The Meat Shop

This was my first time visiting! With restrictions/limitations on meat during COVID, my wife and I decided to explore our other (local) options. After looking through the website, we called ahead to see if we could get a whole Fore Quarter Bundle (cuts from the front). I think there was a miscommunication. After doing a walk-in, we were told they also cap in person orders at $300. This meant, we could only get the half version. Still a lot of meat!So this was my take-away for those who might be in a similar situation.1. Whether you order online or do a walk-in, your order is capped at $300 (obviously this could change).2. My understanding is that you can also buy your choice of the offered cuts, but you might want to call ahead to verify.3. Only three customers (not 3 parties, actual counts of people) are allowed in the store at a given time (at least as of 5/16). Yes, there might be a line outside; but I appreciated the current rule so that there was space inside the store.4. Customers were masked up, but not employees. In fairness, they looked like they were keeping everything clean.5. I'm under the impression that the beef is Grassfed (grainfed prior to butcher). I'm not 100% on this.6. You won't necessarily get exact weights for everything you buy, but I believe our bundle was a good market price. Definitely cheaper than even some of the retailers that provide good quality affordable meat. The chuck roast we had (first night!) was good quality. So the short: good value for what you pay.7. I was impressed with both the variety and quantity. So if you're frustrated with grocery store caps, you might want to check this place out.8. Regarding the online ordering. It's great that they offer it. But for first timers (like me), I'd probably recommend walk-in. The online ordering may take a week or more to fill. But when you're in the store, you can get an idea of your options.I hope this is a helpful list of things for people in the Indy area looking for a good value. I think this local business gives you options!

We came in for the first time and we're greeted immediately by a kind woman. She answered our questions and let us look around at all the deals they had. She let us pick a bundle we wanted and trade out something we didn't want for something that we did! Then a very nice man helped teach us about the seasonings and spices and how to cook a good Chuck roast. We have absolutely loved everything we have cooked so far and are so impressed with the kindness of the workers and great deals inside. We will definitely be coming here for all of our meat from now on. Thank you so much!!! Everything we have cooked so far has been delicious! Best bacon ever :)

You waited almost a full two years to come back with a nasty comment? I have many more meat options on the west side than to go to your establishment. The service wasn't good, point blank. Well wishes to your business and thank you for the 2 year later nasty rebuttal - I think I made a great choice to not be a customer.

Don't judge a book by its cover. I'm from out of state and was a bit skeptical by location and signage... but it's great inside! The staff is so friendly and helpful! So much variety available as well! I highly recommend and will go back when I'm in town!

Our family has been cooking at home a lot more and decided that it would be nice to have a meat bundle with different options and better quality meat than the grocery store. We were very impressed with the Meat Shop. The staff is very friendly and inviting. Their meat bundles are very affordable and cater to those on many different income levels. My husband said that the steaks were phenomenal!

Beautiful ribeye steaks at a great price!!We enjoyed our steaks. The service was weird. We weren't sure if we were going to be helped and stood around like fools until a lady finally appeared. Apparently, the butchers aren't there to work the counter and they do an excellent job of ignoring you.... but they have great stuff and great prices! They have lots of frozen appetizer type stuff, too, in addition to exotic ingredients.

Great prices on beef and lots of more exotic options. My cats like their cat food and my boyfriend likes their ribeyes and bacon. Sometimes their meat can look a little old though, and their chicken prices suck. The owner and workers aren't very friendly at first but after they start to recognize your face they are very friendly!!

Simply the best service, amazing quality cuts of meat, a great selection, and well worth the cost. They have monthly specials to for every budget and they're opened on Sunday's too! Which is awesome because that's my grocery shopping day and you can't beat the fact that it is locally owned and family operated. I can't say enough great things about this place and I don't even live in the same county that's it's located in. That's how you know I enjoy my meats from this shop.

Always looking for a good meat store (supermarket meat is awful nowadays). This is not an example. Two stars for pork cutlets, zero stars for rib eyes ... steaks I bought were dreadful. Guess I'll keep looking.

Super fresh meat. Awesome selection. Even though the store was busy the line moved quickly. Very clean and easy to navigate
