Great place to relax and have a chat with old and new friends. Taaaco Tuesdays need to become a more frequent trip for us. Good prices for anywhere in urban Indy.

How does one review a work of art? How many stars would one give the Mona Lisa? How many likes does the statue of David merit? What ignorant pretension! Why do we strive to apply objectivity to the subjective wonders of art that defy reason and speak directly to one's soul? This is obstacle one grapples with in reviewing Whitaker's Speakeasy. What hubris, what self importance, what arrogance does it take to arbitrarily apply some number of stars that declare the value of the artistic masterpiece that is this bar? It's intimate alcoves of aesthetic beauty and subtle majesty can't be measured by anything less than on how much one values the secret wisdom it writes onto your very soul. Yet this is not art that one hangs in a museum. One does not rope away this bar to be passively appreciated from a distance. Nay, this is folly! This bar must be experienced. It has aged and matured like a fine wine and a patron must be deep inside it to truly behold the nuanced ecstasy it can imprint onto your being. That's my review, dear reader. The Silver Strike machine only costs a dollar.

This is a little neighborhood bar that kind of reminds me of just sitting back into a cushy recliner. It's very easy to kind of just make your way in and sit down and have one drink turn into three or four. I think they have quite a set roster of regulars. When you walk in, they know if you come there on the regular or not, but if not, they certainly make you feel welcome. According to my music tastes, they have a great selection on the jukebox. Our bartender was great! She was friendly, made a great long island, and I love how cold the beer is. My impression is that this is a Budweiser drinking establishment, but they indulged my Miller High Life fetish with a can and an ice cold mug. Now, that's hospitality! Can't wait to visit again.
