If you haven't been to Whitestown in a couple years, you have missed out on a lot of changes that appeal to the quality of life. After leaving the repurposed school which is now a nice place for dining and enjoying some fine craft beers, you may notice some nice parks that have been improved, the Big Four trail (a hiking and biking paved trail where the Big Four rail lines used to be.Back in 2019, this mural was added to the side of one of the buildings where Main Street crosses the trail. In addition to a number of historical plaques that were installed along the trail, local artist Erin Quigley was hired to add this mural of a locomotive engine to honor the history of the railroad to the growth of the town. If you want to know more about the dedication, check out the link added to the business' profile page.Although the locomotive engine may not be full size, it is still large enough to grab your attention. The detail is beautifully rendered even though the surface is uneven. Quigley worked on the mural for quite awhile, but was able to finish it in time for the dedication ceremony in Oct 2019.The black and white image is painted on a sepia toned background that makes it look like a large flyer/poster promoting the establishment of Whitestown.Review #3849
