The Local

Entrance is located in the back of the building. Service was very good, as was the food. I was there for lunch and the burger was quite good. Liked the idea of a small Chef's salad as a side. My friend had the BLT and thought it was good, particularly the bacon, He had the Onion Rings of which there were plenty. The prices were fair and the quality was high. Definitely a great place to eat.

Rain cancelled our usual Saturday night plans. So decided to go try out a newer restaurant (est. 2022)that's been on my must try list for awhile now. If your a foodie..... RUN, Do not walk to this establishment! Everything was so delicious! The best goat cheese fritters I've ever tasted. Burgers are absolutely mouth watering. Hubby had shrimp cocktail, he said BETTER than a famous downtown Indianapolis steakhouses famous shrimp cocktail. Only downside to this meal was the Mac n Cheese, it was dry and needed seasoning. But we are Mac n cheese snobs, lol. Overall Quality ingredients are used in the dishes and it shows. My only issue was not being able to try everything on the menu that I wanted to. So now I'm mad I didn't go sooner. We will for sure be returning! If you haven't been yet.... Don't be dumb like myself and put it off. Might want reservations. I was able to walk in and be seated. But it is a very small space. But honestly that's an asset in my opinion.

I had been waiting to visit this restaurant with all the beautiful menus and pix of plates of food and desserts seen online. The opportunity came! Chicken Alfredo was good, enough for 2 meals. The house salad was also good, fresh and a nice selection of assorted veggies and sliced egg. The food was good. Part of dining experience is the atmosphere, which something is lacking there. Was it due to no music? Bright lights? Im not sure but a warm feeling lacked. The waitress was good, although she had something else on her mind bc there was a distance to friendly, no smile. The restroom was cold! So cold, crazy cold; a big turn off!

The highest quality food you can get in Covington for sure. Steaks, salads, soups are very good. Onion rings are second to none! Burgers

The Local brings a unique dining experience to Covington, featuring locally-sourced foods, meat, recipes -- even flowers and art! A personal favorite of mine, is the Prime Rib special with Au Jus. I also highly recommend the Butter Cheese for a show-stopping appetizer! Great place to dine-in, for date night or bringing the whole family. Excellent food quality and presentation, clean atmosphere and friendly, hometown service.

This young lady named... Kiah? gave me and my wife exceptionally good service! The food here was scrumdiddlyumptious. So good it would make Diddy straight. Oh and don't get me started on the ambiance. They had prime rib! Yum! Sydney was also a very good server! Very nice young lady.

Diamond in the rough!! Food was amazing, decor was unique, wait staff was excellent, and price was just right! This will be our new mommy and daddy date location for the foreseeable future. The Local is a place everyone needs to try!

A hidden gem While staying in Danville, Illinois, we wanted to try something new. We happened on "The Local" just 10 miles down the road in Covington, Indiana. Everything was very, very good. Great service (thanks Tia), and great food served fairly quick. We had Pesto Chicken and the House Filet. Cooked perfectly. The cocktails and wine were very good and at the right price. If I lived in the area, it would be a regular stop. If you're thinking about this place, just go. You'll enjoy it.

We had reservations for 6pm for a party of 5 , plenty of tables available. Seat us at a table for 4.There was two other tables of 4 that have already got their food .We ordered our drinks and appetizers and meals . No bake potatoes available for min of 50 mins . Understandable, then 3 more tables sit 5-10 mins after we ordered. 40 mins pass and everyone else in the restaurant have received their food and was eating . Several patrons was able to get baked potatoes . Finally our food comes out after 60 mins . The ranch dressing had food particles in it and was solid , requested another one .Looking forward to one of the chiefs specials the Parm crusted Halibut , cut into got a fork full of, soon as it hit my mouth the meat was frozen solid . Not just cold but frozen .I didn't want to make a big issue of it , but people eating with me , was already not happy of waiting a hour for our food , frozen ranch dressing with food particles in it . and their orders were not correct . It bad enough that the owner seen how bad our dinner and service was and asked to take it back and get another one . I said don't worry about it , she did take it off my bill . Keep in mind there is 9 tables and 3 waitresses, I guess we got the wrong waitress, but when the chef special is frozen As we was walking to our vehicles , the owner came out and apologized for what happened. Explained we had a new waitress. I appreciate the owner trying to correct what happened and admire her passion but unfortunately to many of the staff do not share her passion. I always support local businesses and want to see them succeed. Hope she can turn it around and get staff that shares her passion

I had avoided coming here after this restaurant had catered a company dinner. Then I found out the restrictions the company put on them and understood, so my wife and I gave it a try. Now I'm upset we waited. Our appetizer was the mazzarrati an unassuming appetizer but it was soooo good. My wife ordered the salmon with Tuscan sauce and in her words, phenomenal! Oh I forgot the salads, again simple but fresh and loaded. My wife also a small cup of chicken and rice soup again sooo good. Me I went simple after debating about the prime rib and ordered the pesto chicken with the lemon rice. I had low expectations, it's chicken just don't over or undercook it. Oh my it was so much more! Awesome!! Great service outstanding atmosphere and hands down best for within an hours drive! We'll be back often!
