas, no pricing or menus readily available all to say you ate a place that a famous blond chef once upon a time ate it...this is your place.Otherwise go to a taco truck. They'll appreciate your business more.

Good spot for Mexican food. Service is good and the ambience is good...it's just far from my normal scene so it is somewhere I visit when in the area. There is a peanut allergy with the mole but they still have many options to order.
