This mom and pop shop near UCSD is a small but bustling market that also serves some delicious Mediterranean food. The Chicken Kabob plate I got was so juicy and filled me up. This spot also doubles as a market for Mediterranean groceries!

Good mom & pop spot for Persian food and groceries around campus.International market and grill is worth checking out if you are around UCSD and looking for a meal. Their menu is limited to a few different kabobs and some salads, but they do offer some other specials during the week. I've had the chicken kabob and the house kabob. Both were great! They come with a side salad, some tasty sauce, and a generous heaping of rice. They also offer some groceries over here. The pomegranate molasses, drinks, and baked goods are particularly appealing to me. I also appreciate the selection of ahmad teas.___EXTRA INFO___-Parking can be tough during peak hours. -Check the expiry dates. My wife and I opened up some ayran and only to discover that the best by date had already passed.

This place is near and dear to my heart. I first went here as a 20 year old UCSD student in the late 90s and continued to eat here regularly until leaving San Diego 4 years ago. Whenever I'm back in San Diego it will be one of the first places I visit. It simply is the best kebabs you can get. I say this as someone who lived in NYC and has traveled around the world a fair bit. Sure, you have to put in an order early during the lunch rush, but there is a reason for it.

Man that cooks is so rude and disrespectful. Mind you my family and I are literally persian and speak farsi and this man was so annoyed that we came in for some food. Don't really know if the food is any good but don't expect much

Best chicken kebab in San Diego. This place is owned by a lovely couple that make the food themselves. Don't forget to try the Persian tea. Mostly regulars here (which should tell you something) - a UTC/UCSD institution.Love it!

This place is like none other! The small grocery market with Mediterranean products has some of the best International items that you will find. Every time I go there, I see new and exciting grocery items on the shelves...The restaurant portion has amazing daily specials throughout the week. This is some of the best Persian food that I've ever had!! I've been visiting Houshang for over 20 years now in this small venue located just down the hill from UCSD School of Medicine. This is a La Jolla Mom & Pop gem!

This place is a gem! If you're looking for delicious homemade Persian food then this is the place to eat! The owners are a husband and wife who cook together, and create such a home like environment and touch to your experience. They have daily specials on their menu that are made fresh to order the day of. (Be sure to get to the specials asap because they do sell out). They have a great variety for you to choose from. Enjoy!

Covid review #72 --- They've been here 25 years and I'm finally trying a sandwich. For longevity and charming hole-in-the-wall type quality, I give 5 stars. "I hope they don't close the outside, " he said as he, the very nice man and very nice lady of the international market entertained my ramblings about our California governor's recent decisions to allow Hollywood be exempt from his newest covid rules whims, while the rest of us have to be home by 10pm for a month... yeah right, they said 2 weeks about 9 months ago... And how the governor was caught eating in an intimate private room with 12 others from different households while he advised us not to celebrate Thanksgiving... and how people can go into strip clubs to be entertained but not into churches to worship... ...but I digress... boy, were they patient with me while I waited for my freshly grilled sandwich. They deserve an award. In all my rambling their beautiful teapot caught my eye and I ended up adding a delicious Persian tea to my takeout order. I added 1 sugar cube upon advisement from the local experts. My sandwich traveled well. I ate half in my car and then the other half at home with a little vino... it was a beef tenderloin sandwich afterall.Plenty of nearby parking to run in and run out. They also have a small attached market. I found unique items like rose jam, sumac and canned babaganoush. If you're hankering for Mediterranean and want to support a small local business, this is your next spot.
