Tortas Johann Mexican Grill

Updating my review from nine years ago (nine!) to say that Tortas Johann is still one of my favorite restaurants. They feature some unique items on their menu, and everything I have ever tried has been delicious. My favorite is the veggie quesadilla, it is very different than the average quesadilla that is served at other Mexican restaurants. I always order the platter that comes with rice and beans, because both are excellent.The red sauce has heat but is very flavorful. I always order extra red sauce to take home. If you don't care for hot sauces but enjoy flavor you can mix a little sour cream into the red sauce to make it milder.Service is always friendly and helpful. Tortas Johann is the best reason to visit Kokomo!

Found this gem on our way to Michigan. Friendly service and the double carnitas torta was perfect size for us to split. Definitely recommend!!

THIS is the best Mexican food in Kokomo. The quality of of food is just better...everything is made in house. If you like authentic tacos, this is the place!

Finally tried this place thanks to another user giving it a compliment and recommendation and the two of us were NOT disappointed. Just a hop, skip and a jump from our home we passed by this place many times saying "we ought to give that place a try" but never did. What a mistake that was. Mind you, it was only once but I can't believe it could be anything less than what out experience was.I love a good tamale and haven't been able to #1 find a place that sold them #2 actually tasted worth a hoot. The one I tried here had me wanting more. Unfortunately I was already full and couldn't fit any more in my tummy. Otherwise - - .Give it a try. They won't disappoint.

This is the best Mexican I have ever had. Ever. Not your typical Mexican restaurant, but in the best way!!! The spices were perfect. We got the enchiladas and the wet burrito and all agreed it was amazing. Plates cleaned!!!!

Food was outstanding beer& Margaritas were cold and the service was spot on. Heck when they serve you they refer to you as "Amigo" . That's good for me.

I'm not sure what happened to this place. It used to be the best Mexican in town. Tonight's meal was no bueno. I got tacos based on the large number of five star reviews. My three tacos were greasy. The carnitas was the best although lacking in seasoning. The beef tasted awful and the chicken was very dry. Overall, there was a huge amount of onions and cilantro that was just way too much. The beans and rice were okay but the salsa was bland and tasteless. They used to have a trio of awesome salsas but the waitress told us they only have the one now. It also took a long time to get our food and there was only one table ahead of us. It was kind of cold when it arrived as well. Unfortunately, we won't be going back.

One of our absolute favorite Mexican places! What truly makes this place so special is the family that owns it. They are so kind & will make anything the way you want it. They often come out & chat with customers, making sure everything is perfect! The best part has been watching the children grow up & getting to know them. Oh, yeah... And their food is amaaazing!!!! Highly recommend!!
