Whitestown Farmer's Market

The Whitestown Farmers Market is held on Thursday nights in the parking lot of Main Street Park. This week, there were about 16 vendors. I come for the produce. There was only one vendor with produce, probably because it's early in the season. That vendor had beautiful local strawberries that I bought. (Best I've had this season). There were two vendors selling local meats, one selling eggs, one selling honey and a Grilliant food truck selling brats, hot dogs, etc. Other vendors were selling crafts or commercial products. I would have preferred seeing less (or no) commercial products and more farm products. People were friendly. I did enjoy seeing and talking to neighbors. There was a small area for kids to play or draw with chalk. The library also had their bookmobile at the park. Parking is limited especially if a lot of people using the park. There are nice restroom facilities on site.

Very very small farmer's market. I hope that it gets more attention and visitors soon because the merchants are probably turning away from this one due to lack of customers. They have a great location going for them and parking is right next to where the tables are set up.The Zionsville Farmer's Market is most likely at capacity each week so I wish Whitestown could do the same. Maybe some more events or specials would help them out. I just didn't see too many businesses I would even approach. For example, I'm not looking to inquire insurance at a farmer's market. When I think of an Indiana farmer's market I think of corn, flowers, bread, strawberries, and something to eat. Hopefully things pick up soon.
