Before I start some of my reviews I like to talk a little bit about my expectations. First off, both my husband and I enjoy outdoor activities and are no strangers to staying a few days in the wilderness without any amenities or comforts. Last Summer our perspective changed quite a bit when our first child was born. My danger factor is much higher now.Wasatch is a beautiful small lake, like something out of a novel. All of the cabins are close to the water and are fully stocked with everything you need except for your own food, charcoal, bug spray, sunscreen and bottled water (water is potable but it has a sulfur smell and taste that might be odd to most people). Outside of every cabin you will find your own canoe, outdoor grill, fire pit, picnic table, chairs and even bird feeder and bat box (trust me those bats make a world of difference during mosquito season). Our cabin (#9, Wooden Glen) had an outdoor shower which was very helpful with a large dog among our party. If you didn't bring your own 'fun' you might be able to find a board game in the lodge or play a round of pool or horseshoe. The lodge has wifi and TV if you need to reconnect to the outside world. Cell phone calls, texting and internet will be extremely limited if not impossible at your cabin. I find this to be a positive in my book as we really needed to unplug as a family. If you are bringing a baby, please keep a few things in mind:1. Bring your own travel crib.2. Bring your own water since baby might be sensitive to the well water if mixing with formula.3. Check, check, check your cabin for insects. We had a few wasps in our cabin that were probably there long before we got there (they were slow slow moving and probably about to die). We did not see any other bugs alive and I am constantly on spider watch, even in my own home in the city. Did not see a single spider, but I was a little unnerved by the wasps. We saw no signs of mice or other critters. We will be back for another weekend at Wasatch in the future. The fishing is fantastic (well stocked) and there are many hiking trails walkable for all ages. Pro tip: never miss a sunset while staying here.

I have gone back and forth with writing this review, and I tried to give the property manager a lengthy time to respond to our concerns. First visit was about 5 years ago, and we rented the largest cabin for a multi-family trip. Everyone had a lot of fun, and not one complaint about the cabin, boats, dock, etc. The rec room was incredibly rundown, but that has since been improved. We decided to go back in April of 2019 for 2 nights. We rented a 1br (Moss Haven) for 2 - there's no way you could sleep 4 in this cabin. The pullout couch was so beat up, I'd hate to think what the mattress looked like. There was a very soft spot in the floor by the main entrance door that I was concerned we may fall through. I expect bugs in a cabin, and there were lots of ants. The water smelled so bad that we didn't shower or drink the water. Since this is the smallest cabin available, we figured that it was used frequently, and run down. So, we decided that we would try again. We went in June and upgrade to something a little larger (Sunshine) even though we didn't need the extra space. We started to unpack items, and instantly noticed that we weren't alone. There were mice or another animal that had made it's home in the silverware drawer. Pee and poo all over everything. I had brought stuff to use, so we decided not to be bothered by it, and go fishing for the day/evening. Great fishing this time, so we were very happy....until the next day.Got up next morning to find that the animals had come thru a giant hole in one of the cabins, ate our dog's food, poo'd on the couch, counter, etc. Took this up with the caretakers - one seemed concerned, the other said "Oh, they're coming thru that big hole in the cabinets.... they're chipmunks." I get that I'm in nature, and I don't "scare easily", but there's no reason they should be coming in thru a huge hole at night especially if the caretakers know about it. I'm not some city folk that can't handle a bug or two, or animals outside of the cabin, however, this was a rodent with lots of diseases that is crapping all over everything. Plus, it's $250 a night to stay here, not some cheap $50-100 cabin a night. Our trip was over $550 for 2 nights. I don't expect luxury since its fishing, but I dont want to be attacked in the night by rodents. So, the caretaker poisoned the chipmunks, didn't fix the hole, laughed me off, and sent his wife (the cleaning crew) to clean up. We put a chair in front of the cabinet door overnight, and still found more poo the next day. I called the property manager once we were home, and she "sympathized", but seemed more concerned about linens and cookware quality. I expected to hear back from her, and never did. I wasn't looking for compensation - just want things improved so we can go back someday and it be improved. It's sad that this place seems overall run down. I think the owner had good intentions when he bought and renovated this place in the 90's, but it's time for another reno. And, you need good caretakers. The only reason we would go back would be for convenience and fishing - otherwise, at $250+ a night, it's a dump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not sure I'd pay $50 a night at this point. If I want to sleep with the animals, I'll buy a tent.
