Whistle

This was a fun stop on our way through this area. The staff were very friendly. They recommended the "train wreck special", which was a large baked potato with bbq, nacho cheese, green onions, and sour cream. It was pretty good. It was a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. Look. The atmosphere is great if you enjoy history and trains. Beyond that? Terrible. I ordered the lightly breaded perch, it was over cooked and chewy and flavorless. Husband got a steak, way over cooked. The loaded baked potato has squeeze cheese on top making it a monstrosity. We got my son chicken poppers and even those were over cooked. We came here for dinner with our 3 year old thinking it would be fun. It took us an hour and 20 minutes to get our food.... Service was good about refilling our drinks, that's about it. It was not very busy and looked like there was plenty of people working. Overall, this is a far cry to being considered "good", and yes, we are raised here locals. Heavily disappointed with the food and we will not be coming back.

Great home cooking. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great train museum, too. Lots to see and do.

Wasn't real busy but getting waited on seemed like a task... they don't have waffle fries anymore ... real skimpy on the portions, I got maybe 7 fries not exaggerating... last time we got a piece of cake it was huge, this time is was a small circle of carrot cake... prices increase, portions decrease..

Very interesting the Whistle Stop Restaurant! Model train and Railroad Ambiance. Drink orders taken pretty quick and received with in minutes. Ordered the onion rings as an appetizer. Took 15 minutes to get them but they were really hot and pretty tasty! Wife ordered the All Aboard burger and she liked it and had to take half home. Pretty standard burger I think. I ordered the Bacon Overload burger and it was delicious! The Bacon Jam and "Sausome Sauce" were tasty condiments. Burgers took 37 minutes to arrive at the table. All in all we enjoyed the meal and service was pretty good, Kitchen was pretty slow and resuwas less than half full at 3 pm when we arrived.

I went to the Whistle Stop earlier today around 2. The wifi stopped working and the credit card machine was not working. There was one particular woman giving the young ladies working a hard time. The group of ladies cooperated in a very well and respectful manner. Seeing that there was not a manager or anyone of a higher authority present, allowed myself to feel sorrow for the ladies having to endure such behavior. However, these women graced others with respect and did not once slack in service! Great job to everyone who was working today!

Tenderloin was decent. Prices seemed higher than they needed to be even inflation adjusted; comparable to fair food pricing. Servers were friendly. Took quite a while to get food with only one other family there. Trains were cool.
