Insomnia Cookies

Intrigued by the business name, we stopped by to check it out. The lady at the counter greeted us with a huge smile and offered to let us sample the ice cream flavors. I settled on the purple s'mores ice cream. Delicious, light and not too sweet. Refreshing on a hot day.I didn't try the cookies though. Next visit...Added bonus: clean restrooms.

AVOID!!! As a cookie lover, here is a warning: support CHUBBY COOKIE CO or LEVAIN instead. Both of these cookie companies have locations in Los Angeles alongside Insomnia. Everyone is also doing nationwide shipping nowadays- don't bother with Insomnia! I would have overlooked the expensive Insomnia prices, but I just had to go through one of the WORST experiences. They were quick to take my money, but couldn't fill my order. It's probably the reason why I'm going to have insomnia tonight. As a manager myself, it is imperative management of this establishment re-evaluate the details of this business immediately. The incompetence of the staff here left me flabbergasted.I placed my order around 8 PM. Employees knew they were out of s'mores and triple chocolate chunk deluxe cookies at that point. I agreed to wait 20 mins for the new batch of cookies, but let them know I was on a strict clock ticking down because my parking expired at 8:45 PM.I returned at 8:23 PM. I was notified it would be another 5 mins. I figured I'd barely make it back to my car, but I agreed. Upon my return, I was notified it would be another 5 mins.This was when things spiraled out of control. Despite knowing the cookie flavors I'd ordered over 30 mins ago, the deluxe s'more cookies were never put into the oven. I was at a loss for words. Did management never train their employees in time management?? Or how some simple common sense? Or how about multi-tasking?! Is baking multiple cookie flavors simultaneously in different ovens too much to handle?The employee came in and out of the back FOUR TIMES, each time with one less flavor available. I heard a collective murmur behind me and saw an entire group of people leave the store.There was no way I was going to pay for another hour of parking AND wait a collective 60+ mins for some cookies. I was not offered a refund or discount- just a noncommittal half assed apology. I had to leave without half of my intended order because of incompetent staff. NEVER RETURNING AGAIN. TO ANY OF THE LOCATIONS. No one needs Insomnia since Levain & Chubby Cookie Co have locations in Los Angeles.

I really wanted cookies to end my night in Gaslamp so we walked over to Insomnia cookies.The gal behind the counter was really nice and I asked for the 12 mini cookies. She said she had to check if they had enough left and she came back and said they did. Well, when I got home I opened the box to see some really tiny cookies. I'm talking bite sized cookies! I definitely felt like I got ripped off. I wish the girl would've just told me she didn't have 12 cookies to make the mini order, rather than sell me 9 mini cookies and 3 bite sized cookies.

Stopped into this quaint cookie shop and it did not disappoint. We ordered the confetti, salted caramel, oatmeal, walnut, and chocolate peanut butter cookies. All of the cookies were very soft inside, perfectly sweet and not over powering sweet. There was just enough add ins on each cookie to make us keep taking bite after bite. These cookies will have you wanting more.The cashier was super sweet. The only bit of advice is, she never offered the four pack of cookies. It wasn't until I looked at the menu, I noticed it would be cheaper to do a four pack. Offering the combos when people are ordering would've been helpful. Other than that, I will definitely come back when in San Diego.

Omg, the fact that the cookies are warm and gooey when you get them is the best thing ever!!! They also stay open late! The place gets crowded but it's worth the wait. All the cookies are good, the brownies are ok but with ice cream they are great! Will definitely come back here again. The s'more cookie is to die for

First time at this place. I eyeballed it as I was dining at a restaurant across the way so I thought it would be a great place to get some dessert. I was not disappointed. Yum!!! The peanut butter chocolate cookie!!! The staff were nice and welcoming. So I'll d recommend this place for a nice cookie treat.

The absolute best cookies! The chocolate chip is my favorite. Not a whole lot to say besides these are literally the best cookies, they've been my favorite for over 10 years when I lived in nyc. And they're open late. So glad they're downtown!

A couple friends and I shared a few different cookies and they were all delicious. The staff was great and very friendly.

First thing I noticed as we walked in was how clean it is. We were greeted by Tray, cashier/server with long blonde hair. She is very friendly and served everybody's order efficiently and professionally. Even as busy as it was, she maintained and friendly and positive demeanor - as a patron, VERY much appreciated. The only improvement I could see was how our brownie/cookie with ice cream could have been better served in a different container. But looks like they only had these cardboard boxes. Overall, though, ice cream and brownie and cookie (white chocolate and macadamia) were yummy! We are it all! :D

These cookies were nothing special. They were crumbly and fell apart. I personally like soft cookies and these were harder. The service was great and the cashier was very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. They had a variety of cookies and ice cream. I would only go back if I was in downtown and really craving a cookie. The ambiance is fun being right in downtown.
