Now at Monument Circle on Wednesdays from 10:00 - 1:30 pm from May until October. I don't think I had ever been to the one at City Market. Due to construction that's why it's moved to the circle. I noticed today they've added more food trucks which they did need. They definitely could add more. You have lots of visitors and people who work downtown who attend lots of functions that happen on the circle. Flying Dirt Farm, Hunter's Honey Farm, Chez Pauline are ones I always stop at. They have vegetables, flowers, soaps, and more. It seems like when it first started in May it wasn't as busy. Now, you can tell it's picked up. Good for the vendors! Check out the Spark area if you're visiting the market too!

I've only been to this market a few times but always enjoy seeing the variety of vendors. I didn't even realize the market was on Yelp! It has been a staple of downtown for years. It's a must shop location at least once if you live in Indy.

If you happen to be in Indianapolis (say on Market Street, between Delaware and Alabama Streets) on any Wednesday (say between the hours of 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.} between May and October, consider yourself to be very lucky. Because of you meet all those requirements, you can visit Indianapolis' Original Farmers' Market and have a terrific time.Market Street is closed to vehicular traffic during the Farmers Market, so it gets transformed into a pedestrian mall. There must have been 50 vendors on both sides of the street. And what might those vendors sell? Probably every type of fruit and vegetable grown in the state of Indiana, plus spices, ciders, baked goods, oils, vinegars, eggs, meats, granola, wine, flowers, beef jerky, coffees, guacamole, salsa, tostadas, soap, cosmetics, honey, popcorn, lemonade, bakery goodies, egg rolls, pet foods, teas, coffee, and cocktail mixes. It's a gorgeous sensory overload of reds and oranges and yellows and greens as you see stall after stall of amazing looking produce.I picked up some great beef jerky and a bottle of cocktail mix from Tailored Toddies. This was one helluva great Farmers Market!

I have a biased perspective on this farmer's market because I work in a building close by. So I get that for some it's hard to make it here during the middle of the week or parking is too much of a hassle to want to mess with. I would argue however that with the new Whole Foods on the corner, parking fears are absolved. Only a few of these stands are still cash only, so it's always good to ask and check before buying.I look forward to warmer Wednesdays almost all winter long. Strolling the brick street during lunch hour, you're exposed to many yummy options. The evergreen Guacamole stand has some deliciously refreshing and filling options. My personal favorite is the spring rolls at Magoo's popular truck with the delectable sweet and sour sauce. During peak corn season, you can grab a grilled ear for a couple bucks and sprinkle on some seasonings. Other staples here include Amelia's bread, Grandpa's jerky, dog treats, salad dressing, seasonings, honey, preserves, meats, a couple Amish run farms, and Nicey's popsicle truck. I've been pleasantly surprised at the beautiful bouquets I've been able snag. The flower selection is great, tempting you to bring one back to your office. The fall mum pot I got last year lasted for months. Absolutely stunning, and come autumn, some even come in cute hollowed out pumpkins. Pro tip: for the cheapest dozen eggs, check out the red tent towards the Delaware end - he sells mainly meat, but has the best eggs. Be sure to bring your empty carton back to the seller! Overall, I highly recommend this market, if for no other reason than it's the only one of its kind in the city. It fills you with the kind of chick flick expository scene vibe and I really have a soft place for it. You can always pair it with a trip into the convenient City Market, a workout at the Y, or a visit to the Observation Deck of the City-County Building for the best free Naptown views.

Each Wednesday during the "summer" months, there is a pop-up event where vendors block off Market Street between Delaware and Alabama Streets. Some of the vendors are farmers with fresh produce. The majority are selling anything from flowers to soaps, to sweets. Just about anything they can sell from a tent and table, it's here. What surprised me was the different approaches taken by the vendors. Some were greeting folks as the passed. Others were buried face first into their phones. Guess which ones were attracting customers! Seriously, if you aren't going to engage potential customers, why show up? Look, you can find this stuff at your local grocery or on line, but if you want to change your routine and are anywhere close to the downtown event on Wednesdays, swing by and check it out. You might find a fresher quality item or find something that you haven't noticed before. Review #2682

The Original Farmers Market (aka downtown Indy's) weekly farmers market is a great way to support local farmers and vendors. They offer a wide variety of products: kombucha, veggies and fruits, meats and eggs, flowers, musicians, coffees/teas, herbs, etc. I love that the City Market is right next door so you can get some groceries and then head inside for a nice bite to eat from one of the other vendors. I recently traveled to Bloomington's Farmers Market and now I have a completely new perspective on how farmers markets are done. Sadly, Indy's has now fallen short for me. The vendors never change; there are never any fun special events going on; it's during the week, so it's nearly impossible to get there unless you have the day off or you work downtown. I will add that it's run very well and I've never run into any issues. I am just now comparing all future farmers markets to my 5-star experience in Bloomington where they offer special events based on the season and what produce is in season; they offer all sorts of local products, services, and organizations; it's on the weekend, etc. I hope that the Original Farmers Market can take some pointers from other surrounding farmers markets. It definitely has its location going for it!

Spring officially begins in March, but to me, it begins when the Original Farmers Market opens for the season (it's opening on May 1 and I can't wait!!). This market takes over the stretch of Market Street in front of the downtown Indy City Market. There are about thirty vendors offering local items like: fresh fruits and veggies, jams, kettle corn, breads, sweets, kombucha, meats, coffees and more. There is also live music and the connecting YMCA even does outdoor classes next to the market so you can feel a part of it while you work out over lunch. The vibe here is electric - full of people working downtown who just broke free of their offices. It's the perfect spot to come over your lunch break and relax in the sun while you eat some of your newly-purchased snacks. This year, I'd love to see mini plants that people can buy for their homes/to bring back to their work desks. Maybe mini succulents? That'd be fun!

Today was the opening day of the Original Farmers Market at 222 E Market St. It looked like a beautiful day, however the wind was blowing so hard that it was cold walking outside. There were several people set up with a variety of things to purchase. There was vegetable plants, herb plants, a booth from Martinsville with honey, desserts, dog treats, and a booth with Mathoo's egg rolls. This is what I can remember. It will be there every Wednesday. I don't remember the exact hours, but I'm sure you can look that up. We enjoyed shopping and talking with the vendors. Please check it out. Can't wait for fresh veggies!!

Market was closed when I visited it, but my friend said that she found plenty of good options. Parking was easy and facility was clean. Since we were downtown Indy we still enjoyed visiting it and few other places. It's definitely a nice stop if you are in downtown Indy.
