Virgil Park is a tribute to Diana and Hall Virgil, who were instrumental in converting the B&O Railroad Track into Community Trails. The couple raised money and solicited grants in a grass root effort to build the trail that now borders the park. The park itself is small, but well equipped. There are about 20 parking spaces including an ADA space and bike parking. There is a space with upscale outdoor adult exercise equipment. The kid's playground has soft matting and a nice, but small, climbing structure and elevated rock/sand table. There are nice paved and decked walkways that surround a wetland marsh area that attracts birds and a second prairie space. Plenty of nice benches line the trail, making the park ideal for birdwatching. Placards are statistically placed which describe the natural grasslands. There are nice restroom facilities and a water fountain at the park. There is also a covered pavilion with a couple picnic tables. This is a great little park that is accessible from the trail or by road.

This park is amazing! I lived everything about it! From the trails that connect to the B&O to the nature inspired kids activities and especially the adult equipment! Adults are able to tone up as they watch their children play nearby. I worked in my arms. There are three pieces of adult equipment to choose from. Loved the turf covered hills and the fallen tree balance beams! There is also a water table that allows children to push a button and pretend play. Various climbing spider like webs and a bridge. There is a pole to slide down as well as stairs to go up to the ladder. Along the trails there are photos of birds and bugs to keep your eyes open to and also photos of what flowers to search for. A sort of scavenger hunt for children and adults also! The picnic area and restrooms are a great add on and there are trash bins and bags to walk your dog!

Virgil Park officially opened to the public in May 2024, and it seems to be an amazing addition to the westside of Indianapolis thus far. I love new parks and playgrounds, so visiting this new Brownsburg park made me very happy. Especially because I saw lots of other families there with their children. The park spans more than six acres, and provides easy access to the popular B&O Trail, a paved pathway that stretches 8.3 miles through Brownsburg. It also features natural elements that preserve existing wetlands and prairie. The park has a half-mile trail network with boardwalks, an exercise area, a picnic shelter with a year-round restroom facility, and, most importantly for people with kids, a small playground. The playground at Virgil Park is fun for (almost) all ages. It has a playground structure, ropes to climb, a slide to slide down, a small natural play area, a water table, astroturf with rolling hills, and fitness equipment next to the playground for adults. The playground is also made of several natural elements, such as logs and stones, to encourage kids to jump and climb.Next to the playground is a big picnic area that's shaded, as well as a restroom and water fountain.I visited on a weekday around 11 a.m. and the playground was poppin' with activity. There were lots of kids around to play with. This is a great addition to Indy's west side, and I'm excited that it's here.

I really like Virgil Park. There's a little water feature which was nice and different park element from others. It's like a water table. Then there's a little walk bridge that goes over small amount of water where we seen baby duckies and it was adorable! There's parking and a restroom! Covered seating area and benches along the park. The faux grass and rubber playground make it nice for toddlers. There's a few pieces of exercise of equipment as well! Virgil Park is a nice addition to the local parks!
